I want a good gaming laptop for under $1200.
And please dont tell me to build a computer, ive already built one

Answer
I was in the same boat as you. I wanted a desktop replacement laptop that could play the latest games at least on medium settings. Alienware are so expensive and it seemed as though I wasn't going to find a good gaming laptop.

This was until I went to my brother-in-laws house and saw that he was playing some heavy PC games like Mass Effect 2, StarCraft 2, and Dragon Age 2 on his laptop. He told me what it was and how much he paid. I tried to find a better system for the same or cheaper price and I couldn't.

I gave in and bought the laptop and it has been the best laptop I have ever owned! Now I have several friends that also went and bought the same series of laptops and from now on this is the only brand of laptop I am going to buy until something better comes out.

The laptops are by Gamer's Republic and built on Asus technology. The combination is awesome and they sell them at Best Buy! They are the Asus machines but

These machines have played everything I have tossed at them at the mid to mid-high range which is my target range for my budget. I have had the laptop now for 2 years and it can still play today's games.

Trust me guys this is an awesome machine and I feel like I found a hidden gem and I am ever so happy to let the world know.

Here is a link to BestBuy and their Asus laptops. The Gamer's Republic laptops will start with "G" for the model number. I bought the one that was $1,174.98 but they also have one that is $799.99.

If you prefer to buy online then have it shipped then check out the official Gamer's Republic site in the source section. I like to pick up my machine locally just in case I have to return it for whatever reason.

What would be a good laptop choice for me?

I was getting a job this summer and I was going to save up for a laptop. My budget would be under $1200. I was looking for one that i can use for simple functions like typing documents, listen to music, and browsing the web, but can also use software like Photoshop, Autodesk, and Adobe After Effects. Gaming would be nice, but is not really important. Any idea on something i could use?

Answer
Get a sony vaio.My boyfriend bought his for 700.00 and it worked so great until it got stolen. You can get one that has 4gb of total memory and 500gb of storage. And a dvd/cd burner makes it worth getting. So I would go with the Sony Vaio fo you and believe me you won't regret it.

Nickolas

Hi,
I'm looking for a good gaming computer for a good price. I'm also thinking of "building" my own computer. So, if you could recommend a good computer or a good processor and/or graphics card. The furthest extent of the games that I'll be playing would probably be Portal 2, Half-Life 2, Loadout, The Ship, and maybe Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod. I'm not asking for a top-of-the-line gaming computer. Nor, the latest and greatest parts. If you would kindly recommend a reasonable computer and/or parts for these games, that would be great. If it could also be less than $500 in total, that would be awesome. Also, I don't care if it's a laptop or a desktop, as long as it works well and is within my budget, that's awesome as well.
Thank you,
Nick
I already have a PS3, and have a enough money tucked away for the PS4. I travel a fair bit(a couple times a week, but just to friends houses). A laptop would be nice and convenient, but it needs to be within my budget and can work well. If it needs to be a desktop, so be it. Thanks for the specs and recommendations, I'll be sure to look out for that.

Answer
Laptops are never considered as gaming accessories, it is only for those gamer's who are on the move and also like to play games while traveling. I personally own both a Sony Vaio Laptop ( which is still good for new games on medium settings) and a intel core i5 gaming rig.

When you are thinking about buying or building a custom end gaming pc.you have to keep some things in mind.

1. What is my budget?
2. Should i only be doing gaming on my pc or other side work too?

You have to Check for below things when buying or building a gaming pc.

1. A good Graphics Card ( This is my first Priority, I will recommend go for Nvidia or Ati ).
2. A bigger RAM ( 8 GB to 12 GB will be enough to run games in optimal settings ).
3. CPU ( Central Processing Unit : a intel core i3 or any other with same or greater performance ).
4. HHD ( Hard Disk Drive : Above than 200 GB you can go higher depending on your budget ).

The same requirements are for laptops too.

You can check website like Amazon, Best Buy and Ebay ( Ebay is particularly good if you are low on budget, but be careful while buying and always select seller that are in your country and have good ranking and reviews ).

I have a advice you mentioned your budget is $500 why don't you consider buying a next gen gaming console like Xbox One or PS4.

Because a Powerful Gaming PC/laptop has one downfall. You have to keep it upgraded as new games comes in the market. While a Console have no such issue. All new games don't require general requirements for a Console you can play any game you want till a new console comes in which is pretty much not happening soon after PS4/Xbox One.

Take a look at the gap:

PS1 release date : 1994
PS2 release date : March 4, 2000
PS3 release date : November 11, 2006
PS4 expected : November 2013
PS5 maybe : 2019-2020

same goes with Xbox One with little difference.

Each PlayStation has a Gap of 6 year's. That mean Buy a PS4/Xbox One and forget about spending money for next 6 year on another PS/Xbox Console.

Can anyone recommend any good pc games that I can play on my laptop?

DrRo93

Here are my laptop tech specs: AMD A Series Quad Core A8 Processor 1.6GHz (4MB Cache)
4GB SDRAM RAM
500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, ATI Radeon HD 6620G
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4 hours Battery Life

I'm not too fond of FPS Multiplayer games like COD. Not on the PC anyway. I enjoyed skyrim, saints row the third, bioshock infinite, the fallout series, and Assassins creed 3 all on my laptop.

Answer
Here's some games you may like:

Resident Evil 6:
The reviews say this games sucks. It will suck if you're a fan of horror. It is quite big with 4 different campaigns to kill time.

Watch Dogs:
A game you really must pre-order immediately. It's got free-roam and its just like GTA- only 10 times better. You have a hacking phone with which you can hack different things in the environment ranging from traffic lights to electric circuits to roadblocks to bridges to even a whole subway train. Since its releasing before GTA V in August or so, it can keep you occupied for hours.

L.A Noire:
In this game you're a cop! This means you can't kill pedestrians or ram them over with your car. You can solve mysteries and cases at your own leisure. You get to choose if the your suspect is telling the truth or lying according to his/her facial expressions or body language. And yeah, it has free-roam.

Here are other games I remember playing:
Spec Ops: The Line
Max Payne 1, 2 and 3.
Grand Theft Auto III - IV (All games)
Sniper Elite V2
Stranglehold
Inversion
Just Cause 1 and 2
Total Overdose
Saint's Row 1, 2 and 3
Wanted Weapons of Fate
Kane and Lynch and Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
Splinter Cell (all games)
Sleeping Dogs
Resident Evil 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Transformers (All games)
Gears of War 1, 2 and 3
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 and Future Soldier
Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3
Tomb Raider (2013)

If you wish check out the gameplays on YouTube.
