Is it possible to upgrade your laptop graphics card?

I got a laptop just recently, but I had no knowledge of graphics cards and games and all that. I want to be able to play games on my laptop (dell inspirion 1420) but the graphics card is c**p. Is it possible to upgrade to a better graphics card. Is it too late. I got my laptop from best buy.

You most likely have Intel integrated graphics (probably the X3100) which is part of the northbridge of the i945GM chipset.

It is soldered onto the motherboard and there isn't a slot to put a better graphics chip in.

The only way you'll be able to upgrade the graphics is to buy a new laptop.

I am looking to buy a mid-range gaming laptop.

Alienware was good years go. Since Dell bought them, they are now shit. So, I was looking to go elsewhere. Xotic seemed to have reasonable prices though I have never heard of them before.

Opinions? Ideas?

Right now, Alienware (Dell) is the only one I have seen to offer the Core i7 920XM, and Dual Graphics Cards running in either SLi or CrossfireX. But, that doesnt justify the price tag to me.

Dropping some of the specs to match what some other companies are offering, dropped the price by about $2000, but...Other companies are offering the same specs for $1000 cheaper. Don't buy the name...Shop around, configure laptops to be identical (or as close as you can get) and compare the prices...get the best deal for your money. When you configure them to be identical...you really see how much you pay for a name.

I am on a budget and yet want a good gaming computer, specifically for world of warcraft but also for the other usual things. I have narrowed it down to a couple of choices in my other questions, but I have heard bad things about them. Even though they are gaming laptops, they are the less expensive ones so I dont know if they are all that good for gaming. I need answers and help.
