What is the best affordable fast HP laptop of 2011. A good laptop that is fast with multiple windows and can support gaming, i love to game on my computers, i heard about the fingerprint scanner. maybe that would be nice, and im looking for 15.6 inch or more screen. good battery, other good features. Put all suggestions and reason why you suggest it in answers please. thanks!

This HP Envy 14 has a larger HDD and a slightly faster processor, the HDD is a lot slower (at 5400rpm instead of 7200rpm). This difference in HDD speed is worth going with the other laptop with a slightly smaller (640GB) but faster HDD and slightly slower processor.
But it has good Battery Life and performance is really Good

I have these games loaded onto my laptop and my game has been lagging horribly and I know that's do to lack of space on my computer, sometimes the game acts as if it wants to crash! Its highly annoying, and I was wondering if there was anything I could buy or do for my laptop to make it run faster or smoother OR just buy a desktop??? Your replies are greatly appreciated!

Well, game lagging has many causes, it could be your laptop is too weak, or space issues; posting your specs is vital when asking questions like this (particularly ram, cpu and gpu).

There are very few programs that will speed up your computer; I would really only recommend ccleaner, and avg/malwarebytes to check for viruses (Norton can be a big cause for slowdowns, its a resource hog) while the rest are usually viruses.

If you really want your computer to run at its ABSOLUTE BEST, reinstall windows (google it). If the performance is still horrible, then you should buy a desktop computer. If you are willing to learn how to build a desktop, which is really easy, a $400 dollar build would be more than enough for Sims 2. If not, you can look for one that is within your budget, but keep in mind prebuilt systems will be more expensive.

I am majoring in mechanical engineering and I am looking for a laptop for college.
I know that I want a PC but not sure what to look for. I just want a computer that will work and that I can do my school work on. I was recommended the Sony F series, can anyone comment if this is a good computer line to look into?

for 1500$ i could recommend anything lol. What i need are uses, whether or not u will be heavy gaming. Things like COD, crysis, starcraft........ not sims 3, sheesh, about every computer out there now can play that game.

But yeah, u shouldnt be paying over 900$ for a laptop without dedicated graphics, that means all it says is that it has intel hd 3000.

I recommend a laptop with a speedy dual core i5 2nd gen, 4gb ram, 320gb + hdd but make sure its 7200 rpm not 5400 rpm, nice screen, and possible blu-ray. Battery takes care of itself, most laptops with the i5/i3 sandy bridge dual cores get +4 hours and even more with a bigger battery.

try to aim for 13-14 inch laptops, cuz for me, i like to bring my laptop everywhere.

There are plenty of laptops that fit this bill,

inspiron 14r, hp dv4t, hp probooks, errrr asus is a really good brand. number one in the world.

I wanted to know whether I can remove the battery and put it out somewhere safe and use computer directly on ac power. will that improve, reduce or make my battery life remain same.
I know that the more i use it, the lesser it gets.

Try recalibrating the battery - run it down all the way and recharge it. This may improve the time it holds a charge. Only do this every few months because the heat of recharging is not good for it.

the diference is mostly price.

With todays technology, I think a quadcore AMD/Intel CPU is far more then ample for everything that a CPU was designed to handle.

Right now its all about the GPU, the faster the GPU the better, as CPU's are already at that stage where taking them further isnt really worth it, they are already taking silicon to the breaking point.

AMD will now focus on something called APU's, something totally new where a CPU is both a CPU and a GPU, AMD also owns ATi, for 3 years now considered the best GPU manufacturer hands down.

If you are looking into only gaming and only gaming, Nvidia excels in that particular ring, but not by much and their chips both have a very long history of running extremely hot and failed like fly's, but they are gaming GPU's definitely nothing to forget about if that's your thing.

I would recommend the latest HP Envy 14, top notch everything, excellent quality and performance for its size and class.

Im planning to buy a laptop and i dont know how much GHZ, GB for the hard drive and, RAM i should get.

Although the speed of the computers' processor is no longer measured in GHZ, but in benchmarks, you don't have to worry about it because this is not the most important restriction. If you want your computer to go fast you have to focus your attention in the amount of RAM. If you open various programs or web pages and you don't have enough RAM your computer will become slow. In my opinion, nowadays, 4GB of RAM memory is enough to don't have to worry about the memory issue. I have windows 7 with 4GB of RAM, and though I use to open a lot of programs at the same time, I never had a memory problem with my computer.
