That should play most of what you're looking to play. The processor is modern, the Nvidia chip is great, the 1GB dedicated to it seals the deal, the 4GB of RAM is pure awesome for gaming. The CPU actually doesn't have to be all that powerful, but is.

Which of these gaming laptops is a better deal?

I'm deciding between these two computers. I'm looking for the laptop to be able to run MOST, if not all games, that are out now on at least High setting and games that will be released withing the next 2-3 years, not necessarily on high settings, just being able to run them. The Asus g60 is pretty close in price. Only 4 USB ports and a bit bigger :\ I can live with it. Also I have my own copy of Windows 7 so OS is no issue. If I buy any computer used I wouldn't feel comfortable until I did a clean install with my own OS. I'll look into the Asus g60, thanks.

Which one! Xbox 360 or Gaming Laptop?

So i can't make my finale decision. I'm losing my mind. I don't know if i should get the xbox 360 with some accessories or a gaming laptop. Here are the two groups.

First is the Xbox 360 120GB Elite Spring 2010 Bundle,VIZIO VA220E 22-Inch,Xbox 360 Live Subscription Gold Card,Battlefield: Bad Company 2, HDMI cables, and Apple iPod touch 8 GB(with case and screen protecter).

Second is only the Asus G60JX-RBBX05 Gaming laptop(found at bestbuy)

The crazy thing is each group is less than $900 dallors!!!! If i choose the first group i don't have a laptop but i can use my parents desktop. But i still have the ipod touch for mobile use. Now if i choose the second group i wont be able to play good games that are only released through xbox 360.

Get the xbox, a gaming laptop may be great but you can play games just as well on your parents desktop's besides the bundle sounds like a great deal to me.

I have an HP 2010 laptop. It's got pretty good memory. I play the sims 3 a ton and have 6 sims games on my computer, after i got my last one my computer totally slowed down when I would play it, is there such thing as like a memory card, or something I can get so that my computer can hold all these games?

but the computer is slow not necessarily because you have too many games, but because the ram, processor or graphics card is not great

A lot of students have mac books but they are so overpriced. Any laptop should do for college unless you plan on playing video games on it. Your main focus should be on battery life, screen size and operating system. Battery life is big if you plan on bringing it to class or doing work in the library (if there are no outlets there). Screen size, this might be just me, but i can't stand looking at computers with a screen size of 15' or lower. And yes i do know you will get better battery life will a small screen so i would get a laptop with a 15.6' screen. Operating system should be windows 7 home, vista is buggy and most of the computers in your college probably have it as well. Stay away from refurbished laptops they may be cheaper but having your laptop dieing on you while your on campus is the worst. I would stick to the main brands: Toshiba, HP, Sony, Samsung, Gateway. Shop around there are a lot of good deals online, you don't just have to go to stores like BestBuy. Newegg.com and Amazon.com usually have some good deals.

One other thing to look at... if you can i would hold off buying a laptop until Microsoft Office 2010 comes out (June) because there will probably be deals involving the purchasing of a laptop and receiving a discount on MS office

I just heard recently, less than 6 months ago, that a beta version of Windows 7 is out. Is it a version that will eventually be called something else? I think Windows 7 sounds lame. Anyway, does anyone still use Windows xp? I do. I hear lots of negative stuff about Vista and now they want us to wait and see about Windows 7? What I want to see is a new operating system like Doors 2010!

they do 'alpha testing' which is inhouse testing so they can iron out all the problems they find

then they do 'beta testing' in which they give it to the public (for free), who find all the tiny little errors and then report back to the company to fix them.

they recently release Win7:Release Client (which is free for an entire year), which basically means, this is the product they will sell next year, but they want the public to see it because the want to show everyone that they arnt trying to money grab. To be fair to it, its alot better than Vista, so i think it will fair well.

I still use XP on my laptop cos i know its reliable, i have Vista on the PC im using now because it lets me play the newer games. and i will put Win7:release client on this PC as soon as i have finished my uni work.

Doors....? it is called windows because the boxes that have all the pretty pictures and words are called 'windows'

so doors... we'll have to wait and see on that one haha

I can't really say what company to buy from, since that is up to personal preferences. However, I can tell you what you should buy.

First of all will be a good graphics card. You can find the rankings here:

If you want to keep the price down, any card in the top 100 overall will be fine. To be more future proof, get a card that's in the top 50 overall. Of course, some of the cards on that list are old, but you should be able to match names with a newer card. Also, go to canyourunit to see the requirements of current games that you would like to run. Pick the recommended settings and try to hit at least that when you pick the graphics card.

Get a good CPU. In terms of gaming, extra cores is not as useful as higher clock speeds, for now. So if you can't decide, pick a CPU with a higher clock speed. I prefer Intel CPUs over AMDs because on the higher end cards, Intel wins.

Get good ram, and lots of it. If you are 32 bit, you want to hit 4gb (some will be wasted, but its worth it). If you are running 64 bit, current sweet spot that is affordable is around 8gb. 6gb is ok as well. The ram should be DDR3 or they are ripping you off.

Get a good harddrive. If you want to reduce load times, you might be interested in a solid state drive. Just so you know, these usually cost a lot and have much more limited read/write cycles before it breaks. You can also get a rotating harddisk that goes up to 10000rpm or above. The only issue with these are mechanical wear, but should be much more affordable than the solid state drives.

This should be a good starting point for you. I've listed the things you should focus on in the order of priority, so if you can't decide what to cut to reduce the price, cut the things lower down on the list.

That said, if you don't want to build your own, let me list some pros and cons of some big name companies:
Dell: Customer support is decent especially if you use their online chat function. Their hardware is usually subpar, so for example, they might try to give you 32bit win 7 or ddr2 ram. You should watch out for this. They also don't update their drivers as much as I would like and I've heard they're not too great. If you pick their gaming brand, Alienware, these problems shouldn't exist.

HP: Horrible customer service. Computers should be relatively cheap for the hardware.

Asus, Acer, Sony: Can't tell you too much about these since I haven't used their desktop, only laptops.
