HP G4-1117DX Laptop Gaming?

Bowen

I was wondering if this laptop could run Starcraft II on medium/low and WoW on Medium? Specs:

4GB DDR3 RAM
AMD-A series Processor 2.5 Ghz X2
320 GB Hard Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6480G

There isn't any information on the graphics card so I'm not sure about it.

Answer
It should run SCII on med and low settings. I would add more memory to you laptop. 8 gig would help with graphics memory.

can i play game on my laptop?

firstly i`d like to thank everyone for there quick answers. ok guys here my problem i got this laptop for xmas an was given doom 3 with it that doesnt work as i think its because i havent got ati radion 9600 or vvidia geforce fx5200...does that mean i cant play most games or is this just too good a game for me.. it says i need ------ mac os x 10.3.8 or later........cpu*:powerpc g4/g5......cpu speed: 1.5 ghz or faster...memory:512mb...harddrive 2.0gb...free disk space.. dat radion stuff an ge forrce stuff...video ram:64 mb......disc drive: DvD drive required to install an play.. i have that last one i think thats the place i plut the cd right :) ? (i could be wrong) an if you guys can tell me a ruff idea of good games to play that would be great.....an im working of vista guys...is that a problem??? many thanks for you help

Answer
That game is for older MACs.
mac os x 10.3.8 or later........cpu*:powerpc g4/g5.

You said that you have .Processor Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T2310
Network 10Base-T/100Base-TX
Cache 2048 KB
Memory 2048 MB (Not Upgradable)

You see, that game is for Motorola power PC and NOT Intel. It will never work in your new computer.

Newer Macs and PCs use Intel. Old Macs use Motorola.

You are using WIndows Vista, so forget about any MAC software that you see. It won't work.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

yo

I am in college and want a gaming laptop. Saw this thought it was overall decent for low-med settings.
Just wondering what kind of games i will be able to play on this?

http://www.kmart.com/acer-aspire-v3-551-15.6inch-notebook-with-amd/p-020V005955301000P?prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

Some games i was planning on
-sims
-sim city
-plenty of steam games
-aion
-guild wars
- other mmorpgs

Thanks a lot

Answer
It has integrated graphics so it will limit your gaming.

It should handle everything you listed, but "steam games" is a bit vague. Any of the more demanding games of the last year or so wont play too well.

3 things.

1) upgrade to 8GB of ram. Since it comes with 6GB, that means it has a 4GB and 2GB stick, meaning you are only running single channel ram. So upgrade to 2 matching 4GB sticks so you are running in dual channel. It not only increases overall system performance, but the increased memory bandwidth helps alot with integrated graphics performance. (also higher speed memory like ddr3-1600 whcih your cpu supports, will also add alittle more performance aswell)

2) get a notebook cooler. As your cpu does have turbo which can boost cpu and gpu clock speeds, but its based on the temps, so the lower the temps, the better performance you will get. So get a notebook cooler, play inside a cool room, and make sure to keep it free of dust build up. (get canned air)

3) since it has windows 8, get http://www.startisback.com/
It will be the best money you have EVER spent on any software ever XD
its like $3 for 2 licenses, $5 for 5, so its only like $1-$1.50/license
i just got the 5, and used 1 for laptop, desktop and gave others to friends/family.

Would a AMD Phenom 2 Dual core be good for gaming?

Shane Fish

i would like to buy a gaming laptop and my budget is 400 and less. i would like to have a quad core but those are way to much. i would like some help with this please. all i can find is computer that are in the 300s that have dual cores, and i wanted to know if those are capable of playing modern games such as Call of duty 4, and Modern warefare 2, also Battlefield BC 2 and games like that. Thank you so much.

Answer
Yes, the processor would be more than enough to play games, but you need to look at more than the processor if you plan to play games. You would also need either hybrid graphics or even better discrete graphics in order to play games. Unfortunately, until fairly recently this would set you back at least $800. There is now a better option. AMD just last month released their newest line of processors based on the new Llanos platform, they are called the A-series. Like Intel Sandy Bridge Core i chips, the A-series has the ability to change their clock speed to match the task at hand and has graphics processor fused into the cpu. The A-series has much much better graphics capabilities though. For example, the A-series is capable of playing even the most demanding games to a computer such as Crysis 2 at the games medium graphics settings just using the built in graphics. The A-series also runs 5-15 degrees cooler than the Intel chips and has better battery life. Here are a few to take a look at:

I have a HP Pavilion g4 laptop and when I download games like APB Reloaded and War inc my cursor doesn't show up. How could i fix this sorry I don't know all of the hardware information on this computer. Sorry

Answer
Go to the game settings and find settings that are related to the mouse. There should be an option about showing or hiding the cursor. If there isn't an option like that then it means the game is meant to be played without the mouse cursor showing. Hope this helps!

What laptops available for sale in canada have the least problems and last the longest?

mikey

I need to buy a laptop this summer and know too many people who have problems with their laptops, thought maybe someone out there can give me some advice based on facts

Answer
Macs.

Most stable operating system commercially abailable.
No known viruses.
Comes with great software in the form of the iLife Suite (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, etc)
More flexibility then a PC being able to run multiple operating systems, including windowze.
Easy to upgrade.
Hundreds of companies make periferals and upgrades.
Built in webcam and mic.
Hundreds of games available, not as many in total number then a PC, but how many versions of Soduku do you want?

I've got a three year old Mac PowerBook G4, that has not had one single problem. In use everyday, all day.

What is the difference between an ibook G4 and an ordinary laptop?

best gaming laptop g4 on Laptop Lg - reviews and photos.
best gaming laptop g4 image
Q. I was thinking of switching to a laptop because it would be more convinent and I found out about the ibook G4. It is a lot cheaper than other laptops so how is it different? Would it be ideal for me? This is what I do on my computer:
*use internet
*word
*sims 2
*starcraft
Could I do all these things?

Answer
Hmmm, I'm not really into gaming, but I'm guessing Sims 2 and Starcraft are games... so you might need something beefier for games... I'd go with a Pro... are you looking at used? cuz i don't think they call the iBook that anymore... I think it's just MacBook or Mac Book Pro... honestly, I have an old G4 powerbook Pro, and I'd much rather upgrade to something new w/ the Intel chips, especially if I was into gaming. I think the moment Mac went to Intel, they stopped using G4 processors, so by G4 I'm assuming you're looking at used, so for gaming, I wouldn't really recommend that, I'd suggest you go newer w/ something w/ an Intel processor instead... the G4's get really warm... and the Intels are more compatible w/ new gaming software & such

How do I make my laptop run faster with games and videos!?

Alicia

I have a powerbook G4 laptop. I bought it used and am not sure how old it is! It has a 867 MHZ processor and 640 MB memory. bus speed is 133 mhz. I don't know much about computers. When I am facebook and trying to play the games i is really slow and splotchy with u tube videos same thing....what are my options to speed it up to be able to play games and watch videos on real time?

Answer
rofl 867 mhz and 640 ram? 133 bus? no wonder its slow. Most new OS's likely wouldnt even run on that. My suggestion buy a new laptop. They arnet to expensive. I dont think any new games can support that, at least not the graphically intensive games.
