Answer
Some games don't play nice with laptop graphics chips. Furthermore the chip that review says the notebook has isn't the same chip your screenshots dictate. Are you sure it's the same notebook? The page doesn't mention an Intel chip at all, and if that's what's in it then it doesn't have 1GB of dedicated video memory and it's not particularly good for gaming.

Apparently there's multiple models of the AH530.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834110432 This one has the AMD graphics chip.

Answer
you cant, period. If you wanted to game on a laptop, mac is the worst choice...

@jeni
for the 198412634781263491824 time
Most laptops DO have ACTUAL graphics CARDS in them. They are not in any way shape or for like a desktop graphics card, but actually "most" laptops do have CARDS..... why the fk does EVERYONE think EVERY laptop ONLY has integrated graphics soldered on?

I have a $500 laptop with integrated ati 4250 graphics AND a ati 5470 graphics CARD.

Yes you really cant replace the graphics cards in laptops, and they dont sell laptop graphics cards to the public, which make it pretty much impossible to change them, doesnt mean they are soldered onto the motherboard.

In this case, he ONLY has integrated graphics, BUT guess what, your still wrong. He has a sandy bridge processor, the integrated graphics are actually on the CPU itself, NOT the motherboard.

So please stop spreading wonrg information, try using google next time??

@doh
oooo really you know? have you actually taken apart a laptop before??? obviously not...
1) i never said his or any other mac have graphics cards, but most all non macs do... so learn to read
and laptops with graphics cards are not built into the motherboard, they ARE removable, and can be replaced or swapped. Yes its near impossible to find one that will work, as each manufacturer gets them custom made, and each type of graphics chip are usually different shapes/sizes/etc. So you can really only replace it with the exact same one from the same manufacturer. you "may" be able to upgrade say an acer ati hd 5470 with an acer ati hd 6470 as they are likely to not be too different.

i would call that a graphics card, unless you want to say laptops have modular motherboards...

Gaming on NVIDIA Graphics Card GeForce GT 230M ?

Shila

I hav just got my sisters laptop which was bought 2 years back. It is HP pavilion DV7t-3000 laptop with following features:
⢠Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
⢠Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB)
⢠4GB DDR3 Samsung 1333Mhz System Memory
⢠1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M

I want to know how good this laptop is for gaming purpose? Will it support the new games like NFS Run and others. Is the graphics card good enough for gaming purposes. If not is there any way of updating/replacing it with newer ones.

Answer
The laptop was bought as an end of the model sold mostly 2008 and 2009, and the GT 230M was a lower-mid class release in June 2009. It is at 273 in this GPU to gaming web site:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
It ranks between Intel Integrated graphics HD 3000 Mobility and HD 4000 Mobility
It cannot play the highest graphics new games and is not considered gaming level. NFS Run was released in late 2011 and it appears that GT 230M is just above the game manufacturer minimum so should play on the x768 screen at low settings.
Graphics cards of laptops cannot generally be upgraded. There are cases in newer laptops using standard laptop graphics cards and if a similar model laptop exists, you might be able to use that card.
I don't know what the configurable HP DV7t-3000 offered, but might be another in the GT 2x0M series if it can be found. It is generally not worth trying. I could not find any indication of a higher level card compatible on the internet. You could not upgrade with a newer card. If socketed, only a higher level of the same GPU family.

can i install a graphics card in my laptop?

Mustafa Fa

my laptop is toshiba l510 -01s00r.it has a celeron d t300 processor,a mobile intel 4 series express chipset family or intel gl40 express chipset with a 4500mhd graphics which has a core clock of 400.everyone knows that intel integrated graphics are slow.mine is too.that's why i can't play new games of 2011 in this.i want to install a nvidia graphics card in it so that it can replace my integrated graphics. can you please help me and tell me which one is the best nvidia graphics card that my mobo can support and how can i install it?
@computer_surplus2005 can i change my mobo?but i have found an empty place in my mobo for installing gfx card.

Answer
You said LAPTOP and they are all built on the graphics are built on to the mobo. You can change some of the laptops out there but 99.9% of the time you can not change the graphics without changing to a new mobo or different mobo. They are not like a desktop jus tbuy a graphics card and change it out. These are hardwired (soldered to the mobo). You might be able to find a external graphics card for laptops but that would be a waste.

How to know when graphics card is overheating ?

todai5

i have Mobile intel series chipset 4 graphics card on my laptop

i play FIFA 2011 and League of Legends and they run fine.

BUT how do i know when its time to stop playing so my graphics card won't overheat ?

Answer
Just keep playing and don't worry. If it gets too hot the computer will shut itself off to avoid heat damage.

Personally, i run two screens and on my 2nd screen i have all my monitoring software for temperatures and clock speeds etc so i can see them any time at a glance.
You could run a program like GPU-Z while you're playing but you will not be able to see it. It will have to run in the background but you can set it to create a log. When you close the game you can review that log and see what the temperatures were and how hard the video card was working second by second.

Can i play fifa 13 with AMD Raedon hd 7470 or 6470 1 GB graphics card in a laptop?

I'm planning to buy a laptop. I'm willing to play fifa 13 with this laptop. I've found two laptops: 1 is having AMD Raedon hd 7470 and another is having AMD Radon 6470 1 GB graphics card. Can i play fifa 13 with either of this graphics card or do i need to look for something better for playing fifa 13?

Answer
Fifa 12 plays great on either one.
They will handle Fifa 13 as well as Fifa12.

The recommended PC requirements are the same for 12 and 13.

Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+

GeForce 8800 GS

What is the best should I do if I want to play modern PC games at max graphical settings if I've got this?

best gaming laptop graphics card 2011 on Cheap Apple MacBook iBook G4 Laptops
best gaming laptop graphics card 2011 image

Chrome

I've only got 130 Dollars (USD) to spend

I've got a laptop (purchased in 2011) with these specs:

i3 (2.53GHz)
Intel HD Graphics
4 GB RAM

I know that the processor is okay and the RAM amount too but the Intel HD Graphics is bad for gaming so I'm thinking if I could connect an external graphics card to my laptop. Can I do this? Is it worth?

I've also got a pretty old (about 10 years old) desktop PC with these specs:

Pentium IV (2.80 GHz)
ATI Radeon 9600
768 MB RAM

Should I buy components separately in order to upgrade this old desktop PC?

Or should I buy a new desktop PC?

Can you help me please?

I want to play PC games like Far Cry 3 at ultra settings...

Thanks and sorry for the bad english.

Answer
First off you can't upgrade the GPU in a laptop so you're stuck with Intel HD graphics.
Also although it may be possible to upgrade your desktop it probably won't be worth it, you'll have to pretty much replace all of the components including the motherboard since it will most likely only support old DDR/2 RAM and old processors.

You should just buy/build a new desktop. But with a budget of just $130 building a PC that can handle Far Cry 3 on ultra is impossible. Sorry.
I recommend just saving up your money until have at least $300+ if you want to be able to build a half-decent gaming rig.

Good Luck.

Where can I get a barebones laptop from 2010 or 2011 for 100-200 dollars? Or just suggest an idea?

Light Pro

I'd like something that works with i3 or i5 and a decent graphics chip. If you could give me a link or suggest an entire combo around 500 bucks that would be great.

Answer
This laptops is awesome.
This laptop has the sandy bridge version of the i3 which has really strong integrated graphics card. and very quick processor.
I was actually able to get around 35 FPS on Civilization V on low setting which means I could run smoothly at medium settings, which also means that you can play alot of other games like MW2, Fifa, NFS, Portal, Mirror's Edge, Red Alert 3, and games at this intensity on low settings. Fifa will surely run on medium settings.
Aside from the specs, The touchpad is a little bit rough at first as if you're touching very fine sandpaper, but after a while of use you get used to it and realize that it actually works better than glossy touchpads on other laptops.
