Which laptop should i get for games?

I want a fast laptop for playing a few games on such as Modern Warfare 2. So far I think i have narrowed it down to 2 laptops in my price range. which would you recommend? Or any other laptop suggestions?

Unlike the first answer who is spitting back up what Dell/Alienware want you to believe I'm actually going to answer the question, plus the previous answer doesn't realize that Alienware wants $2,999 for an M15X in New Zealand that is barely any better than either of the computers you listed, not the best spend of money if you ask me considering the price of the two you listed.

Now to make things clear, these two computer are very similar, the actually have the same graphics card, a dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 and the same amount of DDR3 RAM so the differences between the two come down to the processor inside and the hard drive. The HP you listed as the larger hard drive at 640GB but the Sony has the slightly faster processor so in this case I'll give it to the Sony as the hard drive is something you can easily upgrade down the road if you ever need the extra space (and cheaply too) where the processor isn't.

I really wanna get one I can game on, i wont be using it JUST for gaming but i would swtill like to game on it. (:
Some of the games I'm wanting is Left 4 Dead 2, Sims 3 (and a few expansion packs), Red Dead Redemption (if it ever comes out on pc D:), GTA, maybe Dragon Age and Crysis.
I know its quite a bit but yeah i like games :DD :P
I dont knwo alot about computers so dont bother going into detailed specifiations.
I just want on thats good graphics and is fast running and has alot of space, if thats possible. (:

Gaming Desktop/Laptop For NZ$2500?

I want to make a Gaming PC for $2500. It must have a Nvidea 570, 580 or 590, must have a good looking chassies, a motherboard that can support 2 of the above GPU's (I plan to upgrade), a SSD boot drive, a 1-2TB hard drive and wireless. I need to be able to connect it to a TV so HDMI is a must. But if I can buy one that fits these specs can you please tell me. Also what is the best gaming laptop for this price (That looks good). If This isn't possible can you tell me the cheapest possible alternative.

What laptop should I get?

I wanted to buy a laptop but wasn't sure what suited my needs. My aim was for PERFORMANCE and GAMING. Due to budget cuts, I was only able to come down with two of the best laptops that I can find with my price range here in my country. I need something that looks GOOD, SMOOTH in gaming, and FAST. here they are

HP ENVY M6
AMD A10-4600m APU
4gb ram (upgradeable)
AMD Radeon HD 7660g/7670m Dual GPU (2gb dedicated)

3rd gen. Intel core i7 3632qm with turbo boost up to 3.1 ghz

WHhat should I get? I was going for the M6 because of its Dual GPU and awesome graphics card thinking it would run new games at max smoothly. Although I doubted it because of its slow Processor and doubtful about the graphics having 2gb only with dual gpu. I also liked the pavilion g6 because of its amazing intel core i7 but doubtful about its graphics card thinking that its weaker than the M6. So what should I get? The M6 that is slim with Slow processor but Strong Graphics card or the Pavilion with an AMAZING processor but thinking that it has a weak graphics card? NO OTHER LAPTOP SUGGESTIONS

I would be interested to know your country, because the USA, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, UK, HP is never the actual best price/performance/quality. I have looked over and over again. [Maybe you are in Dubai UAE or Brazil or a different country and HP prices better there.]

HP has not been showing well in surveys either, but some of their new ultrabooks are getting good initial reviews.

That stated, if only asking which of the two laptops is better, among choices I would not consider to buy, The Envy is made with better parts and usually has gigabit ethernet. The dual graphics is often unsuccessful getting slightly better results than the stand-alone HD 7670M. The i7-3632QM is very much stronger than the A10-4600M CPU in non-gaming general usage:

Although gaming is mostly graphics card related, there are a few games that are cpu as important even though the hyperthreading of i7 is not important. The second is slightly better than the first in gaming, and is much better than the first in non-gaming overall in averaging all games and uses of a laptop. It is likely that HP is using 1x4GB in the first system taking dual channel ram as single channel. Make it 8GB by an extra card after you buy it, and they are so close overall, the Envy is probably the better choice. If I was able to see all of your choices and the prices, I have a very high confidence I could find better at your price. The 7670M is about entry level in gaming.

The GT 730M has been released. The GT 635M and GT 640M have been available. I would take a good core i5 3210M and GT 635M over either of those.

I am very knowledgeable of the entire industry and the construction of laptops.
About your extra comments:
Dual GPU and awesome graphics card - Dual GPU has minimal effect. Microstuttering is negating the improvement and the settings get lowered to accommodate.
Slow Processor - It is in line with 2nd generation core i5 mobility and the hyperthreading of the i7 does not help much. They are not as different as you might think.

Having 2gb only with dual gpu - The graphics ram here is all DDR3. WIth enough system ram as shared, the difference in ram is meaningless. Only GDDR5 really improves graphics performance.

Better stated: The M6 of a higher quality of construction and less overheating issues with a CPU much weaker at non-gaming and a little weaker at gaming and a GPU slightly better than the G6
or the G6 of lower quality of construction with the better CPU and slightly weaker graphics and a bit more ram to start. To upgrade the 6 to 8 if probably the same price as the 4 to 8. Close decision, but not the way you are thinking it.

I would probably take the Envy because HP laptops are waiting for issues, and the Envy is made better, and they are close enough to accept either equally.

Hello I'm a student about to go into uni. For that my dad agreed to give my 1000 nzd plus my 1000 nzd to get a laptop
I want to play battlefield 4 and guild wars 2 on it. Right now I'm looking at the msi gx70. The one with a sdd in it. Its priced at 2100 nzd here in new zealand.
What I'm asking is. Is this worth it? my friend said I should just get like a 1000 computer cause he said his 1200nzd computer can run most good games on high. I'm just really confused on should I spent that much on a msi and is it a waste of money?

Laural has it right! Be comfortable. If you sit for a long time at home in jeans do you get uncomfortable after a while? I usually wear a pair of the men's sleep pants, a loose shirt and carry a sweater or sweatshirt. Just look decent but comfortable!

In your purse(or laptop bag) and carry on bag> make sure you DON'T have any nail files, clippers, knives of any kind, scissors, nothing that can be considered a sharp weapon.

You can carry emory boards(soft nail file), pens, pencils, cell phone, handheld games, laptop, portable dvd player, small portable radio/cd player with headphones, etc. Make sure all your liquids(lip gloss, makeup, hand lotions, hand sanitizers, medicines, perfumes, bath products, etc.) are no more than 3 oz and in a plastic quart sized zip bag.

Bring a change or 2 of clothing, medicines, brush, comb, toothbrush, a book to read, or an activity book(word search, etc), homework, movies for the laptop or dvd player.

You can bring gum, candy, and/or snacks with you but if you want to bring a drink or two or a sandwich or other food you will have to buy it after you go thru security before getting on the plane. Which means don't forget the money as you'll probably want to get something to eat or drink at the stop over or even a souvenier.

Don't forget to put a garbage bag or two for dirty clothes in your suitcase. And when you get to where you are going remember to keep the plastic zip bags so you can reuse them on the flight back home.

Well simply put there is no way. Disappointing i know they put a one time use code with the game but there a many games like this. Sorry to inform you but some games really aren't worth buying with these issues. I doubt you knew though. Hope this helps a bit.

Have several batteries for your laptop charged up......Take some dvd's and watch a movie with ear phones........play games............write some letters in word, email when you are able to connect to the internet....learn a new program.

Make sure you pack food..........airlines just don't hand it out anymore......some you can buy a sandwich from for $5.....others you survive on peanuts.

Buy several beverages after security or have empty water bottles and fill them at the water fountain.........have flavored packets you can pour into them.......

Most flights are running a few hours or more late......they are trying to leave with full planes. At the airport you can walk around or just sit and people watch.

Grab a pillow and blanket before you sit down..........take a cat nap........

Read a book

Pay your bills..........go through your mail.

Woke up Sunday morning, turned the TV on the Wales and New Zealand match and switched the laptop on for the Samoa and France game (and went to church very tired).

Samoa played well but after the second try kept kicking the ball a way as to somewhat defend the lead for 20 minutes which you can't afford to do against the French and were ultimately punished by one Frederic Michalak. All other internationals went to plan except for Tonga up over Scotland and Ireland over Argentina (an upset in my book).

Bonus Question â Is it possible for someone to clarify the ruling behind a player attempting to intercept?

The incident with Corey Jane being sent off is the reason I ask this question, it's a play we should have all seen at least once and the ruling has gone 50/50. So, can anyone clarify if there is an actual ruling for this or is it another on of Rugbys grey areas that need to be looked at?

As for the intercept, it was definatly a yellow in that case (it is a gray area but i promise you most profession refs would have given him a yellow). Heres the thing he was making a TACKLE then threw his arm around to disrupt the pass, he was never going for an inteception, how can he make a tackle and intercept the ball with one hand at the same time. Lets face it Cory Jane's good but hes not that good. they grey area is when a player tries to intercept the ball in the open and fumbles it forward, look at the england france game in the six nations there was an english player sent of for a "diliberate knock on" in that cause its a tough call, but the cory jane incident was clearly a yellow no question about it
