laptop video card?

i just go a laptop the other day, it's not the top top of the line but it's still really nice, anyway i like to play computer games but with the some of the newer ones coming out, my computer is barely handling them, ( i also only keep one game on the computer at a time). i didn't know if i could get a video card to help my computer out, or if there was anything i can do to. (and i can't buy a more expensive computer either.) thanks

Laptops aren't really "gaming computers." As i don't have a laptop myself, I don't know if you can put graphics cards in them.
Desktop computers are better for games as you can easily change the RAM, graphics cards and other stuff.

I want to know what laptop to get. I want a cheap one for no more than $600. I also want a good video card but not a really expensive one. I'm mostly going to use this laptop for gaming, so I want at least 512mb RAM, 50GB hard drive and a good prossecor but I don't want to spend much money. Also I'm stumped on what graphics or video card or whatever to get! Thanks:)

If u want good gaming expereince then u should purchase atleast 256 mb video card. U can purchase nvdia geforce cards which provides good quality graphics card.

Is it possible to connect some kind of external video card to a laptop?

I have an asus G1s with an integrated video card, which is dying because it's overheating (factory defect), and I wonder if there is any solution, beside buying a new laptop. Anyhow I will not buy a gaming laptop anymore, after this experience.

Uptake of new standards is slow.
ebay is the only current realistic place to look for add on cards.
as things develop, more and more connections are developing

In general you cant upgrade, but some laptop models are now supporting
the right connections to allow changing video cards. Unfortunately even
these standards allow the connections to be soldered making replacement
still tricky.

What kind of games can I expect a nvidia geforce go 7300 laptop video card to play?

It scores a little over 10000 points in 3d mark 2001se and over 3000 in 2003.

I just bought a laptop with this video card specifically for gaming. I got it on sale for under 1000 and hope it is decent. It was either this video card or a stuped gma 950 or ati mobility radeon 1100 integrated card.

Also is this card a true dedicated video card and how much video ram does it have?

Out of those three cards, this one is the best.

It will play most games, though on low settings.

You can check its video ram by rightclicking on the desktop, select Properties, select the Settings tab, click on Advanced, select the Adapter tab, the video ram must be there.

Can someone explain what I should look for in a gaming laptop?

I have a MacBook, and I love it except for the gaming situation. I want to buy a gaming laptop, and I know next to nothing about the different graphics cards, video cards, sound cards, etc.
Can someone please tell me what specs the laptop should have in order to play good games like Grand Theft Auto, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty?

If possible, I don't want to spend too much over $1000 US.

Yeah check out Alienware if you are after a gaming laptop they offer options last check up to sli 8800's, your stock sound will generally be adequate graphics and graphics memory will be the main issues - if you're planning on playing gta iv with decent graphics most laptops won't handle that well imo - if alienware is a bit expensive i gues aim for something with at least 512mb of dedicated graphics memory. Graphics cards which primarilly use shared system memory generally perform poorly as remapping system memory to graphics is a relatively inefficient task. In regard to chipset generally for gaming I prefer Nvidia - something like a 9800m gs would likely give reasonable performance on these games but still nothign compared to a desktop with a decent graphics card (prob about 25-30% slower than an 8800 gts)

Should i buy a gaming laptop now or wait for a few months for a newer models ?

I finally saved up some money to spend on my gaming .

I am going to buy a 6 month year old gaming laptop , everything is awesome in this laptop but the video card is only GT 555m GDDR3 3GB , which is still in a old generation .

Should i wait for a new release of this mode with include GDDR5 VRAM or buy this ?
