What type of gaming laptop should i buy?

GGvietboiG

I'm looking for a gaming laptop that's around $1200 or less, preferably something in the Sager or Alienware line but anything that's good is fine, and maybe something that wont be boiling hot after a couple hours of gameplay would be good :).

Answer
Aliewnare laptops are the best gaming laptops. You can take that from me because I did many reviews on the Alienware line of gaming laptops. Any model from Alienware would do but I believe $1200 is not enough since Alienware laptops are so expensive. But if you could spare extra cash, that shouldn't be a problem.

Another good gaming laptop brand would be from Dell. The Dell XPS series are ideal gaming laptops and your $1200 price tag covers a variety of different models.

Toshiba is another good brand which serves for both business and gaming. I prefer the Toshiba Qosmio which is a monster for its wicked sound system and unbelievable performance. But it is a little expensive. The Toshiba Portege should cover your cost.

I want to buy a decent gaming laptop.?

I want to buy a decent gaming laptop, PC is impossible because I don't have enough space, I'm willing to spend â¬600-â¬700, around $780-$910 USD
Yeah, because me liking gaming makes me live in my mom's basement, get a life little kid instead of attempting trolling.

Answer
Here is a couple of ASUS laptops. The second one is above your price point but thought you might want to take a look

Brand buying advice

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate.

Choose wisely.

What Gaming Laptop should I buy?

Jr

I'm leaning towards the MSI brand because of their good aftersales here in our country (Philippines) and compared to other brand it is equipped with decent gaming gpu for the budget.

⢠For the budget: 700 USD

MSI GE620Dx-i3145+ | *15.6-in., i3-2310, 04Gb, 500Gb, GT555M 2Gb GDDR3, DVDRW, DOS
but I don't know if this will be future proof like 4 years. GT555M is the best that I can get with this price.

⢠For 930 USD

MSI GX660x-i5285+ | *16-in., i5 520M, 8Gb, 500Gb, ATI Radeon 5870 1 Gb GDDR5, DVDRW, DOS

no doubt this is a great gaming laptop because of its powerful gpu the Radeon 5870 1gb ddr5 but the processor is outdated because most laptops today has sandybridge processors, even the 5870 is pretty old too.

⢠For 1160 USD

MSI GT683R-i5185+ | *15.6-in., i5 2410M, 8Gb, 500Gb, GTX 560M 1.5Gb GDDR5, DVDRW, Steel keyboard

now this is a beast! GTX 560m 1.5gb DDR5 on this laptop! with sandybridge i5 processor but the cons is, it is expensive.

So what do you think should I buy?

I use Photoshop, programming stuff, Converting media files, but most of the time I watch movies/tv series and for gaming, I can be a hardcore gamer but not an enthusiast, for the past few years I only played games on low-mid settings.

Answer
well, for a real gaming laptop with awesome style and everything, i suggest getting an alienware m11x. Its expensive tough, really expensive. I got mine for 3500 ringgit in malaysia, but the good thing is that if you order online, you can modify the colour and quite alot of other stuff too and also get a 3 year warranty. If you cant afford it i suggest getting the msigx660x, cause its not too expensive and it can run most games.

should i buy a gaming laptop?

izzy

i already have ps3 but i really want a gaming laptop because i don't like spending much time on the tv, the downside is that next generation games are coming and i'll be left behind with the old generation

so... what do you guys think

Answer
Get a gaming laptop. There computer games that are really epic but can only play in pc and not in ps3. So when you play the ps3 games you are really missing out in the games that the pc has. Which is way better. So get a gaming laptop.

Buying a gaming laptop monster.... need advice.?

erioniza

I am looking for a gaming laptop (non mac). I want top of the line, but I do not want to overpay. I want something I can carry (>12 lbs). Which brand should I look into... just a regular dell or hp (with maxed out specs) or something else. I have heard alienwear is a waste of money... how does voodoo, hypersonic, or falcon compare? Anyone have a good one that they would recommend?

Thanks for the input!

Answer
best gaming laptops are probably the XPS from Dell. There are other more expensive laptops that feature SLI (2 video cards) and can compare to desktop performance, but you wont find one cheaper than $3,000. Basically, you cant pick and choose when it comes to gaming on a laptop. Probably going to be over 12 pounds, and you are going to have to overpay, which is why a lot of people go with desktops. You can buy 3 powerful desktops for the price of 1 laptop.

What type of gaming laptop should I buy?

Jostle

Hey everyone,
I am just looking for a bit of insight on what laptop I should look into purchasing. I primarily want the laptop to run games such as Starcraft 2 and Crysis on ultra/high settings without any lag or jumps. I have about $1500 to work with right now and I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions. I know many say that laptops are not built for gaming but I need something that is easily portable and can handle any game I throw at it.

Thank You!

What is the best gaming laptop with 3D blu ray?

I'm really considering Alienware, but I wanted to check what the competition offers.

Answer
I have had this ASUS G73SW-3DE computer for about a week. I am verrrrrryyyyy happy with it. The build, quality, construction is the best I have seen in a laptop. The keyboard works great and the keys are spaced nicely for typing. All that student stuff aside, this thing rocks! The games are all set at ultra settings and the 3D looks amazing. When the glasses are on the screen is bright so you don't have any issues at all with the darker lenses of the Nvidia 3D glasses. Also all you World of Warcraft players out there, you wont believe how things change when you play in 3D. It blew me away to see all the flat graphics in WOW come to life in 3D.

what components could i put in a regular laptop to make it a gaming laptop?

Josh

I want to pc game. But I can't afford a nice 1000$ gaming laptop. SO lets say i buy a decent Dell, or Acer. What would be good to put in it thats not extremely expensive that would make it a good gaming laptop? Thanks.
I have a xbox, and i don't mind paying for online. But i there is some upcoming games i want to play on pc.

Answer
Laptops are not for gaming. They will overheat and wear out. They have insufficient cooling and the parts are not built for sustaining heavy 3D applications for hours on end.

Go desktop. Large box, lot of cooling, quality parts. Then there is less regret when the laptop parts burn or keeps fuming carbon monoxide on your desk.

Laptops are usually 50% cheaper than real parts. But so is what you get.

Be well.
