Gaming laptop list for $800 or less?

Sathoria

Whats the best gaming laptop for $800 or less? (I want to play World Of Warcraft, League Of Legends, Path Of Exile, and Guild Wars all on one laptop, minimum lag)

Answer
Mostly pure gaming laptops have price of more than $1000 which includes Alienware, MSI and Republic gamers of Asus.

But one of the option which you must consider is Acer Aspire V3-571G-9683 which has the price of $750. And as per one of the user of this laptop it is perfect for gaming. Here is a comment:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R234WHMK3MWMLU/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00B7JE6FS&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=faowiw-20

If we see the specs of it then definitely it is a good buy because it has really good specs in terms technicality which will be reflected in the performance as well. Its features include:

It has really powerful and efficient processor which is Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor - 2.4 GHz (6 MB Cache). It also has good memory which is 6 GB DDR3 RAM. Other features are also nice which includes 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive,15.6-Inch Screen with NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M, Windows 8 and 4.5-hour battery life. So it is a good one to go for if you want a gaming laptop in under $800.

For further options to look for here is a list of laptops which comes under your budget which will broaden your choices and they all are around budget:

Gaming Laptop?

Q. I'm planning to buy a Gaming Laptop which can play Crysis, Bioshock, Halo 2, ETC. I'm getting it on Walmart, so, can you guys pick the Top 5 Gaming Laptops from http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=4070&fromPageCatId=3951&catNavId=3951

Budget is $1400 Below, It doesn't have to be expensive, as long as it's okay for Gaming.

Answer
Hi

for gaming get xp. at this stage its better than vista for playing games. this will change in the next 12 months or so but for now its a better proposition.

Get a reasonable dual core and 1-2 gig of ram but make sure your machine has a good video gpu. The gpu is the important part of a gaming rig. You can put in 4gig of ram and a quad core but if you are running a crap graphics chipset your machine will not run recent games with playable frame rates.

The top chipset is the 8800m but you may have to wait a little while for it to be widely available as its only just come out.

See here for a list of gpu's
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-X3100.2176.0.html
get a class 1 or a class 2 gpu. the 8xxx series will run directx 10. the 7xxx series only go up to 9c.

Hope this helps.

I'm looking to buy a laptop that can handle and that is built to handle high graphics. I'v been looking at alien ware but its so expensive. I'm not sure where to look and my price range has to be under $2,000.

Answer
The answer above was talking about a desktop. You asked for a laptop. Just note that laptops aren't near as good for gaming because they use mobile hardware.

http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Laptops/HP-ENVY/C0L20AV?HP-ENVY-dv7t-7200-Quad-Edition-Notebook-PC

you can upgrade the gpu on that one, and it will be pretty decent with a nice large screen. the dv6 is pretty much the same thing with a smaller screen. I have a dv6, but I use an external monitor.

I'd get this one: http://www.xoticpc.com/forcemsi-16f3-22001-670m-msi-gt60-barebones-p-4346.html

It looks like a great deal. Just upgrade the processor in the customize section and you'll have a nice gaming laptop.

Buying advice

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Tablets are just toys to me. They can not handle the work load like Laptops and Desktops and do not have the storage capacity you will end up needing.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate. My experience with them are limited because the few I worked on made me think they were designed in such a way as it would take a blow torch and a jack hammer just to disassemble them.

Choose wisely.

List of good gaming laptops?

Hey,

Could anybody send me like a list of good gaming laptops of now?

Going to college and I'm not planning on getting a desktop. So please don't start whining about laptops being horrible gaming machines- I don't care :D

Just suggest some laptops (and add links!) that you personally like or of which you heard a lot of.

Thanks!
Raul.
-would want to add that I'll be in the UK, so I would best want to order notebooks from within the UK :d -

Answer
There are plenty of sites that have good gaming laptops, here's a few:

Best Buy has a Gateway FX laptop that is a really good deal:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172511&type=product&id=1218043606827

Or you could find one from newegg.com, they have a good variety of price ranges and products, way too many to get specific:
http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=32&name=Laptops-Notebooks

Or ibuypower lets you get a little more customized to what you want, its prices are also fair and as a company, it is very reliable:
http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/notebook.asp

Alienware in the past was a dominant breed of gaming laptops, but nowadays, after getting bought out by Dell, they are very overpriced.

What is the best gaming laptop for under $1500?

clipjammer

I am in the market for a gaming laptop for a semi-serious gamer. I am looking to play games such as Battlefield 2 on medium quality settings and Oblivion. I have looked into several of the graphics cards that come integrated and dedicated in laptops. I know that the possibility of upgradable graphic card upgrades in laptops is still a few years away. I am looking for a laptop with graphics that can handle the games I listed. I don't need any of that Vista crap neither. It's too early to upgrade OS. Sites providing customizible builds are welcome and any user feedback from customers who bought from mainstream stores like Bestbuy, Circuit City, Dell, etc is welcome to.

Answer
Well, you should really buy directly from a company. You can always personalze your own laptop on campaq's website as well as Dell and HP.

As of April 2013 what would be the best gaming laptop for the games i listed?
I know TES online is not out yet but could someone make a good guess of what specs i need?
looking to spend around $800 but i will pay more if it is worth it.

Answer
Lenovo.com
IdeaPad Y500 Laptop- 59371965 - at $850 plus tax. The GT 730M seems to be a little better than the GTX 660M. The link is long but not hard to navigate Lenovo.com

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312438
The down level Y500 with the pair of GT 650M in sli. With an i5 processor, a few games will CPU bottleneck. It is $900 and taxed in California.
Both in 1080p

Now, hunt the stores, Amazon, Newegg, Tigerdirect, Fry's, Best Buy.

Come up with a GTX 660M or better at these prices.

TES:
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=3734&game=The%20Elder%20Scrolls%20Online
Requirements will be fairly low.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152377
AT $800 is enough.
You can go cheap, and it is probably enough to play, even with weak build quality of Acer:

Ok, I have about $2000 bucks, what kind of custom gaming laptop could I get? Can some one list out the best parts I could use. Stay with in the budget of $2000 dollars please.

Answer
I found myself in a similar situation earlier this year and bought both a desktop and a laptop rather than spending 2k on 1, why not spend 1k on 2?!

I bought a Lenovo y570 laptop (core i7 (3.0GHZ), Geforce 555M, 8GB RAM) $900 on new egg

AND the parts for a gaming desktop core i5 2500k (5.0GHZ), 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD RAID0, Geforce 560ti, 850W PSU, which I assembled myself.

The desktop can run Battlefield 3 Maxed at over 60 FPS and the laptop can do it on medium at nearly 60 FPS.

Overall I am very happy because when at my house and gaming I play on my desktop and when I am mobile or at a lan party I can game just as good as most people.

What are some good and cheap gaming laptops?

12motor

Any good gaming laptop that is under 500$? Please, if you can, list as many as you want/can with links. Thank you.

Answer
Hi there, like almost everyone else you start at the wrong end of things. You want a gaming machine, but I bet you have no idea what is the minimum power you need to run the games you want to run. So first get the info on the games you want, that will tell you the minimum configuration you can use to run that game.
Then you start looking for machines that have that minimum power or more. So, to get any help at all you are going to have to do a little work. Find the configuration you need to have. Then simply either go to the web sites of the computers and look or do a little shopping, see what is out there. Sure you can come here and ask, but so far I don't see that you received much of any help other than 500 is probably not enough.
Good luck and do your home work.

Answer
Crysis 3 and other games will be played with no disruption in a laptop which has good processor and good memory which means it should have good memory. So by considering both of them Dell Inspiron 15 i15RV is one option for which you can go for and also it is of less than $500. It has technical features which include 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3337U Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.7 GHz) which is really efficient. It has 4 GB DDR3 and 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive of storage. It has 15.6-Inch Screen and Windows 8. Lastly it has 6-cell battery which means you are going to have battery life of almost 3.30 hours.

What gaming laptop should i buy for games like guild wars 2,the elder scrolls online and WOW?

Ricky

As of April 2013 what would be the best gaming laptop for the games i listed?

Answer
Lenovo.com
IdeaPad Y500 Laptop- 59371965 - at $850 plus tax. The GT 730M seems to be a little better than the GTX 660M. The link is long but not hard to navigate Lenovo.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312438
The down level Y500 with the pair of GT 650M in sli. With an i5 processor, a few games will CPU bottleneck. It is $900 and taxed in California.
Both in 1080p

Now, hunt the stores, Amazon, Newegg, Tigerdirect, Fry's, Best Buy.

Come up with a GTX 660M or better at these prices.

TES:

Requirements will be fairly low.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152377
AT $800 is enough.
You can go cheap, and it is probably enough to play, even with weak build quality of Acer:

What specs should a gaming laptop have at least to run all games really good?

Corey

I want to get a gaming laptop but I want to know what specs are good for it or should it at least have? I play games like BF3, GTA IV, Amnesia, and Black Ops.

Answer
since you mentioned gaming but haven't give any budget.. its like dreaming..

a 3rd gen i5 processor-- (faster and with ivy bridge)
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

all gpu starting from score of 1350 upward(benchmark score) can play almost all games from minimal resolution to max setting on the top gpu.
http://community.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu
ram -- 4-8GB will do

with this kind of table you can based your selected laptop capacity on games and look for a better one, that suits your bdget...

an up to date driver ensure system stability.
