Should i get a laptop for xmas or my birthday?

Alexa

Which one would you chose? Im asking for a macbook and my mom keeps asking me if i want it for my birthday or if i want it for christmas. My birthday is on November 10th.

Answer
You should MAYBE get the 3DS.

Because you can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D so it does NOT give you headaches for the first time in your life (if you're the kind of person to ever get headaches from 3D, otherwise just turn the 3D all the way up).

And you can also turn the 3D OFF Completely.

And 3D is good for working out your eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml

And the Nintendo 3DS has downloadable 3D music videos from today's American music artist which I have already downloaded the 3 free 3D Music Videos to watch anywhere and the 3DS has 3D "Blue Man Group" video and College Humor (in 3D) with the FREE "Nintendo Video" App that you can download (but its 4 3D Videos at a time and they replace them once in a while) and you can download cheap downloadable 3D Apps & 3D games costing from 99 cents to $5.99 and the Nintendo 3DS also has FREE downloadable 3D Apps & 3D Games, which I have already downloaded 3 Free 3D Apps and I have downloaded 2 Free 3D Games and the 3DS has a 3D Camera and I have already used the 3DS 3D Camera to take 3D photos and I have uploaded some of my 3D footage online using the Nintendo 3DS's Web Browser to upload my 3D footage online and I have used my 3DS Web Browser to also download other peoples 3D footage from the Internet on my 3DS Web Browser and I have view all sorts of 3D content on 3D Websites online on my 3DS's Web Browser and I have use my 3DS 3D Camera to play 3D Augmented Reality games as well and it's all in 3D without the Glasses using the 3DS 3D Camera and I have beautiful 3D HD graphics that equal to that of a 3D HD version of Wii Graphics and I have Streamed 3D Videos Online on my 3DS in the eShop and I have also Watch 3D Trailers for upcoming 3D movies coming to Theaters in 3D and I have done all of this in 3D Without the Glasses.

So you can pay $169 for a Nintendo 3DS and buy the greatest Games ever & all in 3D Without the Glasses like Cave Story 3D and Kid Icarus and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 using the MOTION SENSORS to play the game like if you were turning a real wheel to turn the Kart left & right and also play such other 8 GB 3D Games like TheatRhytem Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D and Crush 3D and Petz Fantasy 3D and Animal Crossing and Gabrielle's Ghostly Grove 3D and Nintendogs + cats and the Sims 3 Pets and King of Pirates and Golden Sun 4 and Zoo Resort 3D and Zelda 3D and Sonic Generations 3D and Tetris 3D and 100% of the 3DS games are in HD 3D Without the Glasses.

Also, the screen is perfectly fine, in terms of resolution. Anyway, itâs the pixel density that matters, not the actual number of pixels. The 3DS pixel density is MUCH sharper than an average HD TV of, for example, 32 inches. Itâs perfectly fine. Not everything has to be 1080p you know. Since 1080p at 32 inches is worse than just 240p on the 3DS.

And they're making Angry Birds 3D as a downloadable game.

And the 3DS has DLC (Downloadable Content) like Xbox Live for a bunch of 3DS games to add content to the game cartridge later on.

And 1 of the Free 3D Apps I have downloaded was Netflix.

And Netflix is getting 3D Movies in the next few months, so for $169 you can watch 3D movies on the free Netflix App on the 3DS in 3D Without the Glasses.

And it's getting both Hulu and Hulu Plus (which already has 3D content) before the end of this year (2011)

And 100% of the people who have said that they get headaches from 3D, have said that after up to 1 to 2 weeks of using the 3DS they NO LONGER get headaches anymore and that they now play with the 3D all the way up 100% all the time, non-stop.

But I have never had any problem with the 3D at all, but each person has a different experience with the 3D ON during the first week.

And you can now pay to download Permanent 3D & 2D Videos on the 3DS as shown in this Link:

http://nintendo3dsblog.com/you-can-now-pay-to-have-permanent-access-to-videos-via-the-nintendo-video-application

and you can check this Link below for more 3DS Games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games

P.S. You will want to check these sites out for the Web Browser's 3D ability:

http://gamecrunch.co/3dscreens/

http://3dporch.com/

http://www.klutz.com/static/nintendo/n3ds_mm9.html

http://www.instructables.com/3ds/

And the 3DS is getting a Wi-Fi Update this NOVEMBER to RECORD 3D Videos and upload it to YouTube and all of this in the 3DS this November by hooking your 3DS up to a Wireless Internet Connection like Wi-Fi or your own Home Internet or the Library and so fort during November as shown in this Link.

2011 Macbook Pro, Bootcamp XP?

Benni

I just got a Macbook Pro 13" last month. I had one a few years back, and had bought XP to install using bootcamp. I wanted to use my old XP disc to install with bootcamp on this new macbook, but am having LOTS of issues with drivers, since Bootcamp seems to only do Win7 drivers. The main issue is that I can't connect to the internet. Does anyone know what drivers are needed to get WIFI on the XP side of my Macbook Pro ?
Glen, that would be wonderful, but this computer did not COME with a disc :/ which pisses me off. My old one did. That's why I'm stuck!
Carling... that has nothing AT ALL to do with what I'm talking about. and I'm already WELL aware of all that, THANK YOU. Seriously..

Answer
Please read this for your own benefit you'll learn something for the future that will save you hundreds of bucks

The Mac computer is no difference from any other Intel computer, They all have the same Intel components in them, Thought the Intel Laptops/Desktop are a higher specification than the Mac are. Mac OS/x does get Viruses, I'll let you find that out for yourself.

Mac and windows operating systems are NOT the only operating systems in the world there are other Free Operating Systems Available to you that are far superior than Mac OS/x and Windows 8 when it comes out.

There is one Free alternative operating system that will allow you to pick any type of desktop you want at the click of the mouse button. It could be Xp, Vista, 2000, Windows 7 and Mac OS/x or a Multitude of other 3D desktops that you have never even heard of,

What I'm saying is windows and Mac OS/x are not the only Operating Systems in the world, there are over 100 alternative operating systems available, and there are literally thousands of Free professional application software packages even for the Mac if you decide to stick with it,

Here is an example of what I'm saying. Check out these up to date November 2011 free alternative operating systems
http://distrowatch.com/

Check Out this website for over 323,100 professional application and games software packages for these Free operating systems
http://sourceforge.net/

And for the Mac and windows Free Application software check this Link out
http://www.softpedia.com/

Please keep in Mind if you can buy one software package. Then there are 100 Free legal alternative packages available

I have two questions about buying a laptop?

marilyn

I've wanted a laptop for a long time, but unfortunately my dad hasn't really liked the idea because of the cost. I was looking online for cheap alternatives to just running down to the local Best Buy and picking one up, and came across Overstock.com

Two questions:

What would be your opinion on purchasing a refurbished laptop from that website? Would you recommend not doing that? Why?

and: My best bet was looking at all the laptops for under $500, which actually had some nice (refurbished) deals. However, all of them ran on XP. My dad is extremely wary of XP because he's heard (mostly from people at stores like Circuit City, Best Buy etc) that Windows is going to stop running XP soon (meaning no updates, new softward etc). However, I have a feeling those people might've been stretching the truth a bit. What's the real deal? If we buy an XP computer are we going to regret it because in a couple months we're not going to be able to update it at all?
(I understand programs and games and such might stop running on XP, but that's not a very big deal [we have a fine Vista desktop computer we'll continue to use]. It's mostly just about updates and virus protection and such).

Any advice would be wonderful! Thank you.
Also, if anyone has any other places (than Overstock.com) I could get a good laptop for cheap, please share!

Answer
don't worry about XP. Windows XP will be supported by Microsoft for sure until 2010/2011 (btw, they still make updates for Windows 2000 - i got the latest update for it on Feb 24 2009).

Windows Vista will soon be the past too because it will be replaced by Windows 7 until September - November this year.

anyway, your first idea wasn't that bad just running to BestBuy and picking one up :)
why not this one, it's new not refurbished
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9168063&type=product&id=1218041998438

added:
i just checked the refurbished laptops on overstock.com. the problem wouldn't be Windows XP but those laptops itself - these are fossils!! to pay $350 and more for such outdated laptops is stupid because they have little memory, little hard drive space, an oldish processor and are not even able burning DVDs.
you better pay some bucks more, get a new laptop with a 1year warranty, and have a laptop that is up to date.

Can't find my $150 video camera!?

best gaming laptops november 2011 image

Long Live

I bought it near the end of November 2011, and we put it away to hide it while we weren't home to avoid it being stolen.
We had gotten robbed about 2 months before buying our new camera.

They stole 2 TVs, 3 laptops, my cell phone, my $100, Playstation multiple video games and movies, $100 Flip video camera, and some other stuff I can't think of right now.

So, we replaced most of those things about 2 months later, and now I can't think of where we hid the camera at. We've looked EVERYWHERE, and it's been lost since probably around January, 2012.

I want to make YouTube videos again, because I was becoming a YouTube sensation, but I haven't made a video in months, and I've lost about 400 subscribers because of this. :(

Where should I look?
I'm so mad because of this.

Thank you for answering! :)
Means alot!

Answer
Thats a cool story, bro but i have no idea where you hid your camera.

Maybe if instead of thinking, where is it, you think, where should i hide something valuable. Check the places you think of.

Can use my computer and ps3 on July 9th?

Brent

I'm not a computer savvy guy! My dns is fine on both my laptop and desktop.
I'm currently playing through a game and I usually check my computer for a tip every now and then.
Will it be safe for me to have my ps3 and laptop on at midnight???

Answer
Yes... you can have both on and everything will be fine.

Many people seem to be misunderstanding the impact of the DNS Changer rootkit. If you were affected by what will happen on Monday, you WERE ALREADY infected. In fact, it's possible you were infected for many months or more!

There IS NOT a new virus going out on Monday that is going to crash the web.

What actually happened is back in November of 2011, the FBI raided the offices of a group that was responsible for the DNS Changer rootkit. If your computer was infected by this malware, your legitimate DNS entries would be changed to fake DNS entries that pointed to this group's illegal DNS servers. From there, they could capture and monitor much of your Internet traffic.

When the FBI raided those facilities, they didn't want to just turn everything off; this would have crippled infected users immediately. So they setup a bunch of proxy DNS servers, using the DNS Changer IP Addresses, so infected computers could still reach the Internet and use the provided tools to clean infected systems.

What is happening on Monday is the FBI is finally going to shut down those proxy DNS servers. Anyone infected with the DNS Changer rootkit who hasn't cleaned their computers will not be able to access the Internet. NOT because they pick up some new infection, but rather because they never bothered to clean up an infection that was ALREADY there.

If your computer has passed the DNS test, you're OK! You'll have no issues if you're on the Internet at midnight.

Hope that helped!

Can I run Diablo 3 on my Macbook Pro?

best gaming laptops november 2011 image

dudymako

I have a 13" Macbook Pro and I was wondering if I could run Diablo 3 here? The computer's relatively new (bought it November 2011) and I wanted to play some games here. Can I?

Answer
You should be able to, but probably not too well (don't expect to play on high). Your laptop has an Intel HD 3000 graphics chip. It's not a dedicated graphics card- it's actually attached to the CPU. It's not really meant for gaming and it only has a small fraction of the power of any modern dedicated graphics card but many games, including Diablo 3, are designed to run on older chips too, and your graphics card is more powerful than a mid-range laptop card from 4 years ago (the minimum to run Diablo 3)

diablo 3 on 2011 macbook pro?

f3nderbend

I just recently bought a macbook pro in November of 2011 and I was wondering if I have the specs to operate diablo III on it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Yeah you should be able to run it on at least high settings, maybe max. Your processor is way faster than what's required for max settings (i5 or i7, doesn't matter which). Diablo 3 wont need much RAM either so you've got enough for max settings there too. The only thing that could hold you back is your graphics card. I think it's a 1GB AMD Raedon card of some sort in a Macbook pro from Nov 2011? This should handle at least high but probably ultra. Pretty much any dedicated graphics card will handle Diablo 3 except the entry level ones, and I really doubt something as expensive as a Macbook will have a crappy graphics card.

My laptop should handle high/ultra too, but honestly I'll run it on low/med regardless just to make it run super smooth and to stop my laptop from bursting into flames. Your Macbook will get hot too so if you're going to be playing games on it for long periods of time I'd suggest a cooling pad for your Macbook. They start at $10 but I'd spend a little more and get one with fans built into it. Hot components don't work as well as they should and trust me when I say 2 hours of Diablo will make your graphics card pretty toasty. Cooling pad helps keep everything running optimally so you'll be able to chomp through Fallen Shamans on high/ultra settings for hours! :D

I have this computer since November of 2011, around 7 month from now. So its been working fine and i was really happy about it until 2 days ago. I was able to play starcraft 2 on a 59 fps constant for 7 month until 2 days ago when it suddenly dropped to 30 fps. Im also experiencing fps drops in modern warfare 2 too, which it ran smoothly before. I defraged my computer, delete all the unecessarey things, updated my graphics card, and used CC cleaner, but still it remains the same.
here are my computer specs
-Intel Core i7-2670QM
-CPU @ 2.20GHz
-8.0GB Ram
-Nvidia Geforce GTX 560m
-duel core processor

so i really dont know what the problem is here. i had this computer for 7 month and during that time period, everything was fine. my friend said it can be my internet effecting the gameplay, but i doubt it. thanks for replying i appreciate your help.
Oh btw its a gaming laptop.

Answer
Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop. This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset. Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord and turn your laptop on.

Boot in "safe mode". As it starts up press F8, the computer ask you if you'd like to start in safe mode. Highlight "safe mode" and press enter. See if your laptop is booting up ok .

If your laptop boots ok, do the following,

Try System Restore first,
Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. Choose the most recent date before you the encountered problem. If it doesn't work, try the next date.

If System Restore does not fix it, as a last resort, you might need to fdisk, reformat your laptop hard disk clean and reinstall OS, that usually fixes all bugs. Before going that route, try following,

Uninstall unnecessary programs and applications.

Scan with a antivirus program

Scan with a spyware/malware program

DEFRAG C:

CHKDSK C:

Clean up and repair registry problems with registry repair software of your choice

If the problem persists, did you check if it could be your laptop power cord or power source problem? Defective or insufficient power supply might cause error messages that are misleading. Take the battery out and power on your laptop with the charger only. Make sure your laptop power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. Did you notice the power jack loose? You can find laptop power jack on ebay. Fixing and soldering the power jack requires professional skill though. The charger green/blue LED should be on. If not, replace the defective charger. laptop battery charger, especially its power cord/cable, lifespan is limited and does not last forever, consider buying a lifetime warranty charger online from company like topmic

Can I save $30,000 in three years in the United States Army?

Q. I am 18 years old and I am going in to the United States Army in November of 2011. I am going in as an E-3 so I will be getting paid at E-3 right off the bat. My contract is 3 years. I want to save at least $30,000 so when I get out I can buy a house. I am not going to put all $30,000 down on the house because I will be using the VA loan. My plans are to save every penny I get. The only money I will spend will be on the stuff that I have to spend money on. For example, Hair cuts, tooth paste, toilet paper, etc.. I have a car that is already paid for, I am single (yes I realize that single guys spend lots of money in the army but I rather not) I have a laptop, I plan on staying on base and eating on base. I am hoping that the base that I am stationed on will have a library and I can spend most of my time in there either spending time on computer games or working on school work seeing I can go to school for free. Do you think that this is possible?

I wrote out a short plan and this is what I figured.
I will make $1,730.00 a month (before taxes)
I will make $20,760.00 per year (before taxes)
I will have $62,280.00 after 3 years (before taxes)
So what I did was instead of taking out a percentage for taxes per year I just took 1 years salary from the army and gave it back to them. So I think that after 3 years I will have $41,520.00 (if I dont spend anything) Does this seem/sound realistic? All opinions and thoughts are accepted. Thanks.

Answer
Your plan sounds legit but what you didn't take into account is your going to spend money.... I promise you that... especially if you get stationed in germany... we like to live the good life and Soldiers know how to party. In three years, you will most likely get on one deployment and that's where your going to make your 30,000 and save it. The army is stressful at times and partying when the day is over is an Army tradition. So don't worry about the saving part is 30,000 is your goal. You will be able to save that with a deployment.
