Best PC gaming laptop?

Q. I'm looking for a new gaming laptop (NOT a desktop) that preferably does not cost over $2000 (although a little above that isn't a dealbreaker). Right now I'm thinking about the Alienware M17x. Any other suggestions?
I'm also thinking about the ASUS G75VW. Better than the Alienware?

Answer
Check these two gaming laptops
MSI G Series GT780DX-406US 17.3-Inch Laptop
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Series-GT780DX-406US-17-3-Inch-Laptop/dp/B005WPUN32/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&tag=basebal-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1338795004&sr=1-1
Specs:
- Intel Core i7 processor
- 12GB RAM
- 750GB hard drive
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX570M - specs here - http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-570M.56635.0.html
(Scroll down to 'Game Benchmarks')
- Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
- Full Color Programmable Backlight keyboard

Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7170 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Qosmio-X775-Q7170-17-3-Inch-Horizon/dp/B006GTCXG8/ref=sr_1_10?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=basebal-20&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1338790310&sr=1-10
Specs:
- Intel Core i5-2450M processor
- 6GB RAM
- 640GB hard drive
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M graphics card - specs here - http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-560M.48313.0.html
(Scroll down to game benchmarks)
- LED-backlit keyboard

Both above laptops will play Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, MW3, BF3, DiRT Showdown, etc at high to ultra settings. Also, they are your budget of $2000.

Decent priced gaming laptops?

Q. I want a decent priced gaming laptop starting from $800-$1400. I've been doing lots of research but many laptops are too expensive & don't look that great. Any suggestions? (Preferably from Sony.)

Answer
Asus has good gaming laptops and also they are going really well. As you have mentioned your budget of under $1400 so there is one good option which has the price of $1364. It is considered to be one of the best gaming laptop as one of the user described it as Awesome PC, Runs Games With Ease. Here is a comment which you can look and decide:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R3ETFK97E8HH41/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00COQIKB4&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=hawmekm-20

Its features include Intel i7 4700HQ and 12 GB DDR3 which can play any games because of its strong power. It has huge storage with 1024 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive. It has 17.3-Inch Screen with Nvidia GTX765M 2GB GDDR5. And it has Windows 8 with 3.5-Hour Battery Life.

So all of these factors show that it can be a good choice to go for among others. But if you want to see other options as well then here is a list of laptop which are under your laptops. They are popular ones and usually are good options:

What is a gaming laptop?

HappyDays

Like for say Alienware. Can I play xbox games on it? Can I play games designed for PS2 on it, or the wii? What makes people want to buy a gaming laptop; why is it so special? How is it different from a normal laptop?

Answer
Gaming laptops have stronger CPU's more ram and bigger video cards with more on board ram in them. The graphic processing unit in a gaming laptop lets you play PC games while you can play ps3 and wii games a third party program is required which is called an emulator to play them. All in all gaming laptops boast more CPU speed and faster video cards to handle the high poly objects 3d games require while a normal laptop usually has a low end gpu which allows basic gaming and simple animations to run smoothly

Im looking for a powerful gaming laptop with a reasonable price and good specs. Im not entirely sure what aspects I should be looking for so I guess my question is two parts. 1) What should I be looking for in a gaming laptop, and 2) Do you have any suggestions for powerful, reasonably priced (<2.5k$), and quality gaming laptops.

Answer
Gaming Laptop is almost an oxymoron.

But, the main thing you should be looking for, is about 1GB of RAM, a good video card, a decent sound card, and a good amount of hard drive space.

When it comes to actually buying it, for a laptop, you might want to go all out and get the best possible one you can get. Laptops dont upgrade as easy as a desktop does. The idea is to give yourself the longest possible life out of it. But if completely replacing the system every 2 years isn't too much of a problem, go with Dell. Their computers are pretty good, they're cheaper because of not being resold by someone, and you can get good enough hardware to hopefully last a while.

What is a reasonably priced gaming laptop?

Joshua of

My old laptop reaching the end of its life and I am due for a new laptop, and I'd like a gaming laptop (as that is what I do mostly on my laptop now).
I am looking for a reasonably priced one it possible; I do know gaming laptops are more pricy that most. I'd prefer to not spend more than $1500 on one, but if need be I am willing. If you know f a good one cheaper than that that's better!
Thanks in advanced!

Answer
These are all good options:

**Lenovo IdeaPad Y580** (i7-3610QM, NVIDIA GTX 660M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - **$949 + tax**
- Sign up and sign in here: http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/na/StdAffinityPortal/en_US/Lenovo:EnterStdAffinity?affinity=barnesnoblegold (Barnes and Noble Gold discount page)
- http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/barnesnoblegold/StdAffinityPortal/en_US/config.workflow:ConfigureMtmAsItem?mtm-item=:000001C9:0000393A: (i7-3610QM, GTX 660M, 15.6" 1920x1080, 500GB 7200RPM) - $949
- http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/barnesnoblegold/StdAffinityPortal/en_US/config.workflow:ConfigureMtmAsItem?mtm-item=:000001C9:00003943: (i7-3610QM, GTX 660M, 15.6" 1920x1080, 1TB 5400RPM + 32GB SSD for hybrid cache) - $1039
- These models come with the 1920x1080 display. There are other models that come instead with a 1366x768 display, but those models are not recommended unless you need the larger text. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.
- Click the green "Activate eCoupon" button in the cart.
- Note: the GTX 660M is not significantly faster than the GT 650M.

**MSI GE60** (i7-3610QM, NVIDIA GT 650M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display) - **$1099 no tax**
- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152339 (GT 650M) - $1099
- N82E16834152349 (GTX 660M) - $1199
- Note: the GTX 660M is not significantly faster than the GT 650M.

**Sager NP6165** (i5-3210M, NVIDIA GT 650M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - **$920 no tax**
- http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6165-clevo-w150er-p-4344.html?wconfigure=yes
- Select Windows 7 under Operating System if you cannot acquire your own copy for cheaper.
- 17.3" version: www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6175-clevo-w170er-p-4345.html?wconfigure=yes

**Sager NP6370** (i5-3210M, NVIDIA GTX 660M, 17.3" 1920x1080 glossy display) - **$1027 no tax**
- http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6370-clevo-w370et-p-4796.html?wconfigure=yes
- Select Windows 7 under Operating System if you cannot acquire your own copy for cheaper.
- Recommended: Matte display option.
- Note: the GTX 660M is not significantly faster than the GT 650M.

**Sager NP9130** (i5-3210M, NVIDIA GTX 670M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display) - **$1095 no tax**
- http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9130-clevo-p151em1-p-4340.html?wconfigure=yes
- Select Windows 7 under Operating System if you cannot acquire your own copy for cheaper.
- Downgrade the memory to 8GB 1333MHz, unless you have a particular need for 8GB 1600MHz memory. (Only available on XoticPC configuration page).

**Sager NP9150** (i7-3610QM, NVIDIA GTX 675M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - **$1405 no tax** (w/ GTX 670M: $1308)
- Take note of the GPU options, and note that the stock GTX 670M is available in the cheaper NP9130.
- Recommended: Matte display option.
- Downgrade the memory to 8GB 1333MHz, unless you have a particular need for 8GB 1600MHz memory.
- Note: comes with a colored backlit keyboard unlike the NP9130.
- 17.3" version: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9170-gaming-laptop-clevo-p170em-p-4342.html?wconfigure=yes

Note: Another answer here recommended the "ASUS N56VZ-ES71". This model is not a good option, because it comes with a 15.6" 1366x768 display. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast. It also has the slower GDDR3 version of the GT 650M instead of the GDDR5 version, but it's still a decent GPU.

The N56VZ is a good option if you buy the N56VZ-RB71 which comes with a 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display, but the N56VZ-ES71 is a bad option.

My birthday is coming up soon, and I want a gaming laptop. It doesn't have to be specifically dedicated to gaming, but one that can handle them well.

Answer
Gaming laptops (Decent ones) will cost at least $700. Normally $1000...
Battalion has a good laptop for $900.
Toshiba, if you customize it to get the right specs.

Avoid Alienware, MSI, etc. The really big brand names tend to be overpriced

What are the best gaming Laptops that are out right now?

Jonell

I have been doing some research on gaming laptops that can really run through games like Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, Minecraft, MMOs, etc. The only ones that have caught my eye is the Alienware m17x and m18x, and Sager laptops.

If you can recommend some other ones I would really appreciate it.

By the way I am looking for a laptop because I will be moving around for the next couple years so I dont have time for a Desktop, and I'm looking for quality Hardware atleast under $2,500 so thanks in advance.

Answer
As a general rule of thumb, try to avoid Alienware laptops. They are the best gaming experience you will ever have, for about three hours. They they overheat and burn themselves out, leaving you with a somewhat crispy, very expensive paper weight. Try an ASUS laptop, they have several good gaming laptops.
