Help finding a gaming laptop less than 1200 dollars for future college student?

BAHAT

Im looking for something with a screen size under 16 inches because I will need to take it to class. My price range is between 700-1200 dollars. Needs to be able to play games fairly well. I looked at Asus but they have too many models and dont price them.
Dell, Asus and Gateway all look good. Any help in my quest for the ultimate laptop would be great thanks

Answer
go to newegg.com as they will generally have the lowest prices and they have great customer support.

The main thing to look for in the laptop you will want is a good graphics card. Heres a list of gpu benchmarks
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
and here's the list showing many of the games you can expect to run with those cards http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html

For the processor get an Intel dual core of 2ghz or better.Outside of that the specific processor isn't as important.

For ram try and get ddr3 or at least get 800mhz DDR2

Try to find the best mix of those three you can get for your price range and especially look at the gpu games link I gave you..

If the laptop only comes with a small amount of ram(you'll want 4GB)or a small HD these things are both cheap to upgrade yourself so don't let it stop you from buying a laptop as you can get a 500GB HD for under $100 and a 2GB ram stick for less than $50.

Did Some Leg work and found the best deal you can get with everything you want. It's even better than mine and that makes me a bit sad. Here ya go. compare anything else you find to this one, but I'd just go ahead and buy it if you want something to use within the next couple months. It's always best to wait until just before you need a laptop because they just keep getting better and cheaper. Only negative to this laptop is that it's DDR2 ram instead of DDR3.

best gaming laptop under 1500 dollars?

mo

I've posted this question before but so far I have not seen a good computer in the answers. I don't want to build my own computer or buy the parts for someone else to build them. I want to buy a good gaming laptop that can work almost any type of games such as battlefield and cod and stuff like that in high stetting's and good resolution that's under 1500.

Answer
Toshiba Qosmio X70-ABT2G22. This model is highly customizable and ranges from $1200 to $1600. (Choose between 256 GB SSD to 1 TB hybrid drive to 1 TB 5400 RPM drive -- also from 4 Gb to 32 Gb RAM) Toshiba will customize it per your requirement.

Intel® Core⢠i7-4700MQ quad core
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 770M 3GB DDR5
1920x1080 TruBrite 17.3" display
Blu ray DVD burner

an Alienware M18x or Eurocom panther 5D is way better but they will cost more (not less than $2000)

I am looking for a good gaming laptop that can run starcraft 2 at max settings or just the best computer I can get for that price. I would like to stay under 1300 dollars. I am a first time computer buying and I have no idea about this. please just list laptops that you think are good. thank you for your help.

Answer
You're best off building a desktop for computer gaming. You can build one high end for $1000

Core i5 2500K processor + AMD 6950 Radeon + 4 GB DDR3, etc

As far as laptops go, this is your best bet for $1200

Core i7 2630QM processor (excellent!)
Nvidia 460m GTX video chip (excellent)
6 GB RAM + 500 GB 7200 rpm hard drive (very good)
Brand: ASUS (very good also)

Looking for a good laptop for college?

I'm researching laptops for college and beyond, but I'm a little overwhelmed by all the options. My budget is $1200, and what I've decided so far is I need:
- A PC, not a Mac
- i7 processor
- CD/DVD drive
- USB 3.0 ports
- Windows 8
- 8GB or more RAM
- 750GB or more hard drive
- A decent graphics card (I'm not a serious gamer as far as computers go, but I want to be able to play minecraft or the sims without it lagging.)
- Long battery life (this is super important!)
- Screen no bigger than 16" diagonally
- Not super heavy
What do you recommend I get?

Answer
The features and budget you have mentioned are perfect for getting a good laptop. Asus has one option which is perfect according to your requirements.

Its features include Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.4 GHz Processor and 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM Expandable to 16 GB. It has 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive. A 15.6-Inch 1080P Full-HD LED Screen with Nvidia GeForce GT 635M 2GB DDR3 VRAM Graphics. Also it has Windows 8 and Backlit keyboard.

All of these features you are getting in under $1000 which means you can save around $200. Also on its performance side it is perfect as well as one of a customer describes it as a Worth the Dollar. Here is a complete comment for your ease in decision making:

So it is perfect laptop with an affordable price and also it is same as your requirements. But if you want to see other options in the market then here is a list of laptops which are popular and under $1200. This list will help you in making comparison:

What laptop do you recommend for travel/schoolwork?

best gaming laptops under 1200 dollars image

I prefer a laptop that is at or undering 5 pounds that i can use to travel with and do schoolwork. Preferably a core 2 duo. all under 1200 dollars. anythiner out there? i was looking at the HP dv2000t and if there were any other good ones.

Answer
Look at Acer or Toshiba laptops. Because you are on a budget look at acer because they are a little cheaper than toshiba, but they are just as good as toshiba. do not get HP, Compaq or Dell because i work in IT and most of the laptops that i see with major hardware problems come from those three brands. I have an Acer 5601AWLMi, it is a great computer, i don't think they make it any more but there would be one that has pretty close to it's specs that you could get that has a core2 duo. it has a centrino duo 1.6ghz (got it just before core2 duo was released) 120gb hard drive, 1gb ram, duel layer dvd burner. it is a great computer and would be great for school, it's betterey lasts me about 3.5 hours if i am ony typing, it lasts less for games and programs that use more resources. acer are great computers for a good price.

What is the best laptop to buy for gaming under 800 dollars?

Gabriel F

Wanted to buy a new laptop because this one is crapping out on me. Anywho have any advice on which laptop to buy? I would like it to have a good video card because I want to be able to play current games on it like Fallout 3 or something.

Answer
I understand that you want a gaming laptop that's under $800, but under that price tag won't get you much. If you want to buy a good quality gaming laptop, I'd recommend that you should spend at least $1200. Gaming laptops are expensive because it's hard to put good graphic cards into computers. Most laptops run the graphics from the motherboard, but a separate graphic card can be rather pricey. The best brands for gaming are Alienware (Made by Dell) And Voodoo (Made by HP). with these brands, just DESKTOPS start at around $1200! For $800, you'll be able to get a good Toshiba, Dell or HP, but for sure not a gaming computer. If you want to save money and get a real gaming laptop, then build one yourself. IT takes a bit of effort and may take a bit longer, but you will still be able to save some money, and you can buy the parts separate so you'll get exactly what you want.
Overall, I'd recommend to either spend about $1200 and buy a gaming computer or about $1000 and build your own gaming computer. $800 will get you a nice laptop that can run your games, but the graphics won't be as good. So you decide, and I hope that I helped.

Happy 'top hunting!
