I'm looking for a laptop that I can work and play games on.
I would like it to have a good processor and a good graphics card.
Preferably not a mac or Alienware.
and it would be great to have more then 5GB of RAM

Ok, if you are looking for off the shelf.
You'll be out of luck. Not many "good" gaming laptops come in under 1k.

As far as a desktop, depends on what you want to play.

Newegg has a good selection, and sometimes you can pick up a diy kit that will do well for a lot less.

Also i'd skip the intel's if money is an issue.
Amd gives you more box for your buck.

but it's still gonna depend on what you want to play.
Put together a list of the system requirements of the games you intend to play.
Then head over to new egg and look for their custom built systems, or put one together with the recommend specs(preferably the highest one of the games).

I don't buy off the shelf because they are frankly over priced and under powered, also way too much bloat ware.

I want a decent gaming laptop for under 800 bucks. I want an i7 processor, 8GB of ram, at least 750 GB of hard drive, and good enough graphics. I found the lenovo Y400 and the Sony VAIO but those are a little bit too expensive.
