Our educational system here is very different from Canada and i'am considering going there to study computer engineering to become a programmer

There is a difference between "programmer" and "software engineer".
Primarily, anyone can call themselves a programmer, but, it is formally taught as a two or three year program at a community college, leading to a diploma (USA: associates' degree).
To call one's self an "engineer" in Canada, requires a license. This requires a 4 year Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science, from an accredited University, plus 4 years relevant supervised documented work experience, and successful completion of an exam on "Professional Practice" (law, ethics, professionalism). Plus, being of "good character" as per 3 references.
Generally, engineering here is concerned with protecting public safety. If you're writing games, to be played on desktop or laptop, chances are, public safety isn't an issue. If, however, you're writing programs for automotive engine computers, traffic signals, or pacemakers, then the programmer needs be licensed, and carry liability insurance.

What laptops available for sale in canada have the least problems and last the longest?

I need to buy a laptop this summer and know too many people who have problems with their laptops, thought maybe someone out there can give me some advice based on facts

Most stable operating system commercially abailable.
No known viruses.
Comes with great software in the form of the iLife Suite (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, etc)
More flexibility then a PC being able to run multiple operating systems, including windowze.
Easy to upgrade.
Hundreds of companies make periferals and upgrades.
Built in webcam and mic.
Hundreds of games available, not as many in total number then a PC, but how many versions of Soduku do you want?
I've got a three year old Mac PowerBook G4, that has not had one single problem. In use everyday, all day.
