What is a good laptop to buy right now that would be able to play most pc games?

I am just now looking into pc gaming and I wanted to know what laptop specs I should look for so that I can play most pc games. I would be looking to play popular console games, nothing too complicated.

I would also like to know if pc gaming would deliver the same quality of gaming as consoles. Do pc games lag or have any notable limitations or setbacks? Would any laptops under $600 or $500 suffice for good & reliable pc gaming?

A REALLY good laptop could be a Sony VPCEG27FM Notebook PC! it's really good and it's about 300 or 200 dollars.It can support over 300 games

It does not need to be insane or anything i just want a laptop that I can write documents and work stuff. I will also settle for a used laptop but just give me a name of a laptop at least under 300$ and I will check on amazon, eBay, Craig's list, etc for a used one of the laptops that you named.
