Can you guys tell me where to start? I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to these styles of music?

1) More doom metal plzzz ;D I don't know much in this area, but from most of what I've listened to, I loved it quite a bit. Some of my favorites include bands like Warning, Boris, Melvins, and Sunn O) ) ). Lots of droney, stoner, experimental doom stuff. So thanks in advance if you can help me out a bit.

2) Melodic Hardcore. Bands that you would think of when you listen to Defeater's 'Travels' album. Some Comeback Kid I dig a lot as well.

3) Deathcore. I dig most of the more experimental side of things when it comes to deathcore. Bands like Arsonists Get All the Girls, Ultrageist, X-Ray of a Graveyard, The Irish Front, ect... Please try not to mention Dr. Acula. I really can't get into them very much. I did like their last album though.

4) Classic Jazz. I'll say this inb4 everyone shouts out Miles Davis. I already have the obvious essentials and whatnot when it comes to popular classic jazz artists. I also love Sun Ra and Herbie Hancock, so if you will, maybe something in that area. Even though I mentioned Herbie Hancock, try to steer away from mentioning artists that sound like something from Grateful Dead's 'Blues For Allah' album.

5) Dubstep. I just started to rave more than I used to.. These days raves are l lot about the dubstep scene rather than electronica dance or heavy techno stuff like Infected Mushroom or The Crystal Method. So for dubstep suggestions, I really like artists like Excision, Datsik, and lots of random remixes of other songs.

6) Trance. I guess you can say I don't know jackshit about anything when it comes to trance music. The only thing I know when it comes to this area is Slyder and random songs from Dance Dance Revolution games lol... So I really have no idea where to look. And much like dubstep, its pretty hard to find a starting point, because usually they come in single songs or dance mixes, when I'm usually used to finding music by the albums.

BQ: What are some styles of music that you generally know absolutely nothing about?

Answer
It's 6 in the morning where I'm at and I'm pretty exhausted right now but I'll do my best to answer your question while trying to refrain from passing out on my laptop. I'll start from 6 and work my way up.

6) Trance
'It's pretty hard to find a starting point'. To the contrary actually, it's pretty easy to find a starting point when it comes to trance - think of the two biggest names out there: Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto. Start with ASOT (A State of Trance - Armin's podcast) or ISOS (In Search of Sunrise - Tiesto's podcast) and I guarantee you'll come across the best music that ever came from Trance, dating as back as to the 90's and submitted to their pod-casts in as recent as 2011.

"Somewhere Inside" by Allure - Tiesto's alias. This song's from In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza.

"Control Freak" Remixed by Sander Van Doorn and performed by Armin Van Buuren, from the album Quest For Trance 2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHauzg8r-1w

"Sanctuary" by Gareth Emery featuring Lucy Saunders on vocals from his 2010 album Northern Lights.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMlVFa_754o

"Light the Skies" by Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren, it was on A State of Trance 2007 hence why AvB's name is in the title.

I'd love to post more but I have to leave space for the other genres...

I'm going to post this up now so you can listen to these tracks while I type up the rest, might take some time, will edit soon.

5) Dubstep
Glad you mentioned this one, been listening to a lot of Dubstep lately. Heavy stuff, intense beats. Borgore and Basshead were good suggestions:

"Dub Disco" (Lucky Date Remix) by Spencer & Hill
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar6ICXvP6BQ

Although this song belongs to the Trance section above it's a must-listen:

I don't want to link you again so just click on the video to the top right "C'Mon", it's a really good track. + You should really check out Above&Beyond - try their songs "Can't Sleep" and "On A Good Day" mixed by their alias/other-project Oceanlab.

4) Classic Jazz
Can't say I know what or how Blues for Allah sounds like and I'm not exactly Miles Davis' biggest fan, not entirely into Jazz musicians, vocalists maybe but not really the trumpet and all that. I do have a thing for Billie Holiday though:

Try this too: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqYtdtwH8M_bHqkNwiKjLPvty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090726112324AAbZGvu

Another song I'm really into at the moment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMgyKNr-Vbk - could be blues, jazz is not really my field of specialty, so I'll just move on to..

3) Oh wait, Deathcore.. I don't like Deathcore, not going to get much from me about it, try somewhere else sorry.

I don't know much about Melodic Hardcore either.

1) Doom Metal
You're listening to some pretty good stuff already - Sun O))), Boris. Wouldn't hurt to give you a couple more suggestions.

Aarni: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=WpkvY_Y4jno
Swallow the Sun: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=aUSQ2nNEbiE
Daylight Dies: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=B54o-JoQeyg
Salem: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=3IvoN4YUF4o
Acid Bath: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=zHwfKLWkm-M
Doom:vs: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=lRDd4aNeP9w
Mourning Beloveth: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=ctUy2CzT4jQ
Amorphis: http://www .youtube.com/watch?v=J_bbrNUsL2U (can you see the similarity between the castaway and the sickness riffs?)

I'm not going to mention bands like Tiamat, Moonspell, Paradise Lost, Anathema and Katatonia I'm sure you've heard all of them.

I hope you listen to and enjoy my recommendations.

edit* They won't let me post so many links up, I'm going to un-link them, you just copy paste yourself.
