Need Gaming Laptop Budget 1,800 US Dollars?

First of all I don't know how to build a PC so that means no custom built laptop, I know it's cheaper but to hard for me. Now what I want is a gaming laptop and that I can also use for programming
The specs I want are these:

Operating System:
Windows 7 (Any edition but preferable Professional)
Windows 8
No Linux or Ubuntu

1TB hard drive, It'll be preferable to have it with a SSHD or a SSD. Example: 768GB RAID 0 (3x256GB SSD) + 256GB mSATA SSD Storage Drive. Just an example like it says on the top!

More than 12GB of RAM
If it can have this without any extra price id like 3D support
More than 2GB of video memory, but it'll be better with 3GB of video memory
And an HD display more than 1900x1080

Final price has to be less than 1,800 the only things that are not that necessary but if possible I'd totally like to have it are:
3D support, more than 2GB of video memory, and the SSHD or the SSD.

These are some high-end specs you are looking for. You could almost instantly say no to the possibility that 4 storage disks will fit in ANY laptop. 2GB also is A LOT, just like 12+ GB RAM. This would be better of on a desktop PC

I do not recommend getting that laptop just for one reason. I see that you are a gamer. The most biggest problem that is in that laptop is that the video card is integrated with the motherboard. If you can see, the specs say "Mobile Intel® HD graphics". No model number after it, usually means it is integrated. The problem is that you will get little support such as driver updates, and you might have problems with future games.

That laptop has an nVidia video card which will be supported for quite awhile. It only has 6GB RAM, which is still pretty plenty. The graphics is 1GB which is awesome gaming graphics for a laptop. Also it is a Dell laptop.

While I do not have time to research more laptops, I can give you a few recommendations:
1) When you browse websites for a laptop, or check at the store, check the video card make and model:
1a) If it says Integrated Graphics, DO NOT BUY IT!!
1b) If it doesn't has a specific model number, like "Intel HD Graphics", or "Asus HD Graphics", do not buy it.
1c) To make it simpler, just look for keywords like "nVidia" or ATI, or Radeon. As long as it has a model number like "NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M", you are fine.

2) Look at the video memory. That tells how much RAM is in the graphics card. I recommend 1GB at least.

3) The screen size should be at least 15 inches. I have 15.4 on my laptop, which is good enough.

4) Stay clear of HP Laptops, and Compaq(if they exist). HP laptops are cheaper, but are known to break faster than other laptops.

Be careful. What you're looking for as far as actual requirements doesn't really correspond entirely to your "it has to have an i7" requirement. You really shouldn't be holding processor as a top concern. Processor is generally one of the least important things to be concerned with, because most currently-available non-completely-entry-level processors are more than powerful enough for most users. Game performance, for one thing, depends a lot more on the GPU/Graphics than it does on the CPU/Processor. For example, you'll generally find that a Core i3 + NVIDIA GT 650M setup is a lot better of a gamer than a Core i7 + NVIDIA GT 630M setup. It's the GPU that matters most, not the processor, when it comes to game performance.

Well for gaming, you need a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. And if you want to play on higher settings, you will want the little bit better graphics, which come on $600-800 laptops, which is good becuase they are in your budget.

Gaming is based mostly on graphics, so go for one with better graphics and a lesser cpu, then the other way around. (dont get a laptop with an i7 when it comes with a gt 520m graphcis card lol, get the one with an i5 and gt 550/550m lol).

4gb of ram is more then enough, so dont let laptops that come with more then 4gb persuade you. You likely will never use more then 4gb anyway, even when gaming. Also ram is VERY easy to add in later, you cant change your graphics or cpu.

Now as for graphics, dotn get a card because it has 2 or 3gb of video memory. Video memory has VERY VERY little to do with overall performance (popular to very popular belief). You wont need more then 1gb of laptops. The onyl way having 1-2gb even is semi useful is for 1920x1080 resolution (or above) or if you are using multi monitor displays.

Well most laptops dont come with 1920x1080 resolutions anyway (when even then 1gb is enough).

Out of those, id say the $799 asus or the $809 hp.
The hp has quite a bit better specs, but only a 1366x768 resolution screen (which is the normal laptop resolution), but the asus has a 1920x1080 screen.
The hp since it has better specs and a low resolution, can probably come close to maxing games. Since the asus is 1920x1080, and only has a gt550m you will likely only be able to play on med settings because of such a high resolution.
But you can always set the game to play at a lower resolution so u can play at higher settings.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate.

What is a good gaming laptop for 800-1000$?

Q. I am trying to buy a new laptop primarily for gaming and I've limited my budget to maximum 1000$.
I looked into the Alienware M11x, but I've heard mixed reviews.
If you have anything to say about the M11x, feel free to share that as well.
Otherwise, can you give me some good gaming laptops within 800-1000 dollars?

I was going to say the Alienware m11x, it has everything you need.. i doubt any serious issues. People dont make $1000 computers to break.

I've been wanting a reasonable laptop for studies and also a lot of gaming. I have around 500-800 dollars to spend on this laptop. I would like to play games such as Minecraft, League of Legends, BF3, at at least a consistent 60 fps, with an exception to BF3, and I don't mind playing on the lowest settings. Any good budget gaming laptops out there?

I am not sure how well these will play BF3 but they come close to your price range.

This HP can be customized to what you need. If you want better performance upgrade the APU to a A10, dedicated graphics and increase the ram to 8GB.

Brand buying advice

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. Lenovo will not allow people to read instruction on how to access the BIOS menu or to get info on their puters on their web site unless you connect to them thru Facebook. They do this so they can spy on their users. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate.

Ok so im looking for a solid gaming laptop for college and i have about 800-1200 dollars to spend on it. I'm not the greatest with computers so I just need some tips on what I should look for so I don't get ripped off and get get the most powerful laptop for my money's worth. Also any good sites that can give comparisons would be appreciated as well.

I need a laptop for games like Planetside 2, SWTOR, Guild wars 1/2, NBA 2k13 etc and for wording, and vchats. I use my computer a lot and my older computer that I am using at the moment is failing to meet my requirements. I heard that MSI is a really good brand so what is a good gaming laptop. I have around 500-800 dollars right know but I most likely will be able to have a budge between 800-1000 maybe 1100. Tips on how to make this money as a teen would be nice to. So please name some good laptops that would fit my need. MSI preferred other brands please state and the reasons why thank you and have a happy holiday.

wow.... you need good laptop that is fit for gaming. best gaming laptops are dell alienware but those will not fit in your budget so I recommend you dell xps 14 or dell xps 13 or sony vaio t series 13.

these are all best gaming laptops of today and are 3rd gen laptops so graphics cards and all are installed from before hand. also these come with the new windows 8 os which will completely change your gaming experience.

P.S I am not a huge fan of Dell, HP, Acer, or Asus but if those are good computers in your opinion please state so.
I understand that but that wasnt my question. I know that laptops arent ideal I do prefer desktop but I need the mobility.

To Start with Laptops are NOT good for gaming. they overheat.

There are some special Laptops being made for the higher end games but there over $2500.00
