Q. I was thinking of switching to a laptop because it would be more convinent and I found out about the ibook G4. It is a lot cheaper than other laptops so how is it different? Would it be ideal for me? This is what I do on my computer:
*use internet
*word
*sims 2
*starcraft
Could I do all these things?

Answer
Hmmm, I'm not really into gaming, but I'm guessing Sims 2 and Starcraft are games... so you might need something beefier for games... I'd go with a Pro... are you looking at used? cuz i don't think they call the iBook that anymore... I think it's just MacBook or Mac Book Pro... honestly, I have an old G4 powerbook Pro, and I'd much rather upgrade to something new w/ the Intel chips, especially if I was into gaming. I think the moment Mac went to Intel, they stopped using G4 processors, so by G4 I'm assuming you're looking at used, so for gaming, I wouldn't really recommend that, I'd suggest you go newer w/ something w/ an Intel processor instead... the G4's get really warm... and the Intels are more compatible w/ new gaming software & such

How do I make my laptop run faster with games and videos!?

Alicia

I have a powerbook G4 laptop. I bought it used and am not sure how old it is! It has a 867 MHZ processor and 640 MB memory. bus speed is 133 mhz. I don't know much about computers. When I am facebook and trying to play the games i is really slow and splotchy with u tube videos same thing....what are my options to speed it up to be able to play games and watch videos on real time?

Answer
rofl 867 mhz and 640 ram? 133 bus? no wonder its slow. Most new OS's likely wouldnt even run on that. My suggestion buy a new laptop. They arnet to expensive. I dont think any new games can support that, at least not the graphically intensive games.

How good is the laptop that is called the notebook?

Well. I really want a laptop called the notebook. And it is just the right small size for me. So I wanted to know how good the "notebook" is and if it is for me. Also I would want to know how fast it goes and where to find it.P.S please give me some examples of who this "notebook" would be good for. Please help me.

Answer
The terms "laptop" and "notebook" can actually be used interchangeably in most cases. A notebook can be defined as a portable computer that has its size reduced from its desktop counterparts.

However, there exists another kind of portable personal computer generally called "netbook," and, as the name implies, is designed specifically for general Internet usages (not for gaming, video editing, etc.). They are normally smaller in overall size, screen, and keyboard, and usually have less processing power than notebooks.

Buy a netbook if you want a lightweight computer, or a notebook for more general usages. Usually they are sold alongside with desktop computers at many IT shops. You can just tell the sell representative what kind of computer you want (e.g. what do you want to do with it) and you should be pointed to the right direction.

What is the difference between a netbook and a laptop?

AnswerMe

Will a netbook play films and and songs or can this only be done on a laptop? What are the main things that can't be done on a netbook that can be done on a laptop?

Answer
Well a netbook is a small notebook computer designed to be ultra-portable, lightweight, power friendly, and also very affordable. It is used primarily for surfing the Internet thus the name, interNETBOOK

But a netbook can also play films(HD Movies), songs and even games. So the major difference(s) between a netbook and a laptop, is that most netbooks are:
(1). They are generally smaller in size(any laptop with a screen less than 13 inches should be a netbook)
(2). They don't have any Disk Drive (either Blu-ray, DVD, or CD)
(3). The RAM is usually about 1GB
(4). The Hard Drive storage space is mostly between 80GB to 160GB...
