Gaming laptop recommendations?

Carson

My price range is really about 800 or less. I want to be able to run games without a problem. Games like Skyrim, Far cry 3, Minecraft. And preferably the new 2013 games. If a there is a 899$ masterpiece then ya please put it on there but besides that please stick to 800 or less.
Thanks I appreciate all the help, and if I was level 2 I'd give you all a thumbs up.

Answer
This is the main one that I can really recommend within that price range for you is this one:

**HP DV6t** (NVIDIA GT 650M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display) - **$749 + tax**
- Saved Configuration: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/load_configuration.do?destination=review&config_id=7674563
- Apply coupon code **NB7453**
- Don't downgrade the GPU to the GT 630M or to Intel HD 4000 graphics. The GT 650M is considerably faster than either, and if one of the lower GPU options would work just as well for you then I would probably suggest getting an entirely different laptop.
- Don't downgrade the display to 1366x768. The 1366x768 display makes things onscreen large, and is a low-grade LCD panel with very poor image quality due to low contrast. The availability of the upgraded 1920x1080 display is part of why I'm recommending this laptop; I wouldn't be recommending this laptop if it didn't offer it.

This hits the two critical points that you need to be focusing on, in that it has a decent GPU ("graphics card") and a decent display, and it hits those two points well.

The GPU is what matters for game performance. Game performance depends considerably more on the GPU than on anything else. If you're interested in game performance, what you need to be focusing on is the GPU, not the processor/RAM/etc. The GT 650M in the HP DV6 should be more then enough to run a lot of recent titles on decent settings.

The display is a critical issue in general, because a lot of laptops don't come with decent displays. 15.6" 1366x768 and 17.3" 1600x900 displays make things onscreen large, and tend to be low-grade LCD panels with very poor image quality due to low contrast. You should make a point to avoid displays like this when it is reasonable to do so, unless you require the larger text for eyesight-related reasons. The HP's 15.6" 1920x1080 display is well above this though, not just in resolution itself but in contrast/quality too.

@PJ: It'd be a lot more helpful if you suggested actual models and configurations rather than just list websites that each have vast selections.

Can anyone recommend any good pc games that I can play on my laptop?

DrRo93

Here are my laptop tech specs: AMD A Series Quad Core A8 Processor 1.6GHz (4MB Cache)
4GB SDRAM RAM
500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, ATI Radeon HD 6620G
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4 hours Battery Life

I'm not too fond of FPS Multiplayer games like COD. Not on the PC anyway. I enjoyed skyrim, saints row the third, bioshock infinite, the fallout series, and Assassins creed 3 all on my laptop.

Here's some games you may like:

Resident Evil 6:
The reviews say this games sucks. It will suck if you're a fan of horror. It is quite big with 4 different campaigns to kill time.

Watch Dogs:
A game you really must pre-order immediately. It's got free-roam and its just like GTA- only 10 times better. You have a hacking phone with which you can hack different things in the environment ranging from traffic lights to electric circuits to roadblocks to bridges to even a whole subway train. Since its releasing before GTA V in August or so, it can keep you occupied for hours.

L.A Noire:
In this game you're a cop! This means you can't kill pedestrians or ram them over with your car. You can solve mysteries and cases at your own leisure. You get to choose if the your suspect is telling the truth or lying according to his/her facial expressions or body language. And yeah, it has free-roam.

Here are other games I remember playing:
Spec Ops: The Line
Max Payne 1, 2 and 3.
Grand Theft Auto III - IV (All games)
Sniper Elite V2
Stranglehold
Inversion
Just Cause 1 and 2
Total Overdose
Saint's Row 1, 2 and 3
Wanted Weapons of Fate
Kane and Lynch and Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
Splinter Cell (all games)
Sleeping Dogs
Resident Evil 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Transformers (All games)
Gears of War 1, 2 and 3
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 and Future Soldier
Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3
Tomb Raider (2013)

If you wish check out the gameplays on YouTube.
