is it used because your ripping somebody off it will play any modern game at medium settings but not at full hd because of slow ram

Not looking for anything overly expensive or hardcore, just something that will be able to perform basic tasks and handle medium performance games (e.g. Football manager and Assassin's Creed).

It will do basic tasks well, but it won't play games like Assassin's Creed. TBH, if you want to play games and don't have a big budget, buy a console.

For example, Assassin's Creed 3 specs recommend a GTX 545 GPU. That is a desktop graphics card which is fairly cheap. However, the laptop graphics chip of equivalent power is very expensive.

That blows your budget by 2-3x.
