The Laptop graphics go to nVidia. something like a 660M will do fine.

**However currently the 7970 is the leading Desktop graphics due to a nice new driver update putting it ahead of the 680GTX.

You need to specify why you need the laptop, eg games or study.
How much RAM and Hard disk space do you need and many other factors. Graphic cards, windows xp, vista or 7. Battery life...how long would you like the battery to last for?

If you just going for the Look then Acer and LG are the best looking but you can buy stickers and skins and make any laptop look good.

Maybe you are more of a Mac person for that you need completely different specks. Give more information so that we can help you better.

That's one of the most powerful graphics cards out there (not the absolute best, but in the top 5) along with the best bang/buck gaming processor currently in existence.

The GTX 670 is slightly slower than the GTX 680 and previous generation dual-GPU cards, the GTX 590 and Radoen HD 6990. Since those last two cards are out of production, the GTX 670 is the 2nd-best card that's actually available on the market now.

Since PC games will be the most accessible entertainment source, I want a gaming laptop that can run most games at a decent framerate (30 fps or above) on mid to high settings. Actually my laptop: Intel Core i5-2450M 2.50GHz, with albeit not the best graphics, can run most games quite smoothly. Such as Starcraft 2 and the Total War games with ease. It was only about $1000 after tax + setup. You could probably find something better on NewEgg.com. That's where I was looking, and I actually found a really nice one for $800. My laptop's original price was about $600, I think.

To find out if you can run a game, and how well, go to GameDebate.com and to the "Can I Run it?" section.

NOTE: I did not get my laptop from NewEgg, but with a little research, you can find something good, and for a good price. $1200 is actually the optimal amount for a laptop that can usually run most games on High-Ultra. Or so I've heard.

As long as you're not a gamer and don't mind spending 3 times the money on a MacBook, it's a great choice.

I personally wouldn't buy one, because they are extremely overpriced for their hardware. I'm a gamer too, that's not why I wouldn't buy one, I just couldn't stomach paying a huge overpriced fee for something I know could be bought retail for thousands of dollars less.

The Operating System is absolutely beautiful though. I don't care what anyone tells you, as someone who works and lives completely in the worlds of computers with a list of certs a mile long and a Bach. in Computer Science.... the Mac OS is just amazing. Their utilization of that overpriced hardware is a work of art and their simplistic user interface designed for people who really don't know much about computers, while still built on a Unix core allowing power users access to the types of things we need and want, is just astounding.

When/if they finally make a Mac OS that will run on non-proprietary hardware, they may not kill Windows but, they will definitely take more than a considerable chunk out of their market percentage. (Hackintosh doesn't count)

There is always going to be new technology. For example, if you didn't have the cash to buy windows 7 when it came out, and bought one around this time, you'd find windows 8 already stepped in. My advice is to buy a laptop now, with strong capacities and good processors. Your lenovo sounds okay. As with any computer, take care of it and it will last. If you buy a computer with good specs, it will at least last you a few years. But this is just my opinion. If you like sparkly fancy stuff that just came out and has no reviews, wait. :)

However the new razer blade gaming laptops come with nvidia GeForce 765m graphic processors 2GB GDDR5 memory (they also come with intel HD4600 graphics)

I'm a greater fan of Mac for everyday use (obviously PC is better for gaming) so is there a notable difference between those two graphics processors?

Sell your mac-book on eBay, Just ship it with tracking and signature conformation. 90% of buyers on eBay are legit, (now the sellers are a different story) I sell on eBay all the time never had a problem. Golden rule, if its over $200.00, add signature conformation. And always do tracking info.

You should be able to, but probably not too well (don't expect to play on high). Your laptop has an Intel HD 3000 graphics chip. It's not a dedicated graphics card- it's actually attached to the CPU. It's not really meant for gaming and it only has a small fraction of the power of any modern dedicated graphics card but many games, including Diablo 3, are designed to run on older chips too, and your graphics card is more powerful than a mid-range laptop card from 4 years ago (the minimum to run Diablo 3)

Yeah you should be able to run it on at least high settings, maybe max. Your processor is way faster than what's required for max settings (i5 or i7, doesn't matter which). Diablo 3 wont need much RAM either so you've got enough for max settings there too. The only thing that could hold you back is your graphics card. I think it's a 1GB AMD Raedon card of some sort in a Macbook pro from Nov 2011? This should handle at least high but probably ultra. Pretty much any dedicated graphics card will handle Diablo 3 except the entry level ones, and I really doubt something as expensive as a Macbook will have a crappy graphics card.

My laptop should handle high/ultra too, but honestly I'll run it on low/med regardless just to make it run super smooth and to stop my laptop from bursting into flames. Your Macbook will get hot too so if you're going to be playing games on it for long periods of time I'd suggest a cooling pad for your Macbook. They start at $10 but I'd spend a little more and get one with fans built into it. Hot components don't work as well as they should and trust me when I say 2 hours of Diablo will make your graphics card pretty toasty. Cooling pad helps keep everything running optimally so you'll be able to chomp through Fallen Shamans on high/ultra settings for hours! :D

I have the option to get Windows 8 on a new laptop for no extra cost than getting it with Windows 7. However, I'm not sure if it's worth it. I'm primarily going to be using the laptop for gaming, papers, and computer programming. I don't know much about Windows 8, but it seems like a tablet OS implemented on a laptop. I feel like this sort of OS would only make things more difficult, but I want to hear what other people think. Thanks!

I would recommend upgrading, even though you think its a lot of money. If nothing else, you will be one more step up to date, which is important in an ever evolving world of technology.

Operating systems fall off the support spectrum after a period of time and therefore other vendors stop making products for them (or drivers, in the case of printers and other hardware).

How would i upgrade the video card in my laptop?

Ok, so i ordered the Dell Inspiron 17R in March of 2011. It came with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 card. I talked with Dell support about upgrading the card because i have come to realize it isn't the best. The tech support guy recommended the NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M (128-bit) 1GB card. This would be a great card for games I play such as SWTOR. Now, my question is, can I upgrade the card in this laptop? The guy in tech support said i can except he didnt really sound like he knew what he was talking about. So I now rely on you community. Can my graphics card for this laptop be upgraded?

Dr tech is right about your laptops graphics card is soldered, but there is a way to get around this. Dell support may have told you a half truth, you can get put a GT525 in your laptop, but your going to have to change the whole motherboard to do it. Because your Dell Inspiron 17R does come out with the NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M in more expensive versions, you can change the motherboard from a motherboard like yours with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 to one with the NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M or even an ATI Mobility Radeon graphics card which is more powerful. I was wondering if I should trade it for an alienware m11x from my friend, is it worth it ? Honestly I love gaming but Macbooks are really exspansive, basically is it worth it ?

No offense, but I think Macs are expensive because they are overpriced. The best solution would be to sell your Macbook and then buy a brand new m11x once the new i3/i5/i7 ULV processors are put into them. However, if your only option is the trade, then go for it, the m11x is a great gaming laptop.

I know the electric outlets in other countries are different from ours and can harm our electronics / laptops / game systems. Someone told me to get an adapter, but my friend's computer still got fried with an adapter. Are adapter's safe? Is there a way to charge your computer / electronics with something portable so you don't have to plug your stuff into a wall?

Yes, it might because the power voltage could be different than our own. When I visited Singapore I brought hair clippers and used the adapter they provided, and it shorted out. So just be careful and check to make sure whatever you are plugging in is compatible. I wouldn't think a laptop or game system would be harmed, but smaller electronics are more vulnerable.

Q. the trip from where I am at to singapore is 25hrs. I have a psp and a IPOD. I doubt either will last that long.

Do the planes have charging ports or places to charge the equipment? I am flying Singapore Air.

charging the ipod can be done if u have laptop. the laptop can be plug into a inseat power supply for laptop. there is no charging points for any device due to safety reason. there are power outlets but only can be use when the plane is on ground for ground crew use only. as for psp i dont think u require it after your psp run out off battery. every aircraft SIA owns has a entertainment system in every seat. u can watch movie on demand. anytime u want to watch a movie u can watch it from the begining. there are also computer games u can play with this entertaiment system. u can also listen to music if u want. there is also a booklet in every seat to guide u on how to use this service. best of all no extra charge. if still unsure the cabin crew are more than happy to help u out.
