I am looking for a cheaper touch screen laptop to purchase. Just for business uses a few not real high quality games.
What are your opinions on an Acer C120 DLP Projector 16:9

Answer
Good and cheap are not usually synonymous. Try Tiger Direct and compare prices against close out models at Office Max.

I am 13 and I want a laptop so badly, but my parents don't want to get me one for christmas. I gave up already about that and my parents are asking me what I want. I chose the new 8GB iPod touch. However, I don't just want that, I really want something good! I already have a good mobile phone, and I don't want another one (since it's barely new). What other electronic stuff shall I get?

Answer
heyy, honestly i would go with a PS3 it the best gaming system around(my thoughts) its really good the blue ray is awesome then games are beast, you can surf the web, you anit got to pay for internet like the x-box 360, i got mine when i was ur age and im 15 lol, if u got a ps2 with a bunch of games get the 60 or 80gb ps3 so u can still play then if not just get a 20 or 40 then higher gig like 120 and 160 is just a waste of money, want any ideas for games just message me

What makes Vista fast on some computers and slow on others?

Car Enthus

Im going to be buying a laptop soon, how can I know what to buy so that it will be one of the computers that runs Vista well and not sluggish?

Answer
Vista runs fast on mid range computers. It runs even better on gaming rigs; this is with all the visuals maxed out.

On a laptop, however, depending on what the specs have, you might have to make some sacrifices with the visuals. If you have a dedicated graphics card then you can do what you want with the visuals.

I bought a laptop last March when Vista was only 2 months old. It ran like a piece of sh*t; even with 2GB RAM and a Core 2 Duo processor. Bear in mind that those two are not the only factors that determine a computer's overall performance.

I downgraded to XP and joined the Vista hating bandwagon. I later installed Vista on my slightly more powerful desktop and Vista ran very smoothly. My conclusion, it's just Vista's fresh arrival in the market.

I last week installed Vista on my laptop again and this time the with the much needed SP1. I disabled some visuals and my laptops runs 5x better than when it had XP on it. Vista is the future and is here to stay. I personally don't even like using XP anymore.

I also have Vista and have been using Vista for nearly a year and a half on my gaming desktop and it runs like a beast. Destroys XP.

What is the best computer processor ever?

smoothydav

I have always wondered, what is the best computer processor ever made? Answers would be most helpful.

Answer
For Consumers,

Some might argue the Intel 80386 and others, the Intel Centrino/Pentium M (from 2004). This Centrino processor was actually a laptop processor, but it could be fitted into a 775 desktop slot with an adapter. It was the coolest (least amount of heat - 27W) processor of the planet, meaning it could be overclocked like crazy. It was a little known fact that this was the best gaming processor on the market for 18 months when overclocked and beat out every desktop CPU on the market at its time. Now, all Intel's new processors are based off Centrino technology like the Core2 Duo and Core2 Quad.

In my opinion it revolutionized the CPU world as Ghz were not and no longer emphasized - instead efficiency and low heat output was.

Is there a way to get over a fear of flying?

best gaming laptops europe image

suzeb109

I have a total phobia about heights in general and flying in particular. I can't even get on a ladder without being able to hold onto something else. I get dizzy and nauseated when I have a seat that is too high up in a stadium with the vertical seating such as the United Center in Chicago. I really want to get over the fear of flying. My husband travels frequently for business to Europe and Japan and he really wants me to go with him.

Answer
First off, try not to worry or be nervous. I know that seems hard not to, but the more you worry and the more nervous you are, the scarier it'll be. I believe that knowledge is key, and once you know the procedure it'll be a lot less scarier for you. (Since your husband is a frequent flyer, I'll leave out all the details about what to bring and how to navigate an airport.)

If you are that scared of heights, try to book an isle seat so you don't have to look out the window.

When you taxi, you barely feel the plane move at all. At this point the cabin crew will tell you all you need to know about what to do in case of emergencies and such. They will do a demonstration or show a video of where the exits are, how to fasten your seatbelt, when portable electronics can and can't be used, etc. The captain will come on and give a little speech about the flight and what to expect - something about how long it will take until you take-off, what to expect weather wise in your destination city, and how long the flight should take.

When the plane prepares for liftoff, it starts to go really fast down the runway, and then within 45 seconds you are up in the air. Things may seem a little wobbly at first, but that's just because of moving through the different altitudes. Your ears will pop as you climb through the altitudes also. (chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure.)

Once you are in the air, things will feel smooth. You will hear the humm of the engines, but that's normal, nothing to worry about. I actually find it relaxing. If there is turbulence, you might feel the plane wobble a little bit, but remember, planes are designed to withstand this, so take a deep breath and try not to think about it. After a few minutes, you will hear a ding. This is the captain letting the flight attendants know that the plane has reached 10,000 feet. At this point, the rate of ascent will decrease. You will also get an announcement that it's OK to use portable electronic devices at this time.

When you are approaching landing, your ears will pop as you descend through the altitudes (remember: chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure). You will feel the plane slow down and the cabin crew will prepare you for landing. As you get close to your destination, the captain will come back on and tell you how much longer until you land, and what the weather is like. When the plane touches down it kind of feels like a short jolt, and then you hear them cut the engines off and the plane slows down pretty fast.

From there, the plane will taxi to either the gate or the designation where a bus will pick you up. You wait for the plane to decompressurize a few moments before they start letting the passengers out. That was your flight.

To entertain yourself:
- Bring along a few book, magazines, puzzles (such as crosswords or Sodoku if you like those).
- Bring along an iPod, MP3 player, or CD player to listen to music.
- A laptop is good to have as you can play games on it, connect to the internet, and get any work done that you may have. (You have to have a WIFI card in your laptop and the airline will charge you to connect to the internet)
- Try talking to the people next to you. Sometime you will meet some really interesting people, and forge friendships.

If you are curious as to what it looks like from up there (you can see it while safely on the ground before being up in the air), here are some pictures of the last time I flew in the cockpit with my husband. Maybe seeing the pilots work and remembering that they have families will help you.

is 10mbps enough for 3 people to share on a wifi connection?

Lauren

I'm considering getting time warner's standard internet (29.99/mo) but want to make sure it'll be enough for 3 people (with 3 laptops) to use for video streaming, chatting, social networking, downloading, and everything else people typically use the internet for nowadays. Is it enough so that the internet maintains a decent speed?

Answer
Its quite enough, but speed might get slower in rate..!!!!

I can imagine several scenarios....

1) I want to sell diamonds to people overseas... but they need to inspect the goods in realtime and in detail. So I need a high definition telepresence with a camera that can handle detail down to a microscopic level. That kind of bandwidth can easily chew through 24 Mbps with a 50 Ms latency. My business will depend on people being able to inspect the goods and be satisfied that they are getting the real deal. They will also want to look me directly in the eye in realtime and see if they can trust me.

2) A doctor in Garunkuwa needs to do some very specialised surgery, so he needs the help of a specialist. The only problem is that the specialist is in Sweden. So they need to hook up a telemedicine connection and maybe also some remote surgery equipment. The specialist in Sweden can now watch the surgery live and if need be assist with the remote robotic arms. Lives are saved.

3) I want to start a business offering live televised Safaris to people who cannot travel to South Africa, but want to see the animals close up, live and in detail. Same scenario... this requires plenty of HD live video transfer.

4) I want to offer the banks a remote backup system than can do live instant real-time system backups. The banks entire customer database runs into the hundreds of gigabytes. How am I going to be able to back up that entire system offsite in realtime before the data changes so significantly that the backup is then already hours out of date?

5) A university wants to offer a course in Astronomy and to hook into several observatories worldwide. They could use the universities own backbone, but that would most likely tie up the entire pipe for an hour or two... or they could use a third party provider to supply the bandwidth needs for the hour of the week that the course is running.

These are all bandwidth demands that are current... not even accounting for future needs. The business opportunities are astounding. People in Europe and the East are already used to doing things on the internet in realtime. If they could do those same things with a connection to Africa, we would be raking in the bucks here. Virtual HD Safaris man... I'm gonna go patent that idea right now.

As the article mentioned:

Faster is better when it comes to WIFI, but some people argue that 10 Mbps may be enough for most residential broadband consumers.

Obviously there are cases where you can use more bandwidth, but these are a select few, and usually not applicable to residential users.
Every one of your examples are for business or scientific applications.

I believe that 10Mbps is more than enough for current WIFI residential use. More would be nice, but not neccesary.

EA might be enjoying their success with Digital distibution, but that also means they must tweak their content to fit the medium. You rarely get any content that requires more than a dual layer DVD, which is 8GB. That's about 2 hours of downloading @ 10Mbps. Hardly a trainsmash. Digital distribution can also cater for selective loads. Distribute the Main engine with enough level content for gameplay to start, and download the rest as the game plays out.

I am looking for a laptop for under $800 that render videos in sony vegas pro 2011 faster such as gameplay? Also i would want to be able to play roms and stream with manycam smoothly.

Also I am wondering what is the difference between AMD and Intel possessors

.

Answer
the diference is mostly price.

With todays technology, I think a quadcore AMD/Intel CPU is far more then ample for everything that a CPU was designed to handle.

Right now its all about the GPU, the faster the GPU the better, as CPU's are already at that stage where taking them further isnt really worth it, they are already taking silicon to the breaking point.

AMD will now focus on something called APU's, something totally new where a CPU is both a CPU and a GPU, AMD also owns ATi, for 3 years now considered the best GPU manufacturer hands down.

If you are looking into only gaming and only gaming, Nvidia excels in that particular ring, but not by much and their chips both have a very long history of running extremely hot and failed like fly's, but they are gaming GPU's definitely nothing to forget about if that's your thing.

I would recommend the latest HP Envy 14, top notch everything, excellent quality and performance for its size and class.
17 model is about 1100$ best case scenerio

Looking for a laptop with good graphics and processor?

Im looking for a laptop under 800 with good graphics and processor that will be able to play modern warfare 3?

Answer
The most important thing on a PC (esp. A laptop) is its graphics card. If you go on notebookcheck.com you can see how well different graphics cards handled certain popular games.

Once you know what graphics you need, I'd start going to online retailers and start pricing every laptop costing no more than $800 that has a graphics that powerful. I'd keep it excel or some spreadsheet because you can sort in any number of ways. When you've found all the available laptops you'll have a better idea of what you can get and where.

Apple tops the list, as might be expected from such a premium PC builder. Apple products are far from cheap, but they do offer a quality experience. Runner up Dell has a very different business model. It, like other high-ranking brands HP and Asus, operates as a volume laptop maker, selling many thousands of laptops and tablets every week. What should I do....?

best gaming laptops december 2011 on Best gaming computer
best gaming laptops december 2011 image

Galatea

Okay, so I've been best-friends with a guy since about November and December 2011. We began dating on February 4th, this year.
In the beginning, he spent a lot of time with me at school, cuddled a lot and all that. Since about two weeks now, he just basically ignores me in front of our friends (we have the same friends, as we're in the same clique) and they're geeks who like video games a lot, so they often talk about that. I like games too, but I don't game a lot since I only have a laptop, so I only play sims when I'm alone, but I don't mind war games and stuff like that when I'm with friends. So anyways, when they talk, I don't have a clue of what they're saying and when I do understand and try to join their conversation, nobody listens to me. It's like I'm invisible around them, or just an object. Sometimes my boyfriend will turn around and look at me, or give me a small peck on the cheek, or poke/tickle me, but he won't ever start a conversation with me. When we're alone we talk about ANYTHING but with friends...he just won't say a word.
Like today, him, a friend and I went to the piano room at school. My boyfriend plays guitar and me and the friend are pianists. There's only one piano in the room...so you can guess what end up happening. The boyfriend was playing his guitar, the friend was on the piano and I was in the corner, ignored, as always.
I normally wouldn't mind, I mean, if my bestie was around. But she's in love with someone and spends a lot of time with that person and I totally understand her for that. So I'm alone, everyday at school, while my boyfriend is chilling and talking about games with three or four friends. And I'm there, in the corner, just looking around, feeling like a social tool or something. I'M SICK OF THAT.
But there's another problem ; I'm not the quite of girl who whines about stuff like that or try to be controling, so I never tell him, because I don't want him to feel 'stuck' with me. -__-

What should I do?

Answer
He won't get upset with you if you don't bring it up all the time, so you need to tell him once and make sure he is listening. Whenever you can get him alone just tell him how you feel but try not to seem annoyed or angry, try to be reasonable and tell him your just a little upset. Try to spend more time with him outside of school and if you really want to know what his friends are talking about try to play the games with him or ask if he can show them to you. The internet (Youtube) is also a great way to hear about games even if you can't play them. Check out Tobygames on youtube. But if he doesn't start paying attention to you or including you or he thinks your silly for feeling that way then maybe you just don't need him. You could probably be just as in love as your friend is with someone else. Sincerely, A Fellow Gamer Girl

Laptop won't turn on, help?!?

SweetKarma

I have a acer aspire windows 7, got it in 2010, last year december 2011 it needed a battery replacement, I didn't have the money at the time so I continued to use the battery, well yesterday I was playing video games (grand theft auto san andreas) and all of a sudden it powered off and won't come back on, could it just be that the battery is dead? I just brought a new one, and waiting for it to come in, i press the power on button the light comes on for a few seconds with a black screen and i tried taking the battery out and trying the ac adapter method, the power light just stays on for 3 mins then power off, the fan doesnt even work, what could this be?

Answer
Is your ac adapter working?

Check if it's something to do with your laptop power cord or power source problem. Insufficient power might be the problem.

---Make sure your laptop power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. If power jack is loose you can find laptop power jack on ebay. However, fixing and soldering the power jack requires professional skill.

--Always, the green/blue LED on charger needs to be constantly on. If not, replace the defective charger. Since battery/ ac adapter has its own lifespan and does not last forever, to help you save up some, you can consider getting a charger under lifetime warranty from store like topmic.com

Is it possible to get a $700 Gaming PC that can play Skyrim on high settings?

best gaming laptops for 2011 image

Jett

My birthday is coming up and I want to get a gaming (laptop cause they're cheaper) so I can play AT THE LEAST 2011 games and below, but if I could get one for 700 that could play 2012 games like Skyrim that would be great! Thanks! I was thinking about going to my local computer shop.

Answer
Actually In terms of gaming and raw power... a desktop has a lot more to offer. You could buy say a 800 dollar gaming desktop, and the price for a laptop with about the same power, is about 1400-1600. If this changes you mind... take a look at MyCustombuild.com, they have a option for about 800 that will pack a much bigger punch than any 700 dollar laptop you will find on the market, will also play all games from 2011 and also ones from 2012(not ultra settings though).
ALSO*** Desktops are MUCH easier and CHEAPER to upgrade for gaming because usually the only upgrade you may need in the future is a video that you can pick up for 100-200 bucks to continue playing the newest titles. (really you can spend as much as you want on video cards, but 100-200 should do the trick.)

How much will my laptop go for online?

Joshua

I am a gamer, and I purchased a laptop in 2011. The laptop however wasn't built for gaming, but it sufficed for the time. Now 2 years later, It is out of date, and I dont have much use for it. I would like to know how much it would go for if i put it online so I can have more money for a nicer computer. Heres the specs that im aware of.

-Windows 7, DirectX 11 also
-Pentium CPU
-2048 MB RAM
-Dell computer
-It also comes with the charger

If somebody would be willing to tell me how much they think it would go for, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

I am looking for the best gaming laptop for around 1000 dollars, and I am wondering if iBuyPower is a good place to find one. Otherwise, are there any other suggestions? I am willing to pay up to 1100 dollars, and I of couse will go for less. Thanks in advance!

Answer
Going for gaming I see. Amazon is a very good place to shop for almost anything online, and they have some good gaming laptops, the ones I like myself would be the Asus brand. They perform so well and I've never had one problem with this brand. It's just plain out nice and all my games run excellent on it.
I went and found an Asus Gaming Laptop at Amazon for you, It's just above $1000 but you should check it out. Check out the specs, it's definitely worth the money.

Here's a link to it:

What's the difference between laptop and netbooks?

best gaming laptop brands 2012 on careleasedate.com | Powered By Jforum Toilet Tank on careleasedate.com

Crystal

clueless, netbooks look smaller...

Answer
So what is the difference between laptop and netbook? A laptop (also called a notebook) is computer which has been designed to be made portable, featuring a screen hinged to a keyboard. A laptop includes a battery for portable power and a touchpad instead of a mouse for input.

Mini laptops (also called a netbook, subnotebook or ultraportables) take these ideas further still, creating a new market above handheld computers, smartphones and personal digital assistants. The primary characteristic of these are smaller size and weight, which are pretty similar to the average diary, as well as costing less than a standard laptop with prices starting at around £150, an excellent solution during the credit crunch!

Mini laptops aren't as powerful as bigger notebook computers, and lack the power for big, demanding programs as well as an optical disc drive - so no CDs or DVDs. None the less, connectivity is a central focus for netbooks. Internet downloads are quickly catching up on hard media products, so perhaps it's not such a loss.

In short, the difference between laptop and netbook is a netbook is smaller, lighter, cheaper (on the whole) and simpler.

New mini laptops are expected to sell in the region of 5.2 million units by the end of 2008, 8 million during 2009 and up to 50 million by 2012 - a ten fold growth. Industry analysts are torn whether or not subnotebooks will cannibalize the laptop market, some suggesting that a mere 10% market share will be taken. However, in this economic downturn, people will always look for cheaper products and with mini laptops available from £150-200, perhaps there is a big market after all.

So is it game over for the standard laptop and pc? Unlikely; whilst mini laptops can perform dozens of tasks to identical or similar standard of larger computers, they will (for the time being) be limited by battery size, processing power and storage space, the difference between laptop and netbook is pronounced enough not to make the former obsolete.

Furthermore, when using a computer over a prolonged period of time, it would make sense to use a bigger screen and a faster processor of a desktop replacement laptop or a PC, particularly for demanding programs' such as games.

And finally, similarly priced but laptops, of varying quality, are available for around £200-300 leading some industry analysts to believe that the consumer focus will be on functionality and not merely size and weight.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, mobile phone manufacturers and providers are tapping into the netbook market with the Samsung NC10, LG X110 and Carphone Warehouse launching the Webbook - a branded laptop made by Elonex. Vodafone has linked arms with Dell with its Inspiron Mini 9, offering 3G mobile broadband contracts. Orange have followed suit with by cosying up with Asus and the Eee PC 901.

The difference between laptops and netbooks may seem very vague, but there is certainly space for both to function. If you've got a laptop, even reading this on one, lift it up. Feel the weight of it. Ask yourself, do I need all this extra space? Would I be better off with something smaller and lighter - if the answers yes, browse around the site.

How strong of a gaming computer do you think this is?

Gecko

How good of a laptop do you think this is? Please give your opinion and on a scale of 10. Basic, medium, or high end gaming?... btw i've already done my studying on computers I just like to hear peoples opinions. Also try to guess the brand and model.

OS:Windows 7(2012 laptop, windows 8 sucks d**k
Screen Size 14in
Res 1366x768 720p
CPU intel core i7 3630qm quad core 2.4ghz includes turboboost 2.0 so you actually get 3.4ghz at high usage
GPU Nvidia GeForce 650m w/ 1gb of GDDR5 dedicated graphics ram
6gb of ddr3 ram @1600mhz

Do whats your opinion?
Sorry forgot to mention but it doesn't have a solid state drive only a hard drive with 500gb

Answer
As others have mentioned. Screen size is a little small. Graphics card is good, processor is good. Video RAM is fine (having more than 1 GB of VRAM is pointless unless you plan on using some very high resolution screens (as in 2-3 1080p screens at same time). RAM is fine (no reason to have more than 6 GB of RAM unless you use VERY HIGH RAM usage programs like multiple virtual machines and the like). A year ago that would be very high end but now it is on the low end of high end ranking or the high end of mid range ranking.

For some time now I've been searching for that one game all of my devotion will be directed towards, but I've never found it. Now I turn towards others for help. I'm looking for a specific kind of game that can be run on a laptop, one that does not require a high-end computer. I'm looking for a game with these perks:
A game that is Free-2-Play
For the computer, and is compatible with a laptop-----Windows 7/8
A small download, one that is safe and reliable
Open-World, and GTA style (Plenty of vehicles to drive, or going on foot.)
Upgrades, like in Saints Row The Third (Car modification, character customization)
Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag style graphics (As realistic as possible)
A game that lasts, something that you won't get bored with in a year
If said game has police notoriety, one that is not as relentless as that of [Prototype] 1/2
Such a game that allows you to be an indestructible foe, like a fully leveled SR3 player
Destruction-On-Demand, that of Mercenaries 2 World in Flames
Vehicle-On-Demand, that of Mercenaries 2 World in Flames as well (Airdropping in vehicles)

There probably isn't a game like this, but I'll never know unless I ask. From my current knowledge, Saints Row The Third, Just Cause 2, and Mercenaries 2 World in Flames are pretty close in comparison with these perks. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

Answer
APB Reloaded is mostly like GTA. It's free-to-play and I think you would enjoy it. It does require a minimal graphics card that can withstand it. If you have a gaming computer, I think you'll be fine. It's a fun game, I think you would enjoy it. It has character and car customization and you can choose between becoming a cop or criminal, it's up to you! It's open world and you can face other people in real-time while doing a mission. Try it out! It is a safe and reliable download, you might be asked to download some toolbars (gamersfirst) but you can easily deny it and move on with the download of the game. Download it from Steam. Have fun!

Is a Radeon HD 6770m graphics card good for 2013 gaming?

Jonathan

I got my laptop 2 years ago, it an hp pavilion dv7-6143cl. It's pretty decent with gaming. However a recent game couldn't work because my graphics card was not good enough it said. This was a voxel game, had a minecraft look to it. (Sorry cant really remember the name.) There is another game that is coming out soon that I've been waiting for since 2011. The game is called Cube World. Would my graphics card be able to run it on at least low setting. I know I can look at the system requirements, but honestly I can never tell whether or not my computer meets the requirements.

Answer
just from looking at the screenshots I'm getting the impression that Cube World doesn't need a super fast videocard. I'm really surprised that some game did not run at all.

I play Minecraft on a tiny little netbook, and it sort of works when the render distance is tiny, graphics are fast, etc.... So I would like a better gaming laptop, but not a thousand dollar Alienware laptop or anything. I don't have that much money to spare, so if I can find a cheap laptop that runs Minecraft well, that would be great!

Answer

There's no sense in buying a low end laptop that more than likely deliver what you pay for. Nothing. Investing in any laptop with a graphic card and a low end CPU is just asking for your money to be burned. If you really want to get rid of your wallet, I accept donations. Or, you can make a quality, sensible purchase with long lasting, quality components that will provide outstanding performance for at least 2-3 years before considering an upgrade.

I've been searching for a while now for a gaming laptop in the price range of 2000-3000 US dollars with at least the option to have a 4 year parts/labor warranty on it. I have looked at Ibuypower and Alienware but both look a little less than optimal on repairs and warranties. Any suggestions?

Answer
Try dell xps laptops. They are much cheaper than2000-3000 dollars but have the option for a great 4 year warranty.

I used to own an acer laptop which recently broke down, and seeing it had cranky specs and was running the good old windows XP, I decided I should move on. So I'm mainly looking for a gaming laptop I may use for school stuff as well, with average specs and running either vista or 7, here are the specs i expect from the 650$ budget of mine: i5-i7, 500GB ~, 4-6GB RAM. And don't really care about the rest... Any good recommendations? Thanks in advance!
