Is it worth waiting for next gen processors/laptops or just buy one now?

Kamil

I've heard rumors of some "Haswell" processors by Intel to debut spring 2013, so I'm debating whether to wait for the new technology or just buy a laptop now. I'm planning on getting a light-gaming laptop, possibly a Lenovo Z580 (with the NVidia GeForce 640m). Need some advice, 10 points for best answer!
Or even next gen graphic cards, any changes to ssds, etc.

Answer
There is always going to be new technology. For example, if you didn't have the cash to buy windows 7 when it came out, and bought one around this time, you'd find windows 8 already stepped in. My advice is to buy a laptop now, with strong capacities and good processors. Your lenovo sounds okay. As with any computer, take care of it and it will last. If you buy a computer with good specs, it will at least last you a few years. But this is just my opinion. If you like sparkly fancy stuff that just came out and has no reviews, wait. :)

...

That sounded incredibly biased, didn't it? Sorry.

What website allows people in India to download the online game MapleStory?

Haloboyy19

My friend just went to India and we want to play MapleStory together. He tried to download the game onto his laptop in India, from the Maple Global English Site, but when it started to download it said it would take two days to download. Then when my friend let the computer begin downloading MapleStory, the computer shut off the download and left him with a Error message.

Answer
The English Global MapleStory has switched to be mainly North American now, so it's no surprise to me that your friend has had some trouble. This doesn't mean he can't ever play. I'm posting a link to Maple SEA, a version that I believe he will be able to download with little errors. If he still wants to play Global with you, try searching for the most recent version of Global on another website.

I want an Alienware notebook shipped to India as it is the BEST.How do I go about it and get it shipped to India? If there is any other company giving better laptops, please can you tell it?Which is the best company providing high-end gaming laptops?
I am not asking any relative to bring it in India.By the way,are they sold in shops in India?

Answer
Alienware does international shipping if you request it. But you will have to pay import duty that is the catch.
Best if someone buys it in U.S and brings it, cause in India their is a law 1 person is legally allowed to bring upto 2 laptops with them on a flight without having to pay import duty.
There are many companies that do gaming laptops, its just alienware is now the designer product. But it isn't as famous as it was before, as they are now owned by Dell.
There is the HP series of gaming laptops
There is the Voodoo Series

What is a good PC for gaming or how can I build a good gaming PC?

Robert

I would like a gaming PC/Laptop, but I always hear it's best to build a PC. How would I do this? How do I get started? Please Help.

Answer
Building A PC at first may seem like a stressful and scary undertaking but it's actually quite easy.
I have a few guides here that helped me a lot in the manufacturing of my PC.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Picking your Parts:
For purchasing your PC parts I would recommend these sites:
http://www.newegg.com
http://www.amazon.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com
http://www.ebay.com
⢠This site does gaming PC Part Lists ranging from $500-$1500 every month so you know it will always have current parts. It will also give you a good general idea of what you want and what's compatible in your PC:
http://newbcomputerbuild.com/newb-gaming-pc-builds-month/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Building Your PC:
⢠Complete Step by Step Video From Beginning to End of Building a PC from scratch by Newegg.com (Best One to Use):
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_56kyib-Ls
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxaVBsXEiok

⢠The parts in this guide may be a little dated but the principles of installing all the components are still the same.
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/274745-31-step-step-guide-building

⢠Another guide site on building a PC
http://www.buildeasypc.com/

This should get you started on your adventure of building your PC. Not only do you learn a lot from this experience, it's fun! You will also save a ton of $$$ vs buying a prebuilt from lets say Alienware or iBUYPOWER and it's custom tailored to your specific gaming/computing needs.

If you need any help or have any questions of building your first PC then message me on yahoo and I'll see if I can help you. I hope I helped you and have a great day!

How to save up for a laptop?

Max

I'm 14 going into high school, but I need a new computer and I really want a MacBook pro that costs nearly two grand. Any tips or advice to save up enough money before 2011? I would really not want to take surveys online, because my parents don't approve but what are some other ways to make enough money when you are 14.

Answer
You could ask your parents if you can open a savings account at a local bank, and start putting all to most of your money into that savings account. You could ask to do chores for money, and also see if you or your parents could open an e-bay account. You could sell video games or clothes that you don't want or need anymore that way (or see if there is a place locally that will buy some of your stuff). The most important thing is that you save everything you can.

What is The Best Gaming Laptop for My Budget?

TheVollsta

I got a budget of 27000 Norwegian Kroner which is about 4594 dollars.

I need a PC that's able to play most games at least on high and maybe, but not necessarily Ultra.

I'm new to PC gaming - you know i'm the typical Console boy or whatever.. lol so i dont understand much of the pc language.

BTW, I've been looking to buy the Razer Blade Pro when it comes out, but it seems like they aren't shipping to where i live

--I give best answer--

Thank you for your time!

Answer
For your budget you could get TWO Asus or Alienware (Dell) top machines with good graphics chips. Then you could winter in Majorca or the Canaries with the rest of that budget.

Where should I buy a cheap computer?

best gaming laptop value 2011 on Best 3 Gaming Laptops Reviews (Sony VAIO VPC, Dell XPS15 & Asus G51J)
best gaming laptop value 2011 image

oogabooga3

We need a new desktop. I want something up to date and reliable which is good for checking email, paying bills, downloading videos and is inexpensive. We don't need it for video games or anything really fast like that. Where is the best place to buy a cheap computer?

Answer
First question is how cheap?
There are used PCs as both laptops and desktops on Craigslist and Goodwill stores for under $100.
They are not up to date and not necessarily reliable, but they function, and that is cheap.

The second is about your monitor-display, or are you using a TV that hopefully is higher resolution than x768. 720p TVs cause display issues in WIndows 8. Most computers today do not include the monitor, but do include a keyboard and mouse, and may or may not include USB speakers.

Third question is whether you go ethernet connected by cable, or do you need wireless. Some computers include wireless. Others need an added PCI card or USB stick.

Fourth question is form factor. There are towers called desktops in various sizes and go down to slimline and bookshelf and mini's. Often, you get better performance out of a low priced laptop, especially if including a display, and the laptops usually have HDMI outputs and can accept inexpensive mice, keyboards, improved speakers, and have portability.

With form factor goes the ease of upgrade or repair. In general, the larger and less integrated the system, the easier it is to repair or upgrade it.

Although you do not need high performance, we usually want the best value for the money, and a bit faster response times can't hurt. More ram is better. Larger HDD is better. CPU scores can be looked up:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
A second tab has graphics scores that are less important to you.

Places to buy are many in the US.
There are weekly sales of a couple of models and clearances.
Walmart, Staples, Best Buy, Newegg.com, Tigerdirect.com, Amazon.com gets you a variety and you can google a model once you find one to see if it is offered for less somewhere else.

You read a couple of surveys on quality:
2012 survey:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2020964/apple-and-lenovo-desktop-pcs-tops-in-satisfaction.html
2011 Survey:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/244481/desktop_pc_reliability_and_satisfaction_dell_and_hp_home_pcs_get_poor_grades.html
and use it as a factor, but Apple is expensive for what you get.

My sister wanted what you describe. She has a few older PCs and monitors, but wanted one where the internet worked faster and boot up faster and application responsiveness up to $500 and she ended up with a Lenovo H430 at Staples with Windows 8, a Core i5-3330 and 8GB RAM and a 1TB HDD and that met her requirements well in a tower pc.

Now, you start with a couple that meet your needs and see if you can do better:
A basic slimline Acer-Gateway for $340
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113245
Model SX2370-UR13
A6-Series APU A6-3620(2.2GHz)
1x4GB DDR3 500GB 7200 RPM SATA III HDD
AMD Radeon HD 6530D
Gigabit ethernet, Bluetooth and WiFi
memory card reader
2USB 3.0 in back. 4USB 2.0
VGA and HDMI outputs
CPU score 2924, and graphics G3D 548
It would be nice to buy and install a second 4GB RAM card. That is easy.
$30 to $35 in a do-it-yourself
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/memory/#t=11&v=1500&z=4096&c=90&n=1&sort=a8
Just match what it has already in speed.
It is an early 2012 CPU below an Intel i3 but still fast enough with graphics power you don't really need but is above Intel integrated HD 4000 but not gaming level. It is the new Windows 8 to get used to, but is a faster boot and shutdown. Does what you want and the price is considered cheap and size is small, but upgrading is minimal.
In Intel, whether Newegg or Walmart at about the same price, size and brand, gets an Intel G640 Pentium with 4GB RAM and 1TB HDD. The CPU and graphics are a little lower in performance but the HDD is bigger:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gateway-SX2865-UR308-Small-Form-Factor-Desktop-PC-with-Intel-Pentium-G640-Processor-4GB-Memory-1TB-Hard-Drive-and-Windows-8-Monitor-Not-Included/22018103
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113244

The choices are endless, so you have to narrow down your preferences and price point. Then you can just browse the online circulars and sites.

Your goal is to find something that will have immense value in the future."

must be currently sold in stores

Answer
Things that will be rare or extinct, especially the last of something.
A gallon of gas. By then it will either be extinct or sold for a billion dollars a gallon. ***
A library cards. **
Paper items. A sears catalog, a set of encyclopedias, news papers, library cards, a dictionary, a dictionary of slang, a phone book, computers for dummies, cell phones for dummies, etc **
Paper forms, income tax, job applications, medical, etc. **
Plastic items. Prepaid credit card, drivers license and other id's, membership cards, club cards, savings/discount cards, etc. **
Seeds, as many varieties as you can fine. Especially trees and grass **

Anything that has just been or is about to be banned or eliminated due to political correctness, addictive health issues, public safety issues, new laws, protests, etc.
A carton of cigarettes. **
Guns- hand guns assault rifles, but don't include ammunition, it's too unstable.
Caffeine products and pills. **, ***
The wrappers and menus from fast food joints like McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC **
Candy wrappers. **

Collectible items and memorabilia especially newly invented or first issue items
A set of a book with both hard and soft cover versions, that just came out and is on the best sellers list. Be sure and include the best sellers list too. **
A set of coins and bills from the year it is buried. **
Comic books, DVDs, Books, Toys, etc. *, **
A bottle of wine ***

Tech stuff that is constantly changing
A TV, a radio, an MP3 player, a game console with game discs. *, **
A record player, a tape recorder, a CD player, a DVD player, a Blu-ray player, etc each with appropriate media. *, **
A cell phone with pictures, movies and music, etc on it. *
A laptop computer with web page archives of new popular sites *
A copy of the latest version of Microsoft OS and other products.
A blank floppy disk *
A thumb drive *
A GPS *

Common everyday items that will change by then.
Bills- electric, phone, insurance, utilities, rent, etc **
Prints of photos of the house interior and exterior, the inside of your refrigerator and freezer, car interior and exterior, the house's surroundings, local businesses, near by mall, etc. **
Currently trendy clothes and appeal.
A fashion magazine.
A news magazine.
A TV guide.

Things that are changing to protect the environment
Disposable but not biodegradable, diapers, an empty lighter, razors, plastic bags- grocery, trash, storage, etc. Plastic containers bottles, packaging, containers, etc. Cleaning supplies- Air fresheners, Swiffer duster/mops, soap, cleaning products, etc. **, ***
Light bulbs, all types, Incandescent, old florescent, compact florescent, and led.

Disposable and biodegradable, diapers, plastic bags- grocery, trash, etc. Cleaning supplies, green products, recycled products, etc. **, ***

Note- When burying these things they need to be sealed up properly so they don't degrade.

* Anything with batteries have to have them removed and an AC adapter included as the batteries won't last and corrosion will destroy anything they are in and don't forget the built in batteries in things. Also capacitors are bad except for solid state ones. And magnetic media will not last ie- hard drives floppy disks. Solid state media that doesn't loses it's information after x years should be used. Also include all cables, adapters, and manuals.

** Anything that is paper or otherwise degradable needs to be vacuum sealed. Anything that will fade should have a reference photo printed on and with permanent media and ink.

*** Corrosives, gas etc, need special containers, probably glass jars or bottles with a sealing method that won't degrade. Maybe melting the opening shut. Most lids/caps will degrade.

Can the new Macbook run Call of duty 4 and 5 on bootcamp through XP or vista, the new macbook is the alluminium one.
If not, if you are shure that it can't, because you have tried, i will have to buy a macbook pro for myself. I love gaming, and need a laptop:i travel alot.

Answer
It can, but you'll have to turn the settings down to get a good frame rate.

I've run QuakeWars in both Mac OS X and Windows Vista...and it ran better in OS X. I doubt that'll be the case with CoD, however, since it uses this thing called Cider that basically translates Direct3D to OpenGL and kills frame rate in the process, even on my MacBook Pro (early 2008 - Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz and GeForce 8600 512 MB) and my Hackintosh (C2Q 9650 and GeForce 8800 Ultra).

Should I buy a regular windows laptop or a MacBook?

Travis

I'm 16 and I really want a laptop and I've never owned one before but I've always used desktop computers I'm mostly going to use the laptop for music and stuff... And what ways can I save/get money for it?

Answer
If your looking to play games, movies, music and lots of multimedia then go Windows

However, if your going to use it for creating and editing music and movies go Hackintosh, a Mac OS in a windows, Linux, 86x pc or laptop.

If your looking to stream Music to an android phone and an OS with a good Appstore, then find a cheap laptop thats hand made without any OS and download Linux Ubuntu and install it on your laptop

Well, all the gaming laptop you will find above 65k. I am talking about good one. In 35k you will get normal laptop, which I would not suggest to go with, if you are only looking for gaming. Rather in that price go for desktop, you will get a good one with graphics card and all to play high end games flawlessly.

What are "good" kinds of laptop computers to purchase?

SM

I've decided I need a laptop computer, unfortunately I am technologically challenged. (I want something preferably from IBM, Compaq or Apple. I am not too comfortable buying from brands I'm unfamilar with) What does GHz mean, what models are generally recent and reliable? Thanks for your help and input!

Answer
It would help to know how you plan to use the laptop. If you plan to just serf the internet. Then, a lower end laptop with work just fine. If you plan to do a lot of gaming, I would suggest a desktop model rather than a laptop, because a desktop will have more power and be easier to upgrade in the future than a laptop.
I would suggest an IBM/Lenovo or a Dell laptop or desktop Try to stay away from Vista as a operating system for now. It's still too new and drivers are not available for all hardware.
If the programs that you are going to use are power hungry, you need as much processor, memory, and hard dive that you can afford. If you will be utilizing Excel spreadsheets. Look for a screen of at least 17." If you can afford it, go for a 20.1" screen for your laptop. You will need the viewing space. Try to purchase a warranty of at least 3 years to protect your investment.
Look locally at computer stores to see what types of features that you like and need. For example, Dell has retail stores in some malls in larger cities. Also, if you can, ask friends for their recommendations. Above all, read all documentation well to be sure you understand what you are buying and the warranty terms.

From searchnetworking.com, a gigahertz, abbreviated GHz, is a unit of alternating current (AC) or electromagnetic (EM) wave frequency equal to one thousand million hertz (1,000,000,000 Hz). The gigahertz is used as an indicator of the frequency of ultra-high-frequency (UHF) and microwave EM signals and also, in some computers, to express microprocessor clock speed.

An EM signal having a frequency of 1 GHz has a wavelength of 300 millimeters, or a little less than a foot. An EM signal of 100 GHz has a wavelength of 3 millimeters, which is roughly 1/8 of an inch. Some radio transmissions are made at frequencies up to hundreds of gigahertz. Personal computer clock speeds are increasing month by month as the technology advances, and reached the 1 GHz point in March of 2000, with a processor from AMD, closely followed by a 1 GHz Pentium 3 from Intel.

From Merriam-Webster, a gigahertz is a unit of frequency equal to one billion hertz.

How do you convince your parents to buy a gaming laptop?

Well, we saw a an asus g74 gaming laptop for under $900 on e-bay. We brought it on my aunt's account but we used my mom's credit card for it, but the money never transferred. My boyfriend said it was because my mom had to use/make her own in order for the payment to be successful.

We did made my mom her own e-bay account but we did not make a paypal account for her just yet. As soon as we were about to make my mom's paypal account. My aunt logged into her account on her phone kicking mom's account out on my computer and signing my aunt's account in the computer.

Things got confusing because every time we did something e-bay kept switching the two accounts around for a good few seconds then stopped. After everything seems to be back in order we went ahead and tried to re-order the computer on my mom's account but paypal said wrong password or user name. My aunt got a bit furious and it was stressing both me and my mom out. We tried about four times then went on with my aunt's doing the same thing to her as well.

She then went onto yahoo to get a verification email from e-bay in order to reset her password. However, instead of saying her original username for e-bay with password reset verification. It gave her my mom's user name instead. She got mad and said someone had messed up her account and pointed fingers at me and my sister when we said that we did not even touch her paypal account.

Another thing had happen when we logged into paypal, my aunt had to re-enter her 1st security code in but it kept failing. But when I put in the security code. The 1st security code in for my mom's yahoo account. It logged in successfully, giving her further proof/believing that I messed up her account.

We have been fighting with e-bay with three days trying to buy that computer. The seller said he would re-list the computer on the site and he did. We re-brought it on my mom's account. My mom got a phone call from her bank saying that money has been transfer. My aunt gotten confused again and tried to re-log into paypal with the order saying "completed."

My aunt then told my mom to call the bank up and ask for a refund. My mom did so without telling me what was going on. My aunt had said we had to wait 6 days for mom to get money back, so we cannot buy anything on e-bay. Today is the 5th day and I asked my mom a question and she said that the seller has refunded the money back to us since we were having so much problems.

Me and my sister is really upset about this, we have the money for that laptop but the only one who can order it for us is our mom and aunt, but they suggested on finding another gaming laptop with that same price. I told them that they will not see another gaming laptop with that same price and they should have let someone else in the family who order a lot of stuff online order the laptop for us.

We tried everything and nothing seem to have worked. I kept getting into constant arguments with my aunt and I felt like we wasted that seller's time... Is there anyway I can convince them to give it one last try?
At the first question: I am 19 years old, I have the money for that computer. However my mom is buying the computer for me and I will pay her back. A gaming laptop is FINE for me why is that? It is because the programs I run are to difficult for a normal laptop to handle. Gaming computers/laptops = High performance computers. My boyfriend builds gaming computer and go to school for it. So I know what I am talking about when I want to buy a gaming laptop.

At the second question: I am having that same type of way. My boyfriend said the exact thing you said before I went to yahoo answers to have my question solved. However I just recently talked to my aunt, she said that the seller for the computer has refunded our money and we have to wait 6 days for the payment. I am confused about this? Should I just call e-bay and paypal up to let them know what is going on?

Answer
I don't know how old you are, but if you are anywhere under the age of 18, you should NOT have a gaming laptop. You just don't need one. An everyday laptop will do.

However...

If your family is just rich to have have enough money to buy you a gaming laptop, then you should be spending your OWN MONEY!

What is the very best gaming laptop I can get for under 900 dollars?

Alex

Ive been trying really hard to find a gaming laptop lately but I'm no computer genius haha. I would love a laptop that can run skyrim on at least medium settings and minecraft on high setting with no lag. I'm not amazing with computers so a lot of help would be incredible. Sadly though I can't go over 900 dollars. Thanks! :)

Answer
Choosing a laptop computer can depend on whether youâre looking for a cheap computer or if youâre looking for the best performance. I will focus on looking for the best computer according to its performance without taking into account its price. There are many factors that can be considered when choosing a laptop, but the most important features to pay attention to are processor speed and amount of RAM, CD-ROM, USB and floppy drives, and hard disk space.

I am looking for a laptop for under $800 that render videos in sony vegas pro 2011 faster such as gameplay? Also i would want to be able to play roms and stream with manycam smoothly.

Also I am wondering what is the difference between AMD and Intel possessors

.

Answer
the diference is mostly price.

With todays technology, I think a quadcore AMD/Intel CPU is far more then ample for everything that a CPU was designed to handle.

Right now its all about the GPU, the faster the GPU the better, as CPU's are already at that stage where taking them further isnt really worth it, they are already taking silicon to the breaking point.

AMD will now focus on something called APU's, something totally new where a CPU is both a CPU and a GPU, AMD also owns ATi, for 3 years now considered the best GPU manufacturer hands down.

If you are looking into only gaming and only gaming, Nvidia excels in that particular ring, but not by much and their chips both have a very long history of running extremely hot and failed like fly's, but they are gaming GPU's definitely nothing to forget about if that's your thing.

I would recommend the latest HP Envy 14, top notch everything, excellent quality and performance for its size and class.
17 model is about 1100$ best case scenerio

Looking for a laptop with good graphics and processor?

Im looking for a laptop under 800 with good graphics and processor that will be able to play modern warfare 3?

Answer
The most important thing on a PC (esp. A laptop) is its graphics card. If you go on notebookcheck.com you can see how well different graphics cards handled certain popular games.

Once you know what graphics you need, I'd start going to online retailers and start pricing every laptop costing no more than $800 that has a graphics that powerful. I'd keep it excel or some spreadsheet because you can sort in any number of ways. When you've found all the available laptops you'll have a better idea of what you can get and where.

best gaming laptops december 2010 image

Here's the whole thing, my cousin copies me alot and I just want to know if he's lying.

Okay, me and him love playing games on the computer and a couple of months ago we had bad computers and couldn't play the games we wanted to. I was the one that got him into these games if it wasn't for me he wouldn't even be playing them , anyways.. I got a ps3 on December 2010 and i played for a while then he came out of nowhere and said he had one , i played along for a while until he said his dad put in his truck and for a year he's been telling me this, i was suspicious But still played along, but then my ps3 broke in 2011 , and he's still saying his ps3 is in his dads truck so at this point , supposedly we both had ps3's and now we both have crappy computers.. Okay so for a while we play games on the PC and we get so deep into our gaming that we try some newer games , those games don't work for our PC . Okay we stay bored for a while until he uses his moms laptop , the laptop could play the games that we couldn't play , now i have an old computer and he has a laptop . Now he's playing some of the newer games and I'm left bored .. He tells me how good the games are and now i get frustrated. Then out of nowhere his parents gets a new desktop and now he has a computer upgrade(but his parents doesn't let him use the desktop) , now I'm mad, so we talk for a while , then i bring up getting a ps3 on Christmas or black Friday, then he's like "the games on the PC aren't even that good, im going to ask my mom if i can get a ps3"a week passes and he says he's gonna get one , now i get heated then i say "don't you already have one in your dad truck?" then he says he lied about the ps3 being in his dads truck the whole time, and he says his ps3 broke the same time mine did . now i really get mad and then he gives me some bullshit excuse saying his ps3 Was on his bed and his sister was on his bed and she kicked it off , now im like -__- whatever and now he has a good laptop playing the games i'd like to play and now he's saying hes getting a ps3. Everytime we talk he's like "man these games aren't even good on PC its all gonna be worth it when we get our PS3's on Black friday or christmas"

His dad is pakistani and his mom is haitian. So now I told him on monday that my parents are getting me ps3 on black friday, and on the same day i told him that he said "i'm getting one today" Im like -__- okay sure.... Now he saying hes getting one on Thursday @ walmart.

I get kind of mad because its not fair how I am the one that got him into gaming , and now hes getting a ps3 because I am( if hes telling the truth)...One day he was talking to me on the phone and I finally spoke up and i said "are you sure your getting one on thursday" then he asked his mom when we were on the phone and she sounded so confused like "PS3 ? you think im getting you a Ps3?" he put me on mute so couldn't hear then comes back and says "I hate how she switches her mind" im like -___- okay. I knew he was kind of lying , then he says "im gonna get that ps3 on thursday , they will come around" and if i know his parents(they are old fashioned) they aren't going to Walmart after thanksgiving( he is coming to my house) just to give him a ps3. The next day he tells me "Its confirmed I'm getting a ps3 after i leave your house, now my dad is going to take me" and now fast forward to today he saying "I don't even know if its my mom or dad whos going to get me my ps3" . what i find weird about the whole thing is how is he going to keep lying and switching up his story.

Now he's coming over to my house for thanksgiving( I live 2 county's away and he has a 7-year old sister and 14 year old sister) and he's saying when he leaves he is going to the nearest walmart to get a ps3. Who is the right mind is going to spend 200 dollars on your son @ night time after you just ate and your tired, and his dad and mom are both strict and old fashioned. Honestly, I have to say he is a good actor if this is a lie cause he is making this sound so convincing.

I just hate how he keeps lying, and I'm mad about how he keeps copying me, OMFG.

What do you guys think?

Answer
My thinking is totally different. I cannot guess a correct answer. I am not a lie detector.

If you genuinely want to come out of such problems, both of you should never get mentally confused like this.

Generally, we reap what we sow. Out shadow follows wherever we go. Every good and bad action has its own reaction.

best gaming laptops december 2011 image

That Guy

So i have an alienware laptop that i bought in December of 2011 and its time for upgrading some parts. ive recently bought Battlefield 3 and the multiplayer runs okay but it needs to run smoother, much smoother. I know my laptop is old compared to all the new ones out there but if i were to upgrade the parts, it'll be right up there with all the new tech. i want the Nvidia 780M graphics card but i have absolutely no idea where to purchase it. i google where i can buy one and all it links me to are articles. well the 780M is my dream graphics card but basically anything newer than my current graphics card would probably make a world of a difference. so my two questions are: What parts should i get? and where can i buy them(links would be great)?

*I do want to do hardcore PC gaming and the parts im looking to upgrade are GPU and CPU.
-Here are my specs:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
CPU: Intel Core i7-2760QM @ 2.40GHz

Thanks!
My Alienware laptop model is the M17x
And yes it is possible for the gpu to be replaced/upgraded GauravS. The service manual to my laptop is here: http://tinyurl.com/mw2kbpg
Also, how do I get the GTX 780M? because I dont have the warranty anymore(i only had it for 1 year) and i have been looking for that gpu online for a while now and i havent found it nor a price for it, but please let me know what GPUs are compatible with my laptop that are better than my current one. Thanks again!

Answer
Hi That Guy,

Post the Alienware model so that I can check if the Nvidia GTX780 M would work with the system and if not what are the other options available.

Many Alienware laptops have discrete video cards that can be replaced/upgraded. You may also check the Service Manual of the system to know if it is possible to replace the video card individually from the system. You can get the manual for your system from the link below:

http://dell.to/10EcpwS

On the link, enter the Service Tag of your computer and click on 'Submit' to get the relevant documentation.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
GauravS

Whats my best choice in laptop?

Alucard

I have a budget of £800 Im looking for a new laptop. I want it solely for gaming, skyping and for the internet. Unfortunately I know nothing of hardware so I don't know what Im looking for. I currently have an Acer with about a 17inch screen and a large keyboard to match. I would prefer large for both and I would also prefer a webcam and mic built in but if not then I can buy them elsewhere. If any more information is needed then I will do all I can to provide. Im just tired of my old laptop struggling to run minecraft and being unable to run pretty much any new game and overheating with youtube if I don't hold it the right way.
The problem is that I have to buy a UK version otherwise it wont have coverage and there will be problems with repairs and compatibility. I cant find a HP Envy but I can find HP Pavilion. The only Envy I could find was http://www.amazon.co.uk/dv7-7201sa-17-3-inch-Notebook-Processor-Integrated/dp/B009YY80P0/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356006906&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Other than that I found a couple of things close to your recommendation:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-NP355V5C-SuperMulti-Graphics-Premioum/dp/B008EJGJHC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1356007095&sr=8-13

Am I getting close? I think Im willing to go up to £1000ish but Id prefer to stick to £800

GT 650M gaming can be looked up. The 1080p screen may slow the frame rate for low-medium-high, but I cannot find a better GPU/CPU combo at under £800

The HPs in the price range are not even close. Lenovo Y series is 15.6" not full HD
This Samsung is a better brand and costs a bit more:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-5-550p-17-3-laptop-silver-17563638-pdt.html
It is x900 resolution instead of x1080.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M on first you show is garbage compared with GT 650M
cheaper Samsung NP355V5C 7670M is similar to GT 630M, has a weaker A10-4600M CPU at 3158 score, is not full high def, is 15.6" where I thought you want a 17.3"
HP Pavilion dv7-6c01ea has a dismally slow CPU compared to everything else presented so far, and is still only HD 7670M.
At your price point, you want GT 650M, and only Dell and Lenovo show that so far, and dell is 17.3" full High def at under 800.

USA prices are irrelevent. There is no VAT here and instead prices without local sales tax of up to 8%. The competition is also higher here, so pricing is lower. Totally a waste to look at USA prices.
The 739 pound Dell ordered today is the way to go (prices go up or down later) or pay more for a Samsung of lower specs. Unless you find another GT 650M or higher graphics.
Samsung at Amazon UK is available:
15.6" Core i5 with the GT 650M in x768 lower def screen:

What is a reasonably priced gaming laptop?

Joshua of

My old laptop reaching the end of its life and I am due for a new laptop, and I'd like a gaming laptop (as that is what I do mostly on my laptop now).
I am looking for a reasonably priced one it possible; I do know gaming laptops are more pricy that most. I'd prefer to not spend more than $1500 on one, but if need be I am willing. If you know f a good one cheaper than that that's better!
Thanks in advanced!

- These models come with the 1920x1080 display. There are other models that come instead with a 1366x768 display, but those models are not recommended unless you need the larger text. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.

Note: Another answer here recommended the "ASUS N56VZ-ES71". This model is not a good option, because it comes with a 15.6" 1366x768 display. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast. It also has the slower GDDR3 version of the GT 650M instead of the GDDR5 version, but it's still a decent GPU.

The N56VZ is a good option if you buy the N56VZ-RB71 which comes with a 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display, but the N56VZ-ES71 is a bad option.

Kenneth

i was wondering if there were any good computer under $600 ideally. i prefer for it to be good at gaming like minecraft, saints row the third, diablo 3, etc. i dont really know how to build computers, keep that in mind. thanks!

Answer
I didn't know how to build computers until I watched a few YouTube videos, most notably the Tom's Hardware and Newegg DIY videos. It's easy, fun, and you save money. I am just a dumb 15 year old but I still managed to put together $4000 of parts in under an hour with no prior experience whatsoever. Having said that, the suggested Asus computer is a great laptop and, quite frankly, cannot be beat for the price. But hear me out-watch one or two YouTube videos on how to build a computer. If you don't feel like you can do it, I get it, but if you want to give it a shot, just post another question about helping you choose parts-I'm sure someone will help you.
Good luck.

Is it possible to upgrade the video card of my dell inspiron laptop?

Legion O

Is it required to only buy the graphics card at dell company since my laptop is dell?
any suggestions on what's the best graphics card now available? especially for 3d animation making and gaming.

Answer
It is not necessary to buy a graphics card from Dell even if you own a Dell laptop. Chances are that you will get charged more from Dell. However, if you change the graphics card on your own, you will probably violate the warranty on the laptop. What I would suggest is checking the specifications of the laptop and finding what socket does the graphics card require (and the type, e.g. AGP). You can then hunt for a newer graphics card and their prices on websites such as newegg.com. Also check for graphics card reviews on anandtech.com and Tom's Hardware. I hope that you are comfortable with opening the laptop though, since it can be a pain.

If you are not comfortable with fiddling with laptop hardware, I recommend contacting Dell for the upgrade. In any case, don't forget to back up your data.

Happy gaming!
