How do you convince your parents to buy a gaming laptop?

Kairi Hito

Well, we saw a an asus g74 gaming laptop for under $900 on e-bay. We brought it on my aunt's account but we used my mom's credit card for it, but the money never transferred. My boyfriend said it was because my mom had to use/make her own in order for the payment to be successful.

We did made my mom her own e-bay account but we did not make a paypal account for her just yet. As soon as we were about to make my mom's paypal account. My aunt logged into her account on her phone kicking mom's account out on my computer and signing my aunt's account in the computer.

Things got confusing because every time we did something e-bay kept switching the two accounts around for a good few seconds then stopped. After everything seems to be back in order we went ahead and tried to re-order the computer on my mom's account but paypal said wrong password or user name. My aunt got a bit furious and it was stressing both me and my mom out. We tried about four times then went on with my aunt's doing the same thing to her as well.

She then went onto yahoo to get a verification email from e-bay in order to reset her password. However, instead of saying her original username for e-bay with password reset verification. It gave her my mom's user name instead. She got mad and said someone had messed up her account and pointed fingers at me and my sister when we said that we did not even touch her paypal account.

Another thing had happen when we logged into paypal, my aunt had to re-enter her 1st security code in but it kept failing. But when I put in the security code. The 1st security code in for my mom's yahoo account. It logged in successfully, giving her further proof/believing that I messed up her account.

We have been fighting with e-bay with three days trying to buy that computer. The seller said he would re-list the computer on the site and he did. We re-brought it on my mom's account. My mom got a phone call from her bank saying that money has been transfer. My aunt gotten confused again and tried to re-log into paypal with the order saying "completed."

My aunt then told my mom to call the bank up and ask for a refund. My mom did so without telling me what was going on. My aunt had said we had to wait 6 days for mom to get money back, so we cannot buy anything on e-bay. Today is the 5th day and I asked my mom a question and she said that the seller has refunded the money back to us since we were having so much problems.

Me and my sister is really upset about this, we have the money for that laptop but the only one who can order it for us is our mom and aunt, but they suggested on finding another gaming laptop with that same price. I told them that they will not see another gaming laptop with that same price and they should have let someone else in the family who order a lot of stuff online order the laptop for us.

We tried everything and nothing seem to have worked. I kept getting into constant arguments with my aunt and I felt like we wasted that seller's time... Is there anyway I can convince them to give it one last try?
At the first question: I am 19 years old, I have the money for that computer. However my mom is buying the computer for me and I will pay her back. A gaming laptop is FINE for me why is that? It is because the programs I run are to difficult for a normal laptop to handle. Gaming computers/laptops = High performance computers. My boyfriend builds gaming computer and go to school for it. So I know what I am talking about when I want to buy a gaming laptop.

At the second question: I am having that same type of way. My boyfriend said the exact thing you said before I went to yahoo answers to have my question solved. However I just recently talked to my aunt, she said that the seller for the computer has refunded our money and we have to wait 6 days for the payment. I am confused about this? Should I just call e-bay and paypal up to let them know what is going on?

Answer
I don't know how old you are, but if you are anywhere under the age of 18, you should NOT have a gaming laptop. You just don't need one. An everyday laptop will do.

However...

If your family is just rich to have have enough money to buy you a gaming laptop, then you should be spending your OWN MONEY!

The CPU needs to be fast, 3rd Generation i7 Recommended.
Windows 7 Recommended. NOT Windows 8. If you have to get Windows 8, then get it.

The CPU is the most important thing, I want a FAST Laptop, but cheaper than anyone else sells there laptop for.

Things I will use it for.

Converting Video files to other formats. Making the video files smaller, ASAP.

Making DVDs, like converting an avi video file to ISO using Convert X to DVD. ASAP.

I don't want to sit and have to wait, I want the video file converted, I want the DVD making software to convert my video file FAST and have it ready for burning ASAP.

I want to be able to start a program, and have it loaded ASAP.

When I start Autodesk 3DS Max 2012 x64, I want it loaded ASAP.

So, lets see if you guys can find the cheapest and fastest laptop out there.

Lenovo, HP, Dell, Sony, Samsung, ASUS, MSI. etc.
I need a screen no smaller than 15.6"
I have $3000, Find the cheapest and fastest laptop available. Maybe under $2000.
It has to be just as fast, or faster than the other manufacture. It has to cheaper than the other manufacture but either just as fast or or faster.

Answer
Dont get windows 8. I suggest you to take a look at ASUS G75VW-DS73-3D. Under 2000 bucks.

It has i7_3610QM so you will be able to render stuff really fast in 3DS MAX and loading up time is also fast.

And it has top of the video card so you can pretty much play all the games and future games.

Samsung laptop having performance issues, tips on fixing?

Filip

To start out with I'm not even sure what kind of model this laptop is because it doesn't seem to say anywhere. I can provide some information on the hardware. The laptop has an i7 processor and 6GB of Ram. These specifications mean it should be a very good machine, yet for example I can barely run simple browser games that use java to render 3d images. The sticker on the computer says i have "ATI mobility radeon premieum graphics" but I have not tried playing with any of the settings. The computer is running windows 7. While I try to play certain browser games on the laptop it seems to get extremely hot (painful to the touch) and the fans on this computer seem to be working at full capacity nonstop even when I have just facebook open. My main suspicions are that the computer is overheating, but I am unable to take the computer apart because one of the screws is missing a thread. Regardless even so I feel like there has got to be some hardware issues, because overheating should not render the computer basically useless when just sitting on facebook for example. I do use the laptop to program for school and when I was installing "Microsoft Visual Studios 2012 express" I noticed it added a ton of "x86" files could these be having any effect? I also notice that when i program the computer tends to get bogged down. I really am looking for any tips, I spent 900 dollars on this computer thinking it would have very good performance, and am getting extremely irritated by these issues. After all it should be able to handle games I have played on other computers from before 6 years without even breaking a sweat. Please leave your suggestions/thoughts/answers below! I will be extremely grateful

Should i get a laptop for xmas or my birthday?

Alexa

Which one would you chose? Im asking for a macbook and my mom keeps asking me if i want it for my birthday or if i want it for christmas. My birthday is on November 10th.

Answer
You should MAYBE get the 3DS.

Because you can LOWER the VOLUME of 3D so it does NOT give you headaches for the first time in your life (if you're the kind of person to ever get headaches from 3D, otherwise just turn the 3D all the way up).

And you can also turn the 3D OFF Completely.

And 3D is good for working out your eye muscles & brain to keep them in shape as shown in this link:

http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml

And the Nintendo 3DS has downloadable 3D music videos from today's American music artist which I have already downloaded the 3 free 3D Music Videos to watch anywhere and the 3DS has 3D "Blue Man Group" video and College Humor (in 3D) with the FREE "Nintendo Video" App that you can download (but its 4 3D Videos at a time and they replace them once in a while) and you can download cheap downloadable 3D Apps & 3D games costing from 99 cents to $5.99 and the Nintendo 3DS also has FREE downloadable 3D Apps & 3D Games, which I have already downloaded 3 Free 3D Apps and I have downloaded 2 Free 3D Games and the 3DS has a 3D Camera and I have already used the 3DS 3D Camera to take 3D photos and I have uploaded some of my 3D footage online using the Nintendo 3DS's Web Browser to upload my 3D footage online and I have used my 3DS Web Browser to also download other peoples 3D footage from the Internet on my 3DS Web Browser and I have view all sorts of 3D content on 3D Websites online on my 3DS's Web Browser and I have use my 3DS 3D Camera to play 3D Augmented Reality games as well and it's all in 3D without the Glasses using the 3DS 3D Camera and I have beautiful 3D HD graphics that equal to that of a 3D HD version of Wii Graphics and I have Streamed 3D Videos Online on my 3DS in the eShop and I have also Watch 3D Trailers for upcoming 3D movies coming to Theaters in 3D and I have done all of this in 3D Without the Glasses.

So you can pay $169 for a Nintendo 3DS and buy the greatest Games ever & all in 3D Without the Glasses like Cave Story 3D and Kid Icarus and Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 using the MOTION SENSORS to play the game like if you were turning a real wheel to turn the Kart left & right and also play such other 8 GB 3D Games like TheatRhytem Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D and Crush 3D and Petz Fantasy 3D and Animal Crossing and Gabrielle's Ghostly Grove 3D and Nintendogs + cats and the Sims 3 Pets and King of Pirates and Golden Sun 4 and Zoo Resort 3D and Zelda 3D and Sonic Generations 3D and Tetris 3D and 100% of the 3DS games are in HD 3D Without the Glasses.

Also, the screen is perfectly fine, in terms of resolution. Anyway, itâs the pixel density that matters, not the actual number of pixels. The 3DS pixel density is MUCH sharper than an average HD TV of, for example, 32 inches. Itâs perfectly fine. Not everything has to be 1080p you know. Since 1080p at 32 inches is worse than just 240p on the 3DS.

And they're making Angry Birds 3D as a downloadable game.

And the 3DS has DLC (Downloadable Content) like Xbox Live for a bunch of 3DS games to add content to the game cartridge later on.

And 1 of the Free 3D Apps I have downloaded was Netflix.

And Netflix is getting 3D Movies in the next few months, so for $169 you can watch 3D movies on the free Netflix App on the 3DS in 3D Without the Glasses.

And it's getting both Hulu and Hulu Plus (which already has 3D content) before the end of this year (2011)

And 100% of the people who have said that they get headaches from 3D, have said that after up to 1 to 2 weeks of using the 3DS they NO LONGER get headaches anymore and that they now play with the 3D all the way up 100% all the time, non-stop.

But I have never had any problem with the 3D at all, but each person has a different experience with the 3D ON during the first week.

And you can now pay to download Permanent 3D & 2D Videos on the 3DS as shown in this Link:

http://nintendo3dsblog.com/you-can-now-pay-to-have-permanent-access-to-videos-via-the-nintendo-video-application

and you can check this Link below for more 3DS Games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games

P.S. You will want to check these sites out for the Web Browser's 3D ability:

http://www.3ds-screenshot.com/

http://gamecrunch.co/3dscreens/

http://3dporch.com/

http://www.klutz.com/static/nintendo/n3ds_mm9.html

http://www.instructables.com/3ds/

And the 3DS is getting a Wi-Fi Update this NOVEMBER to RECORD 3D Videos and upload it to YouTube and all of this in the 3DS this November by hooking your 3DS up to a Wireless Internet Connection like Wi-Fi or your own Home Internet or the Library and so fort during November as shown in this Link.

http://nintendo3dsblog.com/3d-video-recording-allows-you-to-record-for-10-minutes-has-support-for-youtube

Is there any way to reduce xbox live lag when others are on the internet?

best gaming laptop japan on Japan's Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association claims that ...
best gaming laptop japan image

Joseph

When anyone gets on any of the computers to do anything such as watch videos it causes the games I play to lag. I was wondering if there was anyway to get around this. I figured there should be, because my ps3 has a wireless connection and never lags (even when all the computers are being used to watch videos and such) but the 360 lags constantly and has a wired connection.

Answer
That's because your PS3 online games often play in only 720p whilst most 360 games play in 1080p... that's results in a huge difference in data transfer. Even though the PS3 is the more powerful machine PSN don't have the income from subscriptions to offer the same levels of service as Xbox Live.

But that does mean you need a better connection to run multiplayer games on the 360 if you want to continue using other pieces of equipment online simultaneously. If you are not willing to invest in faster connection, you'll just have to turn off a computer or two when you play.

I live in Japan and I have a relatively slow service by Japanese standards (Hey! It's free!!) but I rarely have any problems with lag despite having lots of torrents running on my laptops (downloading and uploading at crazy speeds) and 2 360s on Live at the same time playing across servers (with UK and US hosts).

getting a new laptop what kind and where?

Ashley

I want to get a new laptop. I don't make that much so it cant be a really expensive one. I would like one that's extremely durable, has at least 2 USB ports and 2 SD slots, Microsoft word already downloaded, a good anti-virus software, a camera, and spell check on everything. If there is a laptop out there that meets or comes close to the things I want for a cheap price (under $900) please tell me.

Answer
Assuming you are for real (So many general questions are spam IDs to match up with a different mating spam ID), to do well you need to learn the basics to know what you are getting. Will try to be simple.
Here is laptop quality:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/244419/laptop_reliability_and_satisfaction_macbooks_rule.html
MacBooks are outrageous in price for the CPU+graphics you get. Average is alphabetical in the table. You also note Compaq is now HP, and Gateway is an Acer. Asus and MSI are designer-manufacturers, and Lenovo Thinkpad has a Japan design team.
For cpu+graphics power look here on the two tabs:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
For gaming if interested, here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
Check size, weight, ethernet (hardwire port download+streaming) as gigabit 10/100/1000 or fast 10/100. Fast is slow and gigabit is fast. USB 3.0 is nice for the future use. web cam megapixels. bluetooth for cell phone links. hard drive speed and size. Amount of ram for stability in running more things at once and a separate graphics with its own ram is a premium.
That is your education.
Microsoft includes a Word starter now excel starter in almost every Windows system, and you can get Openoffice for free as a Microsoft office compatible freeware or buy Microsoft Office for a full version. Antivirus will have a starter subscription and you decide later about freeware or paid versions. Spell check is normal in most text software. Apple Macs run OSX and have less compatible software and missing key things like USB 3.0, Bluray, HDMI, and need special versions of software.

Where to shop:
Newegg.com, Lenovo.com (on sale models only), tigerdirect.com
Bestbuy occassionally has a special, as does Bhphoto.com, and ncix
Amazon sometimes is OK, but is a slow process to shop because the specifications are hidden until you read the whole data set. They are a pain in the rump.

Will suggest one to start, and then you compare around to do better.

http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:category.details?action=init&current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&current-category-id=C46D71ACFD7C4475B8E490358F8CA8C3
10% off first order with email signup.
Lenovo Ideapad Y570 and Y580
Y570 08626FU gets you 15.6" screen standard 720p, 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 1GB GDDR5 (but reduced GT 555M version a little), 8GB of 1333MHz RAM, 2.0mp cam, USB 3.0, Bluetooth, 500GB 7200 rpm storage, DVDRW and after the 10% off, $630 plus tax and windows 8 upgrade for $15 when released. Has veriface and 1 key rescue, multitouch pad, numeric keypad. There are a few GT 640M laptops now coming in reach around the same price point at a similar performance, but usually step down to the i5 to do it.

Y580 - 209945U is $900 plus tax after 10% off and there is a Y580 within your budget, but I'll show the good one.
Takes the Y570 and raises the CPU to 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3610QM, raises the graphics to NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB, raises the DRAM to 1600 MHz speed, raises the display to 1080p
15.6" FHD LED Glare Wedge 1920x1080, makes it a bluray combo drive from the DVDRW, raises the wireless to Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200BGN, does cut the camera to 1mp, adds a bit to the weight 2.8 kgs (6.15 lb), now at 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0, changes the top shell to aluminum and the battery to polymer type. It is an impressive system for the price, but is a little over budget when adding tax. Not sure you can get all the bells and whistles anywhere else at this price.

With these two, and the tools I provided to compare systems, shop to your heart's content to do better. [add: compared to the HP at the same $900+tax, they downgrade graphics a lot, hard drive is the 640 at standard speed instead of 500 7200 so you need $10 to raise it to 750 7200, battery is the standard lithium ion (phony hours shown from HP), display is the standard 720p, webcam is a 0.3mp, no bluetooth, inferior wireless, inferior shell, not sure of the RAM frequency. The only thing they do is add 2 speakers and boost the bass. This system is a Y570 equivalent with faster CPU but lower graphics so should be $630; not $900.]

Is a 17 inch laptop too big or should I change it to a 15 inch?

best gaming laptops 17 inch image

xaznjazonx

I'm looking to buy a 17 inch laptop, I use laptops mostly on beds and sometimes take it to places, I watch movies and videos and play games on it. I don't mind the weight, so would it be too big? I can get a 15 inch and 2gb less ram for 100 dollars less, which one should I go for?

Answer
It's a matter of personal preference.

I would never get a 17-inch laptop; something that big defeats the whole purpose of a laptop, which is using it on the top of your lap. I'd go with the 15 inch machine and throw in the 2 GB of missing RAM (unless it already has 4 gigs, in which case it's fine).

What laptop would be best to play starcraft2, diablo 3, and still be good for AP classes?

brian a

I am trying to buy myself a laptop. I want to be able to type and do AP homework, yet at the same time play Blizzard Entertainment games. Which laptop on the market now or in the near future do you think would be the best for these kinds of requests. Also with a 15-17 inch screen. Thank you!!!

Answer
Alienware m15x or Dell XPS.
Alienware has very good internal parts in it, so it will last a long time. I have an alienware m15x. Its is 2 years old, and it's performing GREAT! It can easily handle the games I play. Its also very good with school work. The best thing about alienware is that it doesn't have integrated graphics! :D

Dell XPS is also good. However the low end of Dell XPS has integrated graphics. :( So if you want to buy a Dell XPS, you have to buy one without integrated graphics.

I think you should get an alienware area m15x though. It's built to last. I spend more on hardware and less on software. :D If you need software, youtube is a great site to look for them. lol

I'm 16 and I just got a job. I would like to save up to buy a super-powerful gaming laptop. I only care about power, not screen size or hard drive space.

Answer
Since it is going to be a while before you buy, take a look at this ASUS. It will give you an idea of what you should look for. Nividia just released their new graphics chip series 7xx. AMD is gearing up to release their 78xx series. A i7 or i5 Intel CPU should do just fine. You will want a 256 GB SSD for your C drive and a 500GB to a 1TB D drive. In the higher end system a 1080 screen is common. Your choice on it being a 15 or 17 inch.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230590
Core i7 3630QM(2.40GHz) 17.3" 16GB Memory 256GB SSD 750GB HDD 7200rpm GeForce GTX 670MX LED 3D 120Hz 1920 x 1080 1 Year Accidental Damage/30-Day Zero Bright Dot

Brand buying advice

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate. My experience with them are limited because the few I worked on made me think they were designed in such a way as it would take a blow torch and a jack hammer just to disassemble them.

Choose wisely.

What do you think of the Alienware Dell Gaming Laptop?

dan G

I want to get one really bad, but I wonder about the keyboard and mouse setup... I'd probably have to use external keys and mouse. It seems like all laptops, when used for gaming, kind of cramp up your hands and it's hard to both move with the pad and the keys at the same time.

Or is this laptop somehow different, and easier to use for games that require both mouth and keys to play?

Also, how is the performance? Is it worth the money? Can you really have a good gaming laptop?

Answer
One advantage about the Alienware laptop keyboard is that they usually (thought not always) come with the numeric keypad. Also, the keyboards on the newer ones light up. Still, if you're going to be using it for gaming, I would recommend getting an ergonomic keyboard, as it seriously lowers your chances of getting carpal tunnel syndrome, along with an ergonomic mouse. I know that you can't always take them on the go with you, but just using it at home will help. But these laptops were designed to be desktop replacements (which is why they can be a little heavy) so yes they are worth the money for such a powerful and portable machine. The specs are customizable, but many of them are high enough to make a good gaming computer for years to come. They are perfect for gaming.

i need to buy a laptop in the range of 800 dollars.
So which is the best laptop brand out there for giving performance and great looking laptops ?

Friendz, Share your views...

Answer
In Australia LG, HP and Dell are the most popular.

You need to specify why you need the laptop, eg games or study.
How much RAM and Hard disk space do you need and many other factors. Graphic cards, windows xp, vista or 7. Battery life...how long would you like the battery to last for?

If you just going for the Look then Acer and LG are the best looking but you can buy stickers and skins and make any laptop look good.

Maybe you are more of a Mac person for that you need completely different specks. Give more information so that we can help you better.

try the following links, they might help you out. especially the CNET links at the bottom.

How much does Ultra w/ GTX 670 and i5 Ivy Bridge 3570k cost?

Desoato Ki

And I'm not good with specs, but can a 2009-2010 laptop run compatibly with these specs?

Answer
No laptop comes anywhere close to those specs.

That's one of the most powerful graphics cards out there (not the absolute best, but in the top 5) along with the best bang/buck gaming processor currently in existence.

The GTX 670 is slightly slower than the GTX 680 and previous generation dual-GPU cards, the GTX 590 and Radoen HD 6990. Since those last two cards are out of production, the GTX 670 is the 2nd-best card that's actually available on the market now.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-3770k-i5-3570k_6.html#sect0

Those two components total about $640 (The i5 3570K costs $240 and the GTX 670 costs $400)

I need to be able to edit game play while also recording on high settings without lag . $700 budget not including tax

Answer
If you need a good gaming laptop then you need to have good processor and good memory primarily because in the end they decide the performance of a laptop. You can look into many of the good laptops in the market which has good processor and memory. Here is a list from which you can decide which are really popular and also are under $700 as well:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_2?rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A%21493964%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A565108%2Cp_36%3A-70000&page=2&bbn=565108&ie=UTF8&qid=1367337933&tag=faowiw-20

Among them by considering overall better functionality I would recommend a laptop of Dell which is really good in totality. The model is Dell Inspiron i15R-2369sLV which has price of $649 which is under budget. Its features include:

Intel Core i7-3632QM 2.2 GHz Processor which is one of the highest available in the market.
8 GB DDR3 which is really good short term memory which can handle your multitasking convincingly.
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive for storage
15-Inch Screen
Windows 8 of operating system.

If you think it is a good option than for your ease in deciding here is a review from an actual user:

Good gaming laptop for relatively low-price?

Kai

I want a decent gaming laptop for under 800 bucks. I want an i7 processor, 8GB of ram, at least 750 GB of hard drive, and good enough graphics. I found the lenovo Y400 and the Sony VAIO but those are a little bit too expensive.
Be able to play Minecraft, Skyrim, and TESO

Answer
Market has many option which includes many of the brands. Among them I would recommend an option from Asus which has almost same features which you are requiring and also it can play games very well.

It features include Intel Core i7-3610M 2.7 GHz Processor, 8 GB DDR3 and 750 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive which are exactly what you are requiring. Also it has 15.6-Inch LED Screen, Nvidia GT 610M 2G Graphics and Windows 8. And all of these features you are getting in 700 which is under your budget.

Also it performs really weather it is gaming or any other tasks. You can asses this fact by seeing the comment from an actual user which explains thoroughly about this laptop and will help you in making the decision:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1PUF7C4TN52IP/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B009M2XB6M&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=hawmekm-20

This is one good option according to me which perfectly suits the requirements. But you can look other options as well if you want to. Because as I have mentioned earlier there are many options available in the market. See here is a list of laptops which are under $800 and are popular ones which are usually good options:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_36_0?bbn=565108&qid=1374498827&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A%21493964%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A565108%2Cp_36%3A-70000&rnid=2421885011&low-price=500&high-price=800&x=-180&y=-3317&tag=hawmekm-20

I want an alienware, but I've recently heard that the latest alienwares are getting bad reviews. So what is the best gaming laptop on the market?

Answer
There is also Sager (Clevo) and OCZ, both manufacturers offer laptops among the fastest in the world (Google: Sager NP9262, Sager NP5796 (17", Single Video Card, Single Hard Drive, Dual Core), Sager M860TU (15", Single Video Card, Single Hard Drive, Dual (and maybe Mobile Quad soon) Core), Arima W840 DI / OCZ Whitebook (17", dual video cards, dual hard drives, dual and mobile quad core, Backlit Keyboard, upgrade to an old chassis that Alienware used once, can take ATi Crossfire).

Also, both of those manufacturers are cheaper by thousands of dollars against Alienware, Dell, Voodoo PC, etc... with a better build-quality and experience (Sager has been in the market since the middle 80's).

The fastest gaming laptop in the world is the Sager NP9262, the only Quad Core Laptop in the world (for now, but the only that can take Desktop Quad Cores, for a long time), it can take Dual 9800m GTX's on SLi Configuration (1 GB GDDR3, 112 Shader Processors), which is around 15 - 20% more powerful (single card) than the 8800m GTX (9800m GT) and faster than the 8800m GTX SLi too, it can take up to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 at 3.0 GHz processor (it can take desktop processors with a TDP under 96W, such as the E6600 / E6670 / E8200 / E8400 Dual Core, and the Q6600 / Q6700 / Q9550 / Q9650 Quad Cores), up to triple 500 GB Hard Drives (5,400 RPM) or 320 GB Hard Drives (7,200 RPM) in RAID configuration (RAID 0, 1 and 5), it can go up to 4 GB at 800 MHz (PC2-6400) at RAM, or 8 GB (around 6 GB are available) at 667 MHz, not even the Alienware m17x is close to touching this beast.

The best Sager Resellers around are Xotic PC and PowerNotebooks, so you might want to drop by their websites to check the many options they have on Gaming Notebooks (Xotic PC carries the Arima W840 DI too, even though it is not a Sager Notebook), also, their customer service is awesome, and Xotic PC offers an extra 2 years on parts warranty with the Sager NP9262 and the NP5796.

You might also want to register at www.notebookreview.com and create a new thread (following the sticky thread guide) in the "What laptop should I buy?" topic, lots of people would be happy to help you choose what is the perfect laptop for you, within your budget also.

What is the best gaming laptop money can buy as of today?

Alex

I am looking for a good gaming laptop under 500$. One that could play Garrys Mod, Minecraft and Black Ops with medium to high settings. I will not go over 599$. I am looking for something cheaper.
No Acer aspire 7741z, I have had bad results with it.
Minimum RAM price is 6 GB. I had a computer with 4G ram and it didn't run games fast.
No answers saying "you won't find one that good for so cheap".

Answer
6GB of RAM gives you plenty of breathing room for games, but that doesn't mean anything if it doesn't have a good graphics card. I've never seen a good integrated GPU on CPU's so youll need a dedicated card. just means to make sure it has a GPU. Finally, when shopping punch in the cards model with notebookcheck on google and that has been a wonderful source to find out what your getting with the laptop.

If you happen to have a laptop, charge it, and bring it. You can play some standard card games or if you happen to have anything like a flight simulator, bring that. It is amusing to do stunts in an artificial airplane while being in a real one.

I am looking for a reasonably priced one it possible; I do know gaming laptops are more pricy that most. I'd prefer to not spend more than $1500 on one, but if need be I am willing. If you know f a good one cheaper than that that's better!

There are other models that come instead with a 1366x768 display, but those models are not recommended unless you need the larger text. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.

Note: Another answer here recommended the "ASUS N56VZ-ES71". This model is not a good option, because it comes with a 15.6" 1366x768 display. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast. It also has the slower GDDR3 version of the GT 650M instead of the GDDR5 version, but it's still a decent GPU.

The N56VZ is a good option if you buy the N56VZ-RB71 which comes with a 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display, but the N56VZ-ES71 is a bad option.

What are the restrictions of accessing content could the iPad cause compared to just using my PC?

Is the iPad no worse or better than other tablet PC brands?

I would rather not have the uugggggh Apple! moan but rather a clear answer.

Answer
I've had my iPad 2 since December of 2011. I absolutely ADORE it. It's seriously like having a lightweight thin laptop without the mouse and keyboard. In fact, I'm answering this question using my iPad right now!

The other answerer is right, you DO have to do everything through Apple, BUT, however, if there's a screw up, they're always there to help and almost always compensate you for any problems you run into.

Since I've had my iPad, I haven't had a single problem. Not with the device, and not with Apple.

Pros:
Everything. (I'm a 21 year old female, I don't ask for much.) It's lightweight, portable, (I have it in my purse with me wherever I go). There are extremely useful apps in there. Also there is iBooks. You can go to JW.org and when you save their PDF Watchtower and Awake! magazines, it'll download directly to your iBooks app. (which is free by the way). Almost every single app I have was free. And there are a ton of useful apps too, not just games. The only apps I paid for (most of which where .99 - 1.99 tops) are homeopathy friendly apps that I use for work or answering questions. Medical stuff basically.

The apps I have are twitter, NWT bible, a whole BUNCH of recipe books, there is even a ''My Time'' app that helps keep track of your pioneering! How cool is that?! I also have yelp, pinterest, Youtube, skype, instagram, amazon shopping, the weather channel, a whole bunch of nutrition and fitness apps, (I'm a buff gym junkie. or trying to be haha). I love everything about this!

Typing and navigating is also extremely easy. I have friends who have blackberry playbooks, and some android run tablets and nooks, etc, and I just find the iPad a lot easier to navigate and use. But that's just me.

Cons:
The battery life is pretty good, but it could be better. It could also be because I have my iPad on the highest setting too, and the fact that I always use it. So, don't take my word for it!

The size. It's pretty big, which isn't a bad thing at all actually. But some people would be more comfortable with the iPad mini, which is exactly the same, but just a tad smaller. (And the screen and retina is actually sharper and brighter on the mini than it is on the iPad 2).

If you have any more questions, general or specific, please ask!

I'm an Apple iFreak.

Why is my laptop slowing down?

Liang-Shih

My laptop specifications are as follows:

Acer Aspire 4830TG
Intel Core i5-2430M 2.4GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
NVIDIA GeForce CT 540M, Up to 3765 MB TurboCache
14.0" HD LED LCD
8GB DDR3 Memory
750 GB HDD
DVD Super Multi DL Drive
Intel Wireless Display (WiDi)
6-cell Li-ion battery

Currently I have 79.8GB free space out of 341 in my C drive and 260GB free out of 342GB from D drive. The only softwares running in the background are my essentials to operate what is needed on my laptop.

The reason why I asked "Why is my laptop slowing down?" is because I can't seem to find the reason, and I can't play League of Legends on full graphics or play any offline game properly in lowest graphics without having hiccups in my movements.

Note: I bought this laptop in December of 2011
Already defragment my hard drive and also cleaned my registry with CCleaner, but nothing seems to be working.

Answer
the answer i have copied from http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000179.htm

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.

Not enough hard drive space.
Left over programs and bad files.
Data Corruption.
Missing Windows updates or outdated drivers.
Computer is overheating.
Corrupt OS.
Bad Hardware.
Solution

Tip: This page only cover an overall slow computer and not a computer that has a slow boot up.

Below are steps for Microsoft Windows users that should help speed up the computer or determine why the computer is running slow.

Reboot

If your computer has not been reboot recently make sure to reboot it before following any of the below steps.

Not enough hard drive space

Verify that there is at least 200-500MB of free hard drive space. This available space allows the computer to have room for the swap file to increase in size as well as room for temporary files.

Determining available hard drive space.
Regaining computer hard drive space.
Hard drive corrupted or fragmented

Run ScanDisk or something equivalent to verify there is nothing physically wrong with the computer hard drive.
Run Defrag to help ensure that data is arranged in the best possible order.
Background programs

Remove or disable any TSRs and startup programs that automatically start each time the computer boots.

Tip: To see what programs are running in the background and how much memory and CPU they are using open Task Manager. If you are running Windows 7 run Resmon to get a better understanding of how your computer is being used.

If you've got an antivirus scanner on the computer, spyware protection program, or other security utility make sure it's not scanning your computer in the background. Often when these programs begin to scan the computer it can decrease the overall performance of your computer.

Scan for malware

Today, spyware and other malware is a big cause of many computer problems including a slow computer. Even if an antivirus scanner is installed on the computer we recommend running a malware scan on the computer. Use the free version of Malwarebytes to scan your computer for malware.

Hardware conflicts

Verify that the Device Manager has no conflicts. If any exist resolve these issues as they could be the cause of your problem.
Update Windows

Make sure you have all the latest Windows updates installed in the computer.
If you are on the Internet when your computer is slow also make sure all browser plugins are up-to-date.
Update your drivers

Make sure you've got the latest drivers for your computer, especially the latest video drivers. Having out-of-date drivers can cause an assortment of issues.

Computer or processor is overheating

Make sure your computer and processor is not overheating. Excessive heat can cause a significant decrease in computer performance since most processors automatically step the speed of the processor down to help compensate compensate for the heat related issues.

What temperature should my processor be running at?
Dust, dirt, and hair can also constrict a proper air flow on your computer, which can also cause a computer to overheat. Make sure your computer case is clean and fans are not obstructed.

Steps on cleaning your computer.
Memory upgrade

If you've had your computer for more than one year it's likely you're computer is not meeting the memory requirements for today. Today, we suggest at a minimum the computer have 1GB of memory.

Determining how much RAM is installed and available.
Specific operating system basic troubleshooting

Basic Microsoft Windows XP troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 2000 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows ME troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 98 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 95 troubleshooting.
Basic Microsoft Windows 3.x troubleshooting.

Or go through the other basic troubleshooting steps.

Run registry cleaner

We normally do not recommend registry cleaners. However, if you have followed all of the above steps and your computer is still slow try running a registry cleaner on the computer.

Erase computer and start over

If none of the above solutions resolve your issues, it is recommended that you either reinstall Windows or erase everything and then start over.

Finally, if your computer continues to be slow after going over each of the above recommendations it's possible that your computer is experiencing a more serious hardware related issue such as a failing component in the computer. This could be a failing or bad hard drive, CPU, RAM, motherboard, or other component.
