1200$ Gaming Laptop!?

secondlife

I'm buying the laptop to play a game called Second Life. here are the recommended requirement.

Cable or DSL
A reasonably modern 32-bit Linux environment is required. If you are running a 64-bit Linux distribution then you will need its 32-bit compatibility environment installed.
1.5 GHz or better (But i want 2.0+)
1 GB or more (hopefully 2+)
NVIDIA Graphics cards
6000 Series:
6600, 6700, 6800
7000 Series:
7600, 7800, 7900
8000 Series:
8500, 8600, 8800
GeForce Go Series:
7600, 7800, 7900

Any help will be very appreciated! Thank you.

Answer
erm... just about ANY laptop that's new will play second life nowadays... second life has a relatively low requirement as for gaming laptops.. try to find something with a dedicated card such as and Asus f3 series, but other than that.. just about any laptop will run second life. I also wonder if you are going to play under a linux environment. then i would go with a dell that's preinstalled with linux just to make your life with system drivers a bit simpler

Needed laptop for computer science?

Paul

I am enrolling in a computer science degree and I need a laptop. For task such as: programming (debugging, compiling, linking), writing, music/movies/browsing and for other related stuff, but not gaming. I don't want to spend a lot of money so I am not keen on buying a laptop with a i7. But I was looking at either an i3 or i5, 4GB - 8GB of RAM, 320GB+ of storage space (enough to dual boot Windows 7 with Linux).

Something that is decent as I do have a powerful desktop computer at home.

Any recommendations?

- No Apple products - overpriced, lack performance, lack of value

These HP can be customized to what you need, Bump the APU and ram for better performance. They would be consider good all around laptops.

Brand buying advise

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.

Apple makes a good quality laptop. The problem comes when it requires service or minor upgrades. It is near impossible to do anything with them. They even glue the battery and hard drive down so you can not change it. They solder the ram to the logic board so you can not increase it. They lock up most of the software so your stuck with what they approve.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.

Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony should be avoided because of their heavy modification of Windows and the drivers. If you remove some of the bloat they install, you can cripple the system.

Acer, Gateway, and eMachines should be avoided period. Low end system that are driving the race to the bottom.

Dell once made a good system and fell from grace. They are now struggling to regain their place in the market. Customer service is one of many problems with this company.

Alienware are glorified Dells and are more name then product. Priced extremely high for what you get. They do perform but you can get the same for less by looking around, just not packaged to be eye candy to the gamers.

Samsung has a history of using cheap parts in critical areas. Capacitors has been one area Samsung has a known history of going cheap, causing units to fail early. For that reason I would avoid them.

ASUS and HP do not modify Windows as bad as the other manufacturers. They have excellent build quality. They might add a lot of bloat but they also makes it easy to get rid of it.

Ultrabooks are the higher end of Wintel laptops but they have some of the same concerns as Apple. They make it next to impossible to change any hardware in them. Service of them will have to be done by the manufacturers. With most of them, you can not change your own battery or hard drive. They are designed to catch your eye but they are not any more special then other laptops except for the fact that they are slim or thin. Your paying for it being thin and slim. For the money your going to spend on it you can buy a much better laptop with more power.

Hybrids are the worse of the worse. The flip or detachable touch screens are just a disaster waiting to happen.

Never buy an All In One. They are far worst then laptops of any kind to service and they have a higher failure rate.

Choose wisely.

What is the best gaming laptop for under $700 in 2011?

Alex Leitn

Hey, I'm going to be in Japan for 6 months and I need to purchase a laptop for the trip.
The problem is since I will be in Japan for so long I need a laptop that will be able to play all the new games that come out on steam on at least average settings.

Does anyone know of a cheap laptop that can run games such as:
Borderlands, L4D2, Minecraft, and Just Cause 2
on decent settings for under $700?

Another problem is that I CANNOT buy anything ACER, used, refurbished, re-manufactured, or opened.

Should I buy this Acer or Sony laptop?

Ruair K

Hi, I'm looking at buying a laptop and was wondering whether I should go for a cheaper Acer with seemingly more impressive specs or a more expensive Vaio.

The models in question are the Sony VAIO SVE1511K1EW (white) and the Acer Aspire V3-571.

Both have i3 processors and 750GB of hard drive space, but the Acer has 8GB of RAM while the Sony only has 4GB. The Acer is also better priced, at â¬479 compared â¬529 for the Sony.

Here are some links
http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/12681326/art/acer/aspire-v3-571.html
http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/12653549/art/sony/vaio-sve1511k1ew-white.html

On the other hand the Sony ''looks'' sleeker, (in my opinion). But what do you think?

Also is it worth paying more for a supposedly better brand such as Sony compared to Acer? Are they generally more reliable/better? etc. Many thanks!
Mainly I'll be using it for typical activities such as web browsing, word processing along with listening to music, watching movies. That kind of thing. But I don't want it to be slowed down by numerous tabs open etc. and I want it to run smoothly and consistently fast

Answer
Will browse through Pixmania and PCworld UK in a moment. For now, note that ALL laptops are Chinese designed and produced other than Lenovo Thinkpad with a Japan design team. It is a procurement, sales, and support process.
Sony specifies better screens and keyboards, and generally cuts the CPU and graphics power to make up for it. Acer goes as cheap as possible on parts allowed, but assures those cheap parts don't fail. So, Acer actually has a better reliability, and Sony the better up-front product received unless using the laptop for something more than casual (such as gaming or design) in which you need more CPU and Graphics.
Average in the table is alphabetical. Read the article:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/244419/laptop_reliability_and_satisfaction_macbooks_rule.html
and Macs plain cost far too much for what they offer.
Now, will look at your two, and edit, and then look at what else is around that is probably a better deal.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php
GPU and CPU on other tab.
Acer: i3-2310M lower end value CPU, RAM8 GB, a good amount, Intel HD 4000, OK for basic use, 750 GB average plus in size and probably 5400 rpm, has USB 3.0, Webcam1.3 megapixels, Windows 8 ready touchpad, Std battery ignore "life" numbers completely as bogus with wireless off, dimmed screen, minimal apps running, Height: 2.52 - 3.32 cm, Width: 38.16 cm, Depth: 25.3 cm
Weight 2.6 kg and the standard combo of both useful and bloatware of software.
Sony: weird on the CPU why it shows HD 3000 vs HD 4000, so it is old inventory of a slightly faster CPU, minimized RAM, kind of similar otherwise.
Neither excites me as a great value. They are just plain basic but more than the cheapest possible, and I think I like the Acer better, because the Ram and HD 4000 is more than the slight CPU upgrade. They could even be made by the same supplier in China.
Will look around for you for ⬠500 laptops at two sources.
Wasn't thrilled with any Pixmania offer. Looking at PCWORLD instead.
What do you think of the color red?:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/asus-a53e-sx1339s-15-6-laptop-red-11884685-pdt.html
i7-2670 = the power of both the Acer+Sony if working together.
RAM6GB adequate, is the same HD 3000 graphics of the Sony, a standard HDD at 500GB, No USB 3.0, and not as clear at web cam, but this is the speed demon of CPU in the same price and the good Asus brand.
This 350 pound is about the same as the 480 pound, in case that interests you:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-v3-571-15-6-laptop-15254169-pdt.html
A bit smaller in RAM and HDD
And here is another winner - this is the type you should see:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-3-300e5c-15-6-laptop-black-15119696-pdt.html
Get this laptop for £399 after cashback. i5-3210M, a deserving CPU to the deserving buyer much better than i3, Samsung is lighter weight. It's a nice laptop.
If you love the Sony, buy it for less:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/sony-vaio-e-series-sve1511k1ew-15-5-laptop-white-14732477-pdt.html
How about with a discrete graphics chip:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-ideapad-z750-15-6-laptop-silver-12377721-pdt.html
And a core i5 2nd gen. Looks OK by me also. You never know when you want to try gaming.
GT 630M far outdoes HD 4000, and i5-2450M outdoes the i3's,
So, each of these sparks me in different ways, instead of the bland products you found.

So I was going to buy the razor blade laptop cause it looked cool but i know it's not that good. What are some good laptops that look pretty good. The only one I know so far is Alienware

Answer
I'm not the best with laptops but it's all about the stuff that is inside. If it is for gaming which it looks like it is (as you are thinking of Alienware or Razer) try and look for a decent processor labelled with the laptop. If there is an i7, i5, or i3 then that will do. (AMD high Athlon or Phenom maybe an APU or an FX series.) Try and get a decent amount of RAM. I recommend 8gb as it is cheap and more than enough. Make sure the integrated graphics are good too. If you are unsure look at cpubenchmark.com and search the given CPU and GPU. Wish all you the best. Kieran.

P.S. Also get at least 500gb hard drive so you don't run out of space too quickly! :P

To be honest it is much much cheaper to go with a desktop. If you are adamant about getting a laptoop then fair enough but if you don't mind I can assure you that a desktop will do you better...e-mail me if you need any help! (kieransprouse@ymail.com)

Best gaming laptops/desktops priced around $1000?

Q. hi, i have gone trough 1 hp desktop and 3 hp laptops, the laptops were kinda crappy old work laptops but the desktop wasn't. all of these crashed and were toasted and i think it is because of games. i really like games and i am not giving that up so i really need to know what to look for in a computer that is good for gaming and if you have any suggestions on gaming computers around $1000 please post them.

Answer
Im not going to waste your time and my own by bashing hp, acer, and dell. We all know they are terrible quality, and put quantity over quality. I bought a Gateway Fx two years ago. The laptop still plays COD MW2 at max settings. The current models are around $1100. But you get what you pay for. It has an amazing video card for a laptop, fast processor, high ram, and best of all its tweaked to play games. It was not made to be a throw around college computer. It is by far my best buy. Acer bought Gateway buy thankfully they have stayed hands off. Remember with dell, hp, and acer: Cheap computers means cheap parts, Cheap parts mean crap computer with a short life. I would stick with Gateway,Asus, or Toshiba. Alienwares have become dolled up dells. You would be amazed of how many corners they cut now. A simple thing as a wire going bad will cost your 8 x its actual cost. So much for not basing other brands. Again I have had nothing but perfection from my Gateway Fx.

Btw things to look for: at least 4 gigs of ram. Preferably NVIDIA and INTEL (not amd and not Ati) Hd with speed of 7500rpm and of course a motherboard mad to handle the stress. Following these things you cant go wrong. (unless you buy a hp or dell (in which case you will find how much a manufacturer can destroy great hardware with poor design and manufacturing.)

Whats the best gaming laptop for around £900-£1000?

Requirements:
-Laptop
-Good for gaming, and best for its price
-Being able to run games like: Dayz, Minecraft, Skyrim on Medium-High settings. With good FPS

Description: Now, I need a laptop. I know desktops are better most of the time for gaming but right now I can't get one. So I'm looking for a laptop with good performance for games like Dayz.
Screen size does not really matter to me, but 15inch + would be great. But I really don't mind if its lower than that but has good specs.

-Thanks to anyone who helps

Answer
It isn't a gaming laptop. It is a robust sturdy laptop with a good profile/weight and a good battery life and wireless that can do some gaming.
The CPU performs in line with 2nd generation Intel i5's of laptops. The GPU Graphics is HD 7660G.
It is at #181 here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
It is very good for business and school work especially when on a laptop for long hours, and is less susceptible to damage and liquid spills, but the graphics power in not in line.
For that you would be looking at consumer level Y500 as an example.

Good or bad laptop for gaming??? Games like battlefield , call of duty, league of legens and pes 2013?

Can this laptop run those games???? battlefield , call of duty, league of legens and pes 2013??

Answer
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
You can see the performance of the GT 630M graphics card in the table.
There is the GT 555M of leftover Y570 shown also, but the GT 555m in the Y570 is a little lower end than the table shows.
League of Legends is fine on HD 4000 even without a graphics card.
Many of the COD are OK.
pes 2013 is ok

Gaming PC, Laptop or iPad?

ThatGuy

At the moment I have an Xbox 360 for gaming and a laptop (1.9GHz, 1GB RAM) for Internet, films and occasional light gaming (Football Manager).

I was going to sell my Xbox (£200) and build a gaming PC (£600) so it'd cost me £400. Recently I've been wondering if itd be worth it. I'd get the parts to build it at Christmas but now I'm thinking about keeping my Xbox and when the new one comes out getting a PC.

Should I get a gaming PC, a better laptop or an iPad 3?

Answer
Get a gaming PC or a gaming laptop do not buy iPad 3 the only use for iPads is that you can show to everyone that you can afford iPads. No hurt feelings for iPad Users

Whats Better: Gaming Laptop or Gaming PC.?

Laptops overheat i guess too. I kind of need help building a custom pc.

Answer
gaming desktops are better, especially if you build them yourself.
Gaming laptops are cool, but desktops annihilate them for the price.
That one from tigerdirect is decent except of the video card. The laptop you selected actually has a better card by quite a bit.
I have a laptop with a core 2 duo 1.66ghz with an x1600 and its pretty powerful, but I would recommend a little faster.
It would be worth the extra $150 for the x1800. I am kind of split on whether or not the $300 for a better cpu is worth it. a Hard drive upgrade would be, speedwise.

Gaming laptop list for $800 or less?

Sathoria

Whats the best gaming laptop for $800 or less? (I want to play World Of Warcraft, League Of Legends, Path Of Exile, and Guild Wars all on one laptop, minimum lag)

Answer
Mostly pure gaming laptops have price of more than $1000 which includes Alienware, MSI and Republic gamers of Asus.

But one of the option which you must consider is Acer Aspire V3-571G-9683 which has the price of $750. And as per one of the user of this laptop it is perfect for gaming. Here is a comment:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R234WHMK3MWMLU/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00B7JE6FS&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=faowiw-20

If we see the specs of it then definitely it is a good buy because it has really good specs in terms technicality which will be reflected in the performance as well. Its features include:

It has really powerful and efficient processor which is Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor - 2.4 GHz (6 MB Cache). It also has good memory which is 6 GB DDR3 RAM. Other features are also nice which includes 500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive,15.6-Inch Screen with NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M, Windows 8 and 4.5-hour battery life. So it is a good one to go for if you want a gaming laptop in under $800.

For further options to look for here is a list of laptops which comes under your budget which will broaden your choices and they all are around budget:

Decent priced gaming laptops?

Carolyn

I want a decent priced gaming laptop starting from $800-$1400. I've been doing lots of research but many laptops are too expensive & don't look that great. Any suggestions? (Preferably from Sony.)

Answer
Asus has good gaming laptops and also they are going really well. As you have mentioned your budget of under $1400 so there is one good option which has the price of $1364. It is considered to be one of the best gaming laptop as one of the user described it as Awesome PC, Runs Games With Ease. Here is a comment which you can look and decide:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R3ETFK97E8HH41/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00COQIKB4&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=hawmekm-20

Its features include Intel i7 4700HQ and 12 GB DDR3 which can play any games because of its strong power. It has huge storage with 1024 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive. It has 17.3-Inch Screen with Nvidia GTX765M 2GB GDDR5. And it has Windows 8 with 3.5-Hour Battery Life.

So all of these factors show that it can be a good choice to go for among others. But if you want to see other options as well then here is a list of laptop which are under your laptops. They are popular ones and usually are good options:

I'm looking for a new gaming laptop (NOT a desktop) that preferably does not cost over $2000 (although a little above that isn't a dealbreaker). Right now I'm thinking about the Alienware M17x. Any other suggestions?
I'm also thinking about the ASUS G75VW. Better than the Alienware?

What is the best gaming laptop for 2013?

Q. I want to get a new laptop I want one that runs most of the new upcoming games smoothly with high graphics like gta IV or the upcoming V also dirt 3 assasins creed cod blackops 2 give me your top 5 suggestions and also can I increase the ram processor later or should I buy a pc with some good requirements you suggest

Answer
a laptop isn't really a good thing. my laptop has great specs that can run lots of new games, but it overheats and crashes a lot. i would suggest getting a cooling pad WITH your gaming laptop.

What gaming laptop should I get next 2013?

Q. Right now I have a lenovo y580. It has an i7, gtx 660m, 8gb of ram, 1tb hard drive. I have had this laptop for about a year and a half and at about every two years I buy a new computer. My computer right now is great but it is getting a little old. I use it for gaming and school purposes. What laptop should I get next? My "requirements" are that it has at least a gtx 760m and an i5. My price range is from 1000 to about 1750. Thanks so much.

Answer
Laptops are not for gaming. I'd keep the one I have for school and build my own PC.

Budget gaming laptop 2013?

Q. I did weeks of research so I know what's good and what isint but I would like a couple more eyes out there that can help me find the best one. $600 but I am flexible windows 8 and score around 100 on this benchmark http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
If you could present multiple options or find me a list of all laptops released or to be released 2013 that would be nice.
This is what I have found so far http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/load_configuration.do?destination=review&config_id=8017892#anchor-top

Answer
Asus can be a good option. It is good in its performance because of its good features and it has price of around $600. Mostly it has positive reviews. It is gives absolutely high value as per one of the customer. Here is a complete review from an actual user which you can see and decide:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R19TWHSH5A0EN/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B009F1JL5A&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=hawmekm-20

Its features include Intel Core i5 3317U 1.7 GHz Processor and 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz SD-RAM which is fast and efficient. It has storage of 500GB 5400RPM Hybrid Hard Drive with integrated 24GB Solid-State Drive. It has good portable 14" 16:9 HD (1366x768) LED backlight glare panel and Windows 8.

So this is one really good option for which you can go among many others available in the market. As you want a list as well so here is a list of laptops which are most popular currently:

What's the most powerful gaming laptop WITH the best 3D display 2013?

Answering

Hello hardcore gamers! With a budget of around 2K, I'd like to get a very poweful gaming laptop that has THE BEST HD screen for 3D gaming: high res, bright, emitters, 120hz LCD +, etc

For a while, I've had my eye on the Toshiba Qosmio X875 Q7390
http://computers.toptenreviews.com/gaming-laptops/toshiba/toshiba-qosmio-x-series-review.html

But I've wondered about the Alienware MX17:
http://computers.toptenreviews.com/gaming-laptops/alienware-corporation/alienware-m17x-review.html

^ the MX17 has as good screen, but I don't know if it is as bright and as crisp as the Qosmio. Granted the MX17 has a better keyboard, heating, batt life, graphics, and RAM option. I don't like that the max ram on the Qosmio is 16GB and cannot be upgraded past 16GB (I've seen a 32GB version on amazon but it is around $2050 which exceeds my budget).

The screen is VERY important for this purchase, however. And I'd rather it be a laptop for business reasons, and to take it to other people's houses to work with them on projects and such.

ALSO: I am very good at modding electronics (I'm an inventor), and I was wondering if it's possible to find a 17.3" LCD with 240hz and just swap out the laptop screens.

Answer
Be it either Eurocom, Sager, XMG, Origin PC or any other vendor, they will probably be selling you the base of a Clevo laptop fitted with the parts that you choose. Sager is the cheapest of them all and pulls it off without compromising on performance.

In your case, you should be looking for the Sager NP9370-3D model which is based on the Clevo P370EM3 chassis.

It outranks the Alienware M17x R4 and the M18x R2 in performance given that you choose the right components to put in. The Sager is sold via resellers thus giving it much better customisation options than the Alienware. However this is not an issue if you purchase an Alienware from a reseller which however is very hard to find and even when you do find a reseller that sells Alienwares, they will be restrained in the otherwise more options they can offer than those that are available on the Dell website. This is because when it comes to Alienware, the extra options are also produced and fitted by Dell and not the reseller.

But the guarantee with a Clevo based chassis is that it will always be cheaper than an Alienware given that both of them have been fitted with similar components. Plus, a Clevo based laptop is easier to maintain and upgrade (Sager allows hardware upgrades with component warranty)

Try it out yourself, go to this website: www.xoticpc.com and build an Alienware M18x R2 and a Sager NP9370-3D with the same (or similar components) and watch the Alienware price climb higher than the Sager by USD 500 - USD 800 depending on what components you select. Why am I comparing the Sager build to the M18x and not an M17x? That's because the M17x is a single GPU laptop and the Sager NP9370-3D is a DUAL GPU laptop. Thus to keep it fair, we need to compare the builds equally to the M18x which is also a DUAL GPU laptop.

People often argue over the difference between build qualities of both brands claiming in most cases that Alienwares are better built however, it is worthy to note that before Dell bought Alienware (and ruined it), Alienware used Clevo as their chassis' whereas now they don't. What I do know is that neither laptop has bad build quality since they need to be strong enough to hold what is inside them in the first place. 17 inches of real estate on a desk requires durability in a laptop as standard. Then again quality is not fact, it is an opinion. This is where many people confuse the better design of the Alienware as an indicator of better build quality. Alienware laptops are very intimidating in their looks and quite frankly deserve the stares they draw from the rest of a classroom/meeting room/office.

You mentioned that you'd rather the laptop for business reasons. The Sager wins in this department since it is very discrete in it's design and you can also choose to remove any branding from the body of the laptop to make it look plain. The Alienware is more ostentatious in this regard with all the obvious lighting and bodywork albeit a beautiful piece of design.

The screen. The Sager NP9370-3D comes with a 72% color Gamut 120hz display as standard. The Alienware M17x R4 does as well but without the Gamut adjustment unless you're buying form a reseller and they provide that service. Also the M17x R4 is a single GPU laptop whereas the NP9370-3D is a DUAL GPU laptop. The Alienware dual GPU laptop, the M18x R2 does not come with 3D capabilities nor a 120hz screen. In terms of replacement, I have not heard of any screen variants for any Alienware laptop on the market nor do I recommend it. Alienware laptops are the complete opposites of there desktop counterparts when it comes to customisation. which means that they do not handle it well. Sager on the other hand has a better track record in custom parts however I have not seen any screen replacement for the NP9370-3D on the market either.

The choice is yours however since Alienware in itself is not a bad choice if you have the money. They are powerful themselves. But my personal recommendation is a Sager NP9370-3D with the Nvidia 680m SLi setup which is more powerful, better value for money and leaves options for future customisation, upgrading (this includes CPU and GPU upgrades apart from RAM) and overclocking.

Please tell me the EXACT computer name and model.
PLEASE NO ALIENWARE! I heard the battery is really bad!

Answer
From whet I can say is laptops aren't really for gaming because their graphics won't be that amazing but they are still really good and these days developers make the games run just as goon on laptop as on PC but if your like me who travells alot and doesn't want to carry a tank PC on his back decent laptops with good specs will do fine. I personally have got a Samsun Windows 8 6gb ram DDR3 AMD radeon 8750 2.60 ghz and it runs all games at either Medium or High. If I were you and I were buying a computer no one would give a better answer than a computer specialist in a store so you better go out see ask and buy! but but the specs I told you will do everything you need gaming+study

Best gaming laptop between $1000-$1500?

Answer
Asus has really good gaming laptops in this price range. I have one in my mind which is really good for gaming. On the other hand it also performs other tasks really well which is clear from a review of an actual user. You'll be interested on this review, explaining the overall efficiency of this laptop:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1CFJPOMUA2B1A/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00ATZ9IUY&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=daieom-20

It has really good features for playing different games which includes:

It has fast and powerful Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor
It has good multitasking 8 GB DDR3
Huge storage with 1024 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
17.3-Inch Screen with NV GTX670MX w/ 3GB GDDR5
It has Windows 8 and it has a price of $1300.

So overall it is really good gaming laptop within your price range. And it has good reviews by the users and also has good technical features which makes it a good choice to go for. It is one of the good choice but you can look into other options as well in the market. See the list here for most popular laptops between $1000-$1500, those on the top of the list are normally good offers:

Gaming Laptop?

What is the best gaming laptop that is available, on eBay or from the manufacturer, for under $1500 USD? Links to the laptop will be highly appreciated.

Answer
Unfortunately,
when it comes to gaming laptops, Desktop replacement is a more appropriate term, you won't have much success finding a machine under $1500 and be able to play some of the newer tittles without having to lower the graphic to the lowest setting possible.

First off, make sure you really want a gaming laptop because chances of upgrading it (Graphic card) is very slim, the Li-ion battery will mostly likely serve as a decoration or a counter weight, it tends to get very warm and noisy due to the fans, and finally it's bulky and heavy. It's just not meant to stay on your lap; consider getting a cooling pad, set it on a table, and leave it there.

But if have to make a suggestion, I would say the Sager/Clevo NP2090 line.
It's not top of the line, but it's a good balance between price and performance.

http://www.xoticpc.com/product_info.php/cPath/95_51_162/products_id/1876
http://powernotebooks.com/specs/Sager/2090specs.php

Both xoticpc.com and powernotebooks.com are respectable resalers.

When it comes to laptops I stopped recommending 'brand names' (Sony, HP, Dell, etc.) quite a while ago, and especially when it comes to these types of machine. Their services and support are often sub-standard, and the "gaming" machines are often overpriced.

Final note is nothing replaces doing your own research.
A good place to start is http://forum.notebookreview.com/ a lot of helpful people here.

P.S. Operating system for the machines does not come standard for the 2 resalers I suggested, but if I recall correctly if you order Vista 64-bit, it comes with both the 64-bit and the 32-bit cds. You can get a lot for a $100.

My first gaming laptop?

i am looking to get a gaming laptop and would like to know what we be a good first gaming laptop. so if you can send me some links it will be greatfully appreciated.

Answer
For portability and gaming capability, you can't beat this:

**Sager NP7330** (GTX 765M, 13.3" 1920x1080 matte IPS) - **$1114**
- http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7330-clevo-w230st-p-6163.html
- Select Windows under Operating System, unless you can get your own copy for cheaper than their offer. Comes by-default without an OS.

---------

You've also got the NP7330's larger cousins:

**Sager NP7352** - **$1046**
- http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7352-clevo-w350st-p-5842.html
- 17.3" NP7370: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7370-clevo-w370st-p-5841.html
- Select Windows under Operating System, unless you can get your own copy for cheaper than their offer. Comes by-default without an OS.

---------

Take the next step up in GPU power with this:

**Sager NP8230** - **$1260**
- http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8230-clevo-p151sm1-p-5840.html
- Select Windows under Operating System, unless you can get your own copy for cheaper than their offer. Comes by-default without an OS.

---------

With what's currently one of the fastest single mobile GPUs available:

**Sager NP8250/8270** - **$1483/$1502**
- 15.6": http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8250-clevo-p157sm-p-5839.html
- 17.3": http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8270-clevo-p170sm-p-5913.html
- Select the AMD Radeon 8970M GPU. Avoid the Quadro K1000M as it's not a gaming-oriented GPU.
- Select Windows under Operating System, unless you can get your own copy for cheaper than their offer. Comes by-default without an OS.

---------

And a Lenovo option -- Not quite up to the level of even the GTX 765M, but still a good option to throw in the mix.

**Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p** - **$949**
- http://lenovo.com/barnesnoblegold/ (B&N Gold Discount: Sign up and sign in)
- Take this model: http://shop.lenovo.com/barnesnoblegold/uâ¦
- Avoid any models that come with the 1366x768 display.
- Use the graphics switching feature in the NVIDIA Control Panel to switch off the GT 750M when not gaming. You'll get rather good battery life that way. There may or may not also be an automatic feature.

---------

Want cheaper but still capable?

**Toshba Satellite P50** - **$899**
- http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cdetland.to?poid=2000098991

**Toshiba Satellite S70** - **$775**
- Start Here: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cdetland.to?poid=2000101467
- Scroll down to "Select Graphics Controller" and select the NVIDIA GT 740M (up from Intel HD)
- Scroll down to "Select Display" and select the 17.3" FHD 1920x1080 (up from 17.3" 1600x900)
- The laptop is only rendered a good choice if you buy a configuration that includes these two changes from the base configuration. You don't want Intel HD graphics if gaming is a primary interest of yours, and a 17.3" 1600x900 display is undesirable in general (see this answer's footnote). Don't downgrade either of these for things like trading out for other upgrades. For example, while the stock i3-3120M is fine for much of gaming, if it's something you're intent on upgrading, you'll want to do it in addition to, not instead of, the GT 740M GPU and 1920x1080 display. But by that point, you're probably better off just getting the Satellite P50. The purpose for recommending this model is to provide a cheaper option that comparatively sacrifices in something that isn't all that critical of a concern for much of gaming or for general use -- the CPU.

---------

Notes:
- All of these laptops come with "decent" displays. You want to make a point to avoid displays such as 15.6" 1366x768 and 17.3" 1600x900, which make things onscreen large and are almost always low-grade LCD panels with very poor image quality due to low contrast.
- It is generally recommended to buy Sager/Clevo models through a reputable reseller such as XoticPC. Buying through sagernotebooks.com leaves you without the decent customer service provided by one of the reputable resellers.

Good cheap gaming laptop?

I want a gaming laptop that can play things like Dragon age origins, skyrim, world of Warcraft, without lag. What would be a good laptop for those games for under 800$?

Answer
Gaming needs really good speed so you can play games without any delay. The laptop which I think has good processing speed and comes under your budget is Acer Aspire V3-571G-9686. It has a good combination of superior features and also affordable price.

It has Screen Size of1 5.6 inches which is really ideal size to have. The most important is its Processor2.2 GHz Core i7-3615QM which is really fast and efficient and will be helpful in playing games. It RAM6 GB SDRAM and Hard Drive 500 GB SATA. It has Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M which will give you superior graphics and It has Average Battery Life of 4.5 hours. So overall it is really good laptop.

Look at it for further details:

Gaming laptop suggestions?

Joey

Hi there. It's time to purchase a new computer and I want to buy my first laptop, so I can bring it with me where ever I go. With that said, I've looked at some options from Walmart (and anything is better than my four year old computer). My budget is $300-400. I know it's not much to work with, but I'm not looking to max out my settings in games I play, either.

World of Warcraft is what I play most of the time. Well as other games like Rift, TERA and Aion. I usually only lag when there's a large amount of people, with my current setup that is. For example, if a group consist of twenty to forty players, than I'll have problems. Not so bad that I can't adjust myself, though. If someone would be kind enough to suggestion what I should maybe get, then that would be awesome.

Answer
A gaming laptop with your budget.... my god that seems impossible. But heres the closest thing to possibly being able to play World of Warcraft (on low settings of course). http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-K55N-DB81-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B00COR29XI/ref=br_lf_m_1001058601_1_1_ttl?ie=UTF8&s=pc&pf_rd_p=1636061902&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1001058601&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1YGV66CF987QM8GQC05N#productDetails

The game was not released in 2004 as someone else stated...it was 2009. Regardless, I am certain this laptop will play Empire: Total War.

Why can't my laptop run Empire: Total War?

monkeysgal

Ok, I recently bought a new laptop. It's a Sony Vaio, Windows 7, 4Gig RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz processor. I was thinking about buying Empire: Total War but wanted to check it out first, so I downloaded a demo off of Steam. The video that plays when you first run the game is very choppy and constantly blinks on and off. When I try to play, the graphics cannot be set on high, only on medium or low, also the gameplay itself runs somewhat slow and choppy, and the graphics are pretty bad.

What's the deal? I have a the standard graphics card (Mobile Intel 45 Express Chipset Family), and I don't know much about it, but I'm assuming that since the computer is pretty good, the graphics card must be halfway decent. I ran dxdiag.exe and it said it has an approximate total memory of 1759 MB, that doesn't seem that bad....

I've been able to run Counterstrike: Source, Rome: Total War, World of Warcraft, and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne on it so far without any problems. Someone please explain to me what the problem is, and if it has to do with the graphics card, please suggest a decent one which would not make games fail so epically. Thanks!

Answer
Your problem is with the integrated graphics card. Intel graphics cards are the lowest of the low in performance and there are only a handful of games that will run on them from this era. Upgrading the GPU on a laptop is not possible 99% of the time. On the other hand you could attempt to install patches for the game which are delivered through steam. Patch 1.30 improves performance for multi-core processors. There may be other patches as well.

Best Multitasking,Gaming laptop?

Sacore

Recently, my notebook had crack on the hinge and everytime i would flip it open, it would make that crack bigger...and yea it happened. I cant open the lid anymore without the hinge bending, decoloring, and stretching the screen, cant have that right? soo i went to go see how much the repairs would be worthh and they said they couldnt fix it, and since its an older model, finding the parts for it would be pricey, and considering the age of the comp, its completely outdated and would better used for parts. So i wanna get a new one, but i do alot on it so what would be best for multitasking, like videos from youtube, while playing a web game without and computer lag, i also want good graphics card for playing games for example at most, GTA 4, or COD:MW. and i wanna stay under the price of 1000$, a lil over is ok but not like another 200$. I did a bit of research myself and found the Sony Vaio, never used one, never seen one in use, never thought of buying one. so im not to confident about buying it. someone give me some ideas, and for a comp more then 1000$, i want it to last obviously. Thanks ~
Ok, Alienware is awesome, no doubt, but i dont want something thats made to sit in one spot and every once in awhile be moved. I want something that i can carry with me all the time, and maybe if im lucky, have time to play a game or two,web games, a quick game of a Downloaded Pvp game, you know, something like that. Alienware, In the top 3 brand of computer to choose from.

Answer
Best multitasking gaming laptop that I would recommend is the Asus G73. I have had one for about a year and it has everything you need for gaming and multitasking. It is a little over your price range but you can definitely buy a refurbished one for around that price. I multitask all the time on mine and plays games on steam ALL OF THE TIME and it runs games like left 4 dead, portal, call of duty flawlessly!

It comes with 8 gigs of memory and depending on the model you get it comes with two 500 gig hard drives or two 320 gig hard drives.1920x1080p screen and a built in camera, I7 processor killer graphics card. Mines came with a ATI 5870 graphics card, but I think the newer ones come with Nvidia cards. HDMI port, and plenty usb ports

Asus warranty is good too. 1 year accidental (yes accidental) warranty and a two year hardware malfunction warranty. It also covers the charger too. This laptop/gaming rig is all you need right now and you will be very satisfied with it because I know I am and I'm a electronic junkie! Hope this helps. O yea I had a sony vaio brand new and I'm not trying to downgrade them but mines had failed me out of the box. I was upset that I had to send a 900 dollar lemon back to tigerdirect.com (which is a awesome site to look at) but I am glad I did because I added a little more money and purchased the asus g73-jh model.

For the record this is the best laptop/gaming rig for the price HANDS DOWN You will pay about a thousand dollars more for an alienware laptop with the same specs so this would be considered a steal.

Gaming Laptop for <$1000?

kcdogg550

I need a new laptop that can play the newest 3D games, and I only have $900-$1,000 to spend.

Please state why you feel it is the best, not just the laptop.

Thanks!

Answer
Gaming herdware + laptop = more than $1000 price tag.

Not a ton more, but if you want to play the NEWEST games you are looking at about $1500 and up for a laptop. You can get a good one for $1200-1400 but it's not going to play the very top-end 3D games.

Anything with an intergrated graphics card it going to kill high-end gaming. You are going to need one with a decrete graphics card and at least 2GB (but 4GB would be a lot better) RAM. At least a 2.0 Dual core processor, but 2.4GHz+ is best (like an Intel Core 2 Duo or better). All that's going to be tough to find for under a grand.

Sorry to say, but for a true gaming laptop you've got to shell out fifteen hundred or more.

what are good gaming laptops for under 1000?

Topher L

the best one to my knowledge is the lenovo y series laptop 510p/410p. i want to know if anyone can recommend a better laptop for under a 1000, or even cheaper than the 510p. i dont need a laptop that can play at ultra. medium setting for a game like bioshock infinite would be good enough. please can you tell me the cheapest gaming laptop you know of or even the best one for under 1000?

Answer
Lenovo 510p is the best gaming laptop for your below $1000 budget. There's no better laptop than that

What would you consider the best gaming laptop for 2012?

Quantum

Well apparently my mother said I could get a new laptop and I would like one for gaming. Any suggestions?

Answer
Until 2012 is over you cant really make a best of, but I know alienware makes some pretty nice stuff if you can afford it. Also if you wan't any good gaming laptop expect to pay around 1000+ dollars.

What are some nice gaming laptops with other good qualities (2012)?

Jim

I really want an excellent gaming laptop but I dont want a computer that only has nice graphics and runs games well. I would like something with a lot of memory that will last me a good time battery wise AND years. Something that run fast for a good portion of it's life and I'm not looking for a mac. If you are going to get technical, please explain what the things like DDR3 memory and stuff like that mean because I am not too advanced in that department. Please include prices and if possible, a link to buy it at. Thank you!

Answer
The hp hdx isn't bad i own one and its awesome!! no problems owned for 2 years now.
you shouldn't worry about the hard drive memory because i have a 320 gb model and its more than enough (and i do alot on my computer), you can buy an external hard drive if you somehow fill up the 320 gb (i have one and i use it for back up)
I play Gta 4 on it all the time and it runs great.
It has a nice 16in screen which is just the perfect size for games and movies and if you get one with blu-ray its a perfect dvd/movie player
its just a nice laptop all around and just like you need it can play games but it works for other things like homework and such.
its $545 on amazon, its used though, but seems like a good deal
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001NPDKTO/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

hopefully i could help, and I wish you good luck on finding the perfect laptop.

I have a Sony Vaio vpcf21afx 3D laptop, what 3d glasses do I need?

evaohell

I just bought a used Sony Vaio vpcf21afx with Bluray and 3d LCD...but it didn't come with the glasses...there are 2 types, passive and active...which do I use?

Answer
Another recent addition to the 3D gaming market comes in the form of the Sony VAIO F series (model VPCF21AFX/BI) 16-inch laptop. This notebook weighs in at a little over seven pounds and features a full HD display. It makes a great multimedia laptop with the included Blu-ray drive. Unfortunately, the price is nearly $2,000, so if you're not looking to game or watch movies in 3D you might want to consider a different 2D laptop to save money.
Pros

3D Capable
Full HD Display
Blu-ray Drive

Cons

Review â Sony VAIO F Series 3D 16-Inch Laptop (Model VPCF21AFX/BI)

The Sony VAIO VPCF21AFX/BI is a part of the F Series line, which is typically geared for multimedia enthusiasts. But the Sony VAIO VPCF21AFX/BI is a special model considering it can display 3D content. This is a great feature for those looking to game in 3D or watch movies on the system.

The Sony VAIO F Series notebook (model VPCF21AFX/BI) features an Intel Core i7-2720QM quad-core processor with a 2.2GHz base speed and Turbo Boost functionality up to 3.3GHz. For a notebook costing around $2,000 this is a nice processor that offers fast performance.

Along with the Sandy Bridge CPU, the VAIO is equipped with 6GB of DDR3 1333MHz memory. It's worth noting that this model is a Ready-to-Ship system so what you see is what you get. The notebook does, however, support up to 8GB of memory. If you want to swap out the 2GB module for a 4GB one, it's possible.

The standout feature on the Sony VAIO VPCF21AFX/BI is the display. This 16-inch screen features a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 for a clear HD viewing experience. This is definitely a positive attribute as the laptop is equipped with a Blu-ray drive. And since it is 3D capable, the Sony VAIO F Series laptop takes multimedia to a whole new level. One nice feature is the ability to toggle between 2D and 3D modes via a simple switch. Unfortunately, you will need to wear 3D glasses to play games or watch movies in 3D, but the system comes with a pair.

In terms of graphics, the Sony VAIO VPCF21AFX/BI runs an NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M video card with 1GB GDDR3 video memory. This card performs well in a variety of games from Rift to Dragon Age II, but you'll want to consider disabling anti-aliasing to produce better frame rates. And yes, the GT 540M can be found in other systems that are cheaper, but remember, you are paying for 3D capability and the Blu-ray drive.

Storage space is also a bit underwhelming for the price. Equipped with a 640GB 7200RPM hard drive, it would be nice if Sony offered a hybrid SSD drive at least for the price, since 640GB isn't all that spacious anymore.

In conclusion, the Sony VAIO VPCF21AFX/BI is a great notebook for gamers looking to play in 3D and movie buffs seeking a multidimensional experience on a computer. If you rely on your laptop for watching content, the full HD display and standard Blu-ray drive are nice features to have. However, the notebook only supports up to 8GB of memory, which is a hindrance. The VAIO VPCF21AFX/BI is best suited for 3D enthusiasts.

What type of gaming laptop should i buy?

GGvietboiG

I'm looking for a gaming laptop that's around $1200 or less, preferably something in the Sager or Alienware line but anything that's good is fine, and maybe something that wont be boiling hot after a couple hours of gameplay would be good :).

Answer
Aliewnare laptops are the best gaming laptops. You can take that from me because I did many reviews on the Alienware line of gaming laptops. Any model from Alienware would do but I believe $1200 is not enough since Alienware laptops are so expensive. But if you could spare extra cash, that shouldn't be a problem.

Another good gaming laptop brand would be from Dell. The Dell XPS series are ideal gaming laptops and your $1200 price tag covers a variety of different models.

Toshiba is another good brand which serves for both business and gaming. I prefer the Toshiba Qosmio which is a monster for its wicked sound system and unbelievable performance. But it is a little expensive. The Toshiba Portege should cover your cost.

I want to buy a decent gaming laptop.?

I want to buy a decent gaming laptop, PC is impossible because I don't have enough space, I'm willing to spend â¬600-â¬700, around $780-$910 USD

Brand buying advice

Choose wisely.

windows 8.1 game install help?

Jordan19

does anyone know how I can install quake 4 for my windows 8.1 gaming laptop? I inserted the disc and all I get are error signs like outta boundry -1, or error code.........I want to play this game so much, plz help....

Answer
Hello,

As Q4 is an older game released on 2005 for MS Windows, while released via Steam in 2011.
I have installed games from 1997 (Total Annihilation) to ArmA 3 (2013) on my Windows 8.1 Pro based system.
You may need to install it using "Compatibility Mode".
So unless your disc has a scratch, you will be able to install and play it.

My Gaming Laptop is running games significantly worse than it did 3.5 years ago, is this natural in Laptops?

Lars

I am also worried that my laptop will not be able to run games that will come out in the future, like Company of Heroes 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marines. Can you also please comment on my specifications?* Is it time for me to go with a Gaming Desktop?
I suspect the problem is overheating but cooling pads are not helping.

* Specifications
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 1GB
Processor: Intel core i5 Dual Core 2.27 ghz
RAM: 4GB

Thank you- Lars

Ps: Provide as much detail as possible please, am thinking about replacing my laptop with a Desktop for Gaming, may still use it for other things

Answer
Consider replacing your gaming laptop to something more modern to today's gaming standards.

The 5650 is hardly worth the name of a gaming card these days. That is a mid-tier card or not even a gaming card depending on one's perspective. Your gaming laptop seem to perform fine about 4 years ago because games back then weren't as demanding. Now, in 2011- 2013 games right now are much more intensive if you want to play on the highest settings.

So again, consider looking for a better gaming rig. Yours is simply outdated. Not that there were problems with overheating or the cooling pads.

Any good gaming laptops under 600?

Bud

I'm already building a gaming desktop, but I just want to know if there are any good gaming laptops under $600. I like the mobility of laptops, and if I can have both a gaming desktop and a laptop that would just be awesome. I've been looking a lot of places but the specs for the gpu on a lot of them just suck while they have a spectacular processor.
Like there are laptops with i7's for around 600 but have a crap GPU. I want at least an i5 for intel or a good quad core for amd with good graphics. Best answer to best find

Answer
Then opt for Dell Inspiron i17R-1316sLV because it has a good processor according to what you want. It has Intel Core i5 3210M 3.1 GHz which fairly fast enough in i5 category and it has a price of under $570. You can see the review from an actual user as well which is really helpful:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R2250VTXAVWRWP/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B009LTUB9G&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=faowiw-20

Its further specs include 6 GB DDR3 of memory which is really helpful in multitasking and it has storage of 1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive. It has 17-Inch Screen with good graphics card of Intel HD Graphics 4001. Overall it is really perfect according to what you want.

You can see other options which are around $600 and also has almost the same processor. Here is a list of those:

I would like to get a laptop that can handle most games and run them smoothly, it doesn't have to be able to run them at the highest resolution but the highest would be preferable. I'm also gonna use a lot of photoshop and video editing software. My budget is around $800-$1500.

Brand buying advise

Always avoid refurbished units. They only come with a 90 day warranty and have a higher failure rate. The service contacts are normally just a one time replace contract.

You get what you pay for. Systems with high end parts with low prices are to be viewed with suspicion. They have to cut corners somewhere to get the price down. What cost you less today is going to cost you more tomorrow.

Lenovo has serious stand behind their product problems. They bought IBM PC division and proceeded to drive the quality of the system into the ground. Their customer service is well below par. They even makes Dell customer service look good. Lenovo will not allow people to read instruction on how to access the BIOS menu or to get info on their puters on their web site unless you connect to them thru Facebook. They do this so they can spy on their users. The last and final thing to remember about them is they are a Chinese Government own company. It is up to you if you want to trust them.
