Answer
LOL for 'gaming laptop'! And worst is you are looking for a mid range.. To be honest, its pointless to spend on any 'gaming laptop', they are just disappointment in gaming no matter how much you spend on them.. Even the most expensive i7 based 'gaming laptop' can not outperform a much lower priced i3 desktop with a dedicated gfx.. So if ur in gaming, get a capble desktop do not waste your money on 'gaming laptop'.. Its not just the processor and size of graphics card memory that give you perfomance.. Components used in all laptops are crappy and slow so that they can run on that lil power and its a complete waste if you are accepting gaming.

I need some laptop advice?

Q. I am looking to buy a laptop but have found that reviews online are mostly about how how easy it is to use websites rather than how well the laptop preforms.
One I was researching was the MSI GX60 3AE-216US. It is about $1300
but is it worth the price?
And if not, what else is there that gives great graphics and processing for a big time gamer.
This is my selling point. I need to get a laptop soon, (for college) but I have some money saved up because I want a great gaming laptop, not a crap only-microsoft word-laptop. I really want great graphics, but not if they disable performance and cause large lag spikes.
Please help a gamer out. I have been researching for a year, and don't want my money to go to waste.
(I know desktops are better, but I need a laptop so don't suggest desktops, I need something portable because I travel a lot too. On that note weight is no issue and 15" is the smallest I will go in screen size)

If you are willing to play games at medium graphics quality, then you need these spec:
intel i3 3rd gen 2.4 Ghz, 1GB graphics card avg graphics card, 4gb RAM (at least 1333Mhz speed).

One of the cheapest laptop for this is Samsungs one:
http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/notebook/essential/NP300E5X-S03IN

I'm not sure if this is available in your country though. But, anyways, In India, it is Rs 33000. 1$ =60rupees. Since all laptops are produced in china, assuming same import tax, in your country it may cost you around 550$.

So, you should expect to find a laptop for less than 600$ that give decent gaming experience.

However, if you need Ultra high end graphics (IMHO, I don't realise what is there so much about graphics. I believe good games are the ones that has good story/action and medium graphics withot lag is good enough), then you need these specs:
i7 quad core (some i7 are dual core. Be careful) 3Ghz, High end graphics card with clock speed at about 800Mhz, and 2GB memory- dedicated, RAM of 6gb @1600Mhz clock speed. Rest all is up to you.
This should cost you at least 1300$ as high end graphics card is costly.

For High, not ultra high graphics, go for i7 quad or dual @2.8-3.0 Ghz, RAM 4GB @1600Mhz, medium graphics card (about 500-600Mhz), with 1 Gb memory.
This should cost you around 800-1000$
Go to ebay or other shopping sites and sort out your laptop by ticking the check boxes about the features you want. And select the laptop on the basis of lowest price for given specs.

*Note*
Don't buy appe PC at any cost if you care about "value for money"- mac is overpriced. (performance may be good but not worth the cost)
