Best laptop for under $3000?

Bob H

I'm looking for a laptop that will be if not top-notch, then at least very formidable in four years.

Things I'm looking for:

* Very quick and able to multi-task engineering software.

* Ability to cope with and dominate games like Crysis and games in the near future.

* Preferably 18" or 16" 16:9 display ratio with high HD capabilities.

* Very high end graphics card.

* Very high end sound card.

* At least 4 GB (preferably more) RAM.

* At least 350 GB Hard Drive.

* Bluetooth ready.

* Wireless card ready.

*Anything else you can think of that's beneficial.

I look forward to your responses and expertise.

Thank You.
* Forgot to mention, Blue Ray drive is a must.
I have been researching quite a bit. Please help me out if you know a lot about what you're talking about. It would be really appreciated.
Some of these recommendations are from manufactures such as Sager and Toshiba. Are these good names in laptop OEM's, or should I stick with HP, Dell or Sony?

Answer
The HP HDX16T series has everything you have listed plus more, and is a VERY good laptop. I have one, and 8 other computers in my household. I like it and my 17 inch macbook pro the best. You can get the hdx with 8 gigs of ram, 500 gig hard drive, blue ray, bluetooth, hi def wide screen, and much more for around 2,500.

For MW3 on low you need Intel HD Graphics 3000 or better even without dedicated RAM. Some try to fool you with a bad dedicated graphics card.

The 7670M would get high settings on MW3 if the CPU doesn't bottleneck it. 6650M would be just a little lower in frame rate, and there are a few games that might fall between these chips as running or now. You might be able to change a ram card in the 4GB model. pop out a 2GB and put in a 4GB. The Acer has gigabit ethernet in hardwire connect

First of all i know you cant get a "gaming laptop" for under $500.. Im just looking for a laptop that will play games like minecraft on high settings without lag and good fps. I would also really want to record gameplay aswell. For other games i am looking for medium setting with no lag and playable fps. Here are some of the laptops I have found.. Please tell me if these are good for what i need and please tell me some other laptops that would work.

Answer
The Acer is by far the best for gaming.

Mac's cost a fortune for what you get. Average is alphabetical.
Your #1 and #4 are the same system. And I checked yesterday and you want to raise your price to $530 there is another potential that is not as good at gaming but would run everything else better:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215419
It is well above the HP+Toshiba

Toshiba Satellite Pro C650-EZ1523D is a sturdy high quality system for the price as business level with Win 7 Pro, Intel Core i3-2350M is passmark 2943 Graphics G3D around 300 for Intel HD 3000 8GB RAM and 640GB HDD but only 10/100 ethernet. It is a fine system for schoolwork and is reliable, but not a gaming laptop at all.

Acer Aspire AS5560G-7809 A6-3420M 1.5GHz, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, AMD Radeon HD 7670M I have spotted before and is a good gaming value at $450. They raised the price from $400 because it is still underpriced. The passmark score is 2304 and G3D score is 823 and is 2GB x 2 + 1GB for a total of 5GB RAM but is a small HDD by todays standards, and is 3 USB 2.0 indicated a slower bus speed as not having USB 3.0, but is gigabit ethernet so overall is a world better than the Toshiba.

The HP ProBook 4530s A7K06UT is their business line at least average in quality in the world of laptops (as opposed to their consumer do-do). It matches the Toshiba for gaming, but differs in smaller HDD, less DRAM, does have a USB 3.0 port and gigabit ethernet.

Of the 3, the Acer is by far the best for gaming by quite a bit because the Graphics is much more important than the CPU, but in the low level CPU of the Acer, it will probably cut into the frames per second as bottlenecking or gating and may not be as stable as it could be with a stronger CPU.

The $530 with free shipping from Newegg (tax collection varies by your location), Acer Aspire V3-551-8664 Notebook AMD A-Series A8-4500M(1.90GHz TurboCORE up to 2.8GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 750GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 7640G
The A8-4500M is AMD's answer to Intel's i5 M series with a Passmark score of 4293 almost double the other Acer and well above the HP+Toshiba and a higher clock speed than the A6 of the first Acer and is the newer die revision of tighter spacing in the chip. The 7640G co-packaged hybrid graphics is below the 7670M discrete graphics, but is still a respectable 631 G3D twice as good as the Intel integrated. With the extra GB of total RAM, the much bigger HDD, still with gigabit ethernet and also Bluetooth 4.0+HS for cellphone links, USB 3.0 assures the higher bus speed inside it, windows 8 compatible touchpad, better web cam. This system is all around much better than the $450 Acer, but is a really touch call because for gaming, it doesn't do nearly as high on settings, and the most intensive games are unplayable. I bring it up as another possibility in case you also do video editing or other things besides gaming, because you already know the gaming systems are better than the laptops for gaming.

So, on under $500 gaming, no question the Acer with the 7670M is the best. On an all-around usage, a $530 is much better, but weaker on gaming as you would see in notebookcheck.
USing Game-debate The Secret World (high graphics game) recommended is to have class 6 on each part.
The $450 Acer has a class 6 CPU, class 5 graphics, class 7 RAM and can run it no problem.
The $530 Acer has The CPU is class 8, but graphics only class 4 and RAM class 8
So scores only a maybe with lag in this game.
The Toshiba is class 7-3-9 and is worse.

What's the best laptop for under a thousand dollars?

best gaming laptops under 3000 on Best Gaming Laptops Under 500 Dollars | Kale Blog
best gaming laptops under 3000 image
Q. Looking for one to get for my little sister. She's in high school and will be using it for school, but also for playing games like The Sims and stuff. I'd like to get her one that'll last her into college, if possible. Thanks very much for your help!

Answer
There's so many laptops. You should do research yourself. Asking here helps but this is such a general question. Look up reviews on different brands. You can find many great laptops for under 1000. Think to yourself. Do you want an ultrabook? Do you want this feature and that feature? That will narrow down what you want. Then just look at reviews and prices and make a decision. Good luck.

Keep in mind the more you spend on it, it will be more future proof. Seems like you got the right idea in mind. Spend good money but don't overdue it.

Some brands I like for average people are Samsung, Sony Vaio, Asus, and a few others. For gaming and high performance, Maingear and Asus ROG.

I haven't like Dell and HP because their build quality is usually bad but they have gotten better.
If you could find an Asus ROG (maybe a G55) laptop for under $1000 that would be awesome. But it's not very portable.

Don't buy a mac. They are overpriced.

For games make sure you have the latest integrated technology (found in sandybridge and ivybridge processors with intel hd 4000 and 3000) for games like the sims. For things like console games like MW3, Skyrim, you will want a dedicated GPU. I would recommend a 4 core processor highly. Any 4 core is plenty fast and you will love it. 8 gb of ram is also a must. That's all you need. 4gb is limited so 8 is perfect. An SSD is also an option but storage is limited for the price.

Good luck. Keep in mind build quality as well as performance.

What gaming laptops do you reccomend?

Q. Hello all, well I have been interested in buying a gaming laptop for a long time. Now just to put this out there I don't want a gaming desktop although they are considered the best for gaming, but I do plan on traveling a lot. I want to be able to run games that are coming up like MGS V Phantom Pain on max setting, but I also like modding games like Skyrim. I did check out the latest laptops by dell (alienware), but the most powerful laptop listed on the site is around 2000-5000. I don't mind an expensive laptop if it provides alot of power, but it seems like some things could be better. Do you think I should buy an Alienware laptop or do you guys have other top recommendations?

Answer
Ok so there are lots of gaming laptops out there but here are my three favourites:
1)Razer Blade Pro- You can get this laptop for under $3000 and it comes packed with 8gb's of RAM, 126GB/256GB/512GB of Hard drive(it's an SSD so it will boot up really fast) NVIDIA® GeForce GTX® 765M
(2GB GDDR5, with Optimus Technology)
17.3â Full HD 16:9 Ratio,
1920x1080 Full HD LED Backlit Screen
and btw the razer blade is SUPER THIN
http://www.razerzone.com/au-en/store/razer-blade-pro
2)The New Alienware 17 Laptop
The top of the range alienware laptop comes with and i7 proccessor, windows 8, 32GB's of RAM, and a 1TB Hard Drive
3)Macbook pro with retina dis[lay
Usually people say macs arent good for gaming but with the specs the new macbook pro with retina display has i could be able to run most games on high settings with no lag. Most games are made for windows but with bootcamp(this comes preinstalles with OSX) you can install windows on a mac

These are my ideas-hope it helped.

What to look for when buying a gaming laptop?

best gaming laptops under 3000 image

I have gone crazy with thousands of different questions in my mind..
Can anyone tell me please what to look for in a gaming laptop?? Which can run Max Payne 3 in a smooth way!! What brand? i7 or i5... How much ram..! Which VGA card Nvidia or Radeon and what size? Please give me a simple answer as because i dont have knowledge about laptops and i dont wanna waste my money by any wrong choice..

Answer
Look up the video card models under passmark's website to get a benchmark score.

Example you can google 8800 gt passmark.
or hd 7850 passmark

You will get scores. I would try to get something in the thousands. 2000 is good card. 3000 is great card. this shows you price comparisons to the best cards on the market.

i7 is going to be the best processor series you can buy. i5's and i7's will make for a good gaming laptop. You can look up the benchmark of the processor model numbers to. Just look for the laptop with the highest numbers. This can be a tedious process and time consuming but it will be worth it.
Also look at the model number for the laptop and look at reviews and ratings for that exact laptop. People will probly mention things like. I can play skyrim at max settings or ultra... or it plays this and that at medium settings and so on. You can get a general consensus on what you want and what will suite your needs.

What is the best gaming laptop?

Just wanting to know some good gaming laptops, under $1000 please.
I want one that will be fast when playing very large games. And will not freeze often while gaming, and has good graphics. Which one should I get?
Most of the games I play unfortunately you cannot play on a Mac, It broke my heart too.
I'm thinking of getting a Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7380, I looked on Amazon and most of the reviews were really good, The worst review said that the hard drive needed to be replaced after 5 months but thats alright, anyone agree with it?

Answer
The best laptop right now is the Alienware m18x, but the price is around 3000. If youre buying one under 1000 you should get the MSI Force 16f3, a decent laptop that can run most games at high graphics. When buying a gaming laptop you need to check for the best graphics card that you can afford, i suggest nvidia (gtx). Also you need to check for decent ram 8 gb is good, and nice proccessor i5, i7.You can check them out at xoticpc.com they have the best gaming laptops and you can customize them. I bought mine on that site and they ground ship for free.

It should have wifi, a built in webcam, a good bit of memory and a dvd burner. I don't want it too big or too small either.

I'd like a specific laptop like a HPtx2110us or a Dell Vostro 1520 not just a company. Thanks.

Answer
I wouldn't get a Mac to start, Only 10% of computers sold are Macs so there no point learning on a niche product...

Also a Mac will be 4x the price of a Dell with the exact same cpu and ram specs... Then theres program support... Windows will run almost any apps or games ever released, Macs dont even support 10% of available software out there and almost no games....

Any hardware like printers or usb attachments will always work with windows but u almost always have to buy silly expensive Apple branded Peripherals for a Mac just so it will work properly with it..

As for specifics, Any decent brand like Dell with an i7 cpu will offer more than enough power for ur first computer.. Most decent i7 laptops now come with at least 6GB ram and a blue ray drive... Thats more than 2x the computing power of a Macbook and at also less than 1/2 the price....

Then again, a cheap core 2 duo with 4 GB ram will offer great performance still for under $500... Same spec as Macbook but 1/4 the price...

Tho an i7 with 6GB ram and a blueray drive laptop is cutting edge and still will cost under $1000...

Would be over $3000 to get the same specs in a Mac, Even tho they are made of the exact same parts inside....
