Processor Requirements to Play a Game on my laptop?

Seor Dav

I want to buy Anno 1404, which says the system requirement for the processor is 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4. I am using a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. My processor is an Inter(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16 GHz 2.17 GHz. Will the game run properly on my laptop?

I meet all of the other requirements for OS, RAM, ROM and video card memeory.
@Joshua: The game isn't listed on that site, but thanks; nice idea.
@Chirag: Wikipedia says that the maximum clocked CPU rate of a Pentium 4 is 3.8 GHz, while the maximum clocked CPU rate of a Dual Core is 3.06 GHz. It seems that the single Pentium 4 can run faster than the Dual Cores.

Answer
Yes, you meet the CPU requirement. The minimum CPU requirement is a 3 GHz Intel Pentium 4. Since that is a minimum, any superior CPU meets the requirement. Your T3400 is vastly superior to a 3GHz Pentium 4.

To give you an idea how superior it is: The PassMark CPU rating of a 3GHz Pentium 4 is 488. The PassMark CPU rating of a T3400 is 1,133.

Your CPU came out at the end of 2008. The 3GHz Pentium 4 came out in 2000. Do you really think 8 years of product research and development yielded a CPU that was inferior?!

"Wikipedia says that the maximum clocked CPU rate of a Pentium 4 is 3.8 GHz, while the maximum clocked CPU rate of a Dual Core is 3.06 GHz. It seems that the single Pentium 4 can run faster than the Dual Cores."

This is based on a very serious misunderstanding. The NetBurst microarchitecture in the Pentium 4 is nothing like the Core microarchictecture in the Core 2. You cannot compare clock speeds across CPU architectures. It's like saying a bicycle is faster than a 747 because it has more pedals.

gaming laptop!!!?

Philosophi

hi. im interested in buying a laptop for pc games. i dont want a flashy one, because im not willing to shell out 1000 bucks for one. im looking for a laptop that will support the minimum requirements for games like call of duty4, halo, etc.
im looking to spend around 400-500 bucks
thanks

Answer
well I hate to tell you but you can hardly find a basic laptop for 500 bucks these days. A minimum gaming model would probably be about 900+. One with a good processor and graphics card won't be. Easy to find under 1000 or so. Sorry. If I had to bet I'd go with one of the less advertised brands, try compaq or toshiba ( ive got a toshiba )
