Should I buy a macbook pro now 2011 or wait for the 2012 version?

RuddyMoua

Don't tell me to buy something else different because I want the macbook pro for school.
Is the Macbook pro 2012 version going to be faster?
What do you think about bootcamp and games?
Games like
Lower end games
DOTA
LOL

Higher end games
Starcraft 2
Diablo 3 when it comes out.

Answer
for gaming, I would be better off having a PC, preferably an Alienware because its graphics are much better and more powerful than macbook pro.

But....

If you want a macbook pro for gaming, yes you'll have to dual boot (bootcamp), the 15" and 17" are better for gaming, 15" high end 2.2Ghz has much better graphics and would strongly recommend that for its GPU speed and processor speed.

I bootcamp my macbook pro for dota allstars (game is very addicting) and as far as I can tell, its not as bad as you think. It will work almost like a PC, but it gets hot, thats my only concern ( I have a cooler pad for mine. ) My macbook is able to handle the games for hours, tested intensely over the summer.

If you want to game on macbook pro, I strongly recommend a cooler pad because your mac will get extremely hot. Keep your laptop cool so the battery will long last and so is your laptop (clean it regularly from the inside, ie clean the fan from dust)

don't wait for 2012 because it will not change much, just some software updates and thats about it. Get it now if you want to.

if you want to save money on macbook pro, buy it from internet because you can save over $200. Don't buy one from apple store, they will rip you off.

EDIT: A 15" mac will be able to handle that, your a dota fan as well? nice, I thought I was the only one.

How can I get my Laptop to It's Formor Self?!?

Q. Hey,
So I bought my laptop maybe...3 years ago. It was awesome, fast, easy and played all the latest games. Then the screen broke and took a year ( I know, long time) for the company to fix it. So then it was 2011 and I played my games again but you could say it was an average laptop now. I'd say from this summer from last summer I've really used my laptop and it progressively got slower and crappier.

Now it's really bad and I get really frustrated with it. I cleaned out my laptop a few weeks ago yet it is still slow and doesn't respond to the internet well (looses connection often and only has 3 bars as supposed to full bars).

Please help! I'm not getting a new computer for awhile and now I'm doing lots of programming and photo editing (and some gaming) and this slowness isn't helping.

Thanks.

P.S don't say reboot, I bought a reboot cd and the laptop just failed to reboot.

Answer
You will have to reinstall to get it to work how you want. Hello, I hope you have a back up of your data...How to reinstall a operating system with out a recovery disk. If you can't find the ones that you made or the ones that came with the computer. I assumed you already tried (and failed) to use the [ recovery partition.] this is the easy way... This means that the next step is to call tech support, and tell them that the recovery partition doesn't work, or you can't find the recovery discs you made... and then they can SELL you a set of recovery discs that you may have to copy to a usb drive.

That's just the way it works. There are two other ways use any other disk and when it is time to activate, call Microsoft on the phone with the activation window open and give them the coa or product code on the phone and they will activate and give you a number at that time.

You need the OEM installation specifically for the same version of the windows that came with your laptop. Otherwise, anything other than an OEM installation of that is the same kind that came with your laptop (Basic, Professional, etc) your product key won't work. Of course, if you choose to go that route, make sure you FIRST download all the drivers for your model laptop... else you might have trouble going on line afterwards to get the drivers.
This site has general information to help Install, reinstall, and uninstall Windows - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows
This site you can down load windows files legally http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-â¦
But then you have to burn iso file to a DVD or usb drive and it is not that easy to do. To get a good accurate answer give the brand, model number, installed operating system of the laptop when asking a question as all PC's are not the same. Hey, I enjoyed your question, I have worked as a technician most of my life, I hope I have helped you...

I am a college student looking for a quality lightweight laptop. I don't game or anything like that, mostly just browse the web (stream movies/tv, fb, etc), use word/excel/PowerPoint plus I have a decent amount of music/pictures. Long battery life and ultra portability are most important to me, also price. These two computers are my top contenders. Suggestions/help/advice?? Thank you so much!

Answer

How to speed up my incredibly slow computer (laptop)?

best gaming laptops summer 2011 image

My computer is incredibly slow. iTunes acts as if it buffers while playing songs. Typing words (much like right now) in Microsoft Word or on a website address bar, for example, occasionally take forever to process. Games run slowly and often lag (I have confirmed it is not an internet connection problem). Videos such as those on youtube take millenia to load, and even when completely buffered, will not play smoothly (even on the lowest quality). Web browsing, as in simply typing in a web address and waiting for it to load can often take minutes at different times. It is all incredibly frustrating.

This computer is a laptop, an Acer Aspire 5000 series (5253-BZ602 to be precise) that is running Windows 7. It has a dual core processor (AMD E-350), 4 gigs of RAM (I added two of these, yes I made sure they were meant for a laptop and yes I made sure that I a) installed them correctly and b) the laptop recognizes they are in and uses them), 250 GB HDD (61.3 GB of which are currently free at this moment, I don't think that is terrible), and an AMD Radeon HD 6310 video card. My step father has an Acer with relatively the same specs but not the same issues. I have had this laptop since Summer of 2011, beginning of June to be precise.

I have run multiple scans and various cleaners, all of which are completely up to date. I use Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus software, and I run Malware Bytes probably a little more often than once a month. I have just finished with a registry clean and whatever else CCleaner by Piriform offers (both scans). I have run Smart Defrag 2.0 by IOBit (as Defraggler by Piriform builds the file list until 29% and then will not continue, a process I have let run for as much as four days) successfully and it says my computer has good health. I have also gone through and weeded out a majority of the bloatware the laptop is loaded with and also properly uninstalled many programs I no longer use via the Control Panel. As far as web browser, I default to Mozilla Firefox, but also use Google Chrome whenever Firefox seems slow.

Needless to say, I am incredibly frustrated. I cannot possibly fathom what is wrong with this thing. It is no different than any other computer of its kind, yet it behaves so poorly. If there is any kind of help anyone can offer me, that would be incredible. Please ask questions if you need more information about my system and or its specs and I will be happy to add that to my question. I just want to be able to have a computer that runs smoothly and properly like it is supposed to.

Thank you so much.
A few more details-

1) All my updates are...well, up to date (Windows, Java, etc.)
2) My laptop was NOT like this when I first got it, it has slowly gotten worse
3) I have made sure that on startup, the computer is not running a bunch of programs it doesn't need to, and I rarely have anything I don't need running in the background.
4) I hardly call 4GB of RAM "not enough RAM", especially when I know people with computers containing only 2GB of RAM that don't experience the problems I experience.
5) As I have already mentioned, I have run CCleaner, which is just a better form of a Disk Cleanup.

Answer
There are a couple possibilities, but some will be beyond your ability to diagnose.

1) hard drive falling out of DMA mode

If you check in device manager, and IDE channels, all of them should be in Ultra DMA or DMA mode. If any of them says PIO, they're in fallback mode and thus very very slow.

2) You just have too much stuff loaded

Run Soluto (soluto.com, of course) and when prompted, restart the computer. It will take inventory of your startup process and let you know what can be removed and what needs to stay. Seems every program wants to leave something in the startup nowadays.

3) Your hard drive is dying

Download a tool that tells you the hard drive's "SMART" status. A dying hard drive would act very slow. A thorough scandisk may or may not detect it. (i.e. right click, properties, tools, check for errors) If it's showing warnings, you'll need to replace the HD.

Why does my macbook air get so hot?

We got laptops from school, and they are the 13" macbook air 2011. Now, almost every time i do something on it, it gets really hot in the upper left area of the keyboard and most of the time it gets really really hot. I'm using on a flat surface, and i'm usually doing a simple task like typing on the internet or something with no other applications open. Why does it get this hot? I though it wasn't supposed to do that since it had and SSD.

Answer
The heat is the processor/graphics. All the graphics hardware is built into the processor.

The most common reasons for fan noise / overheating:
-- Video intensive tasks (HD video or games). Fix: Take a five minute break every 30 minutes to let the system cool.
-- Using the computer on the bed. Fix: Take it off the bed.
-- Case/cover attached. Fix: Remove the case/cover. This includes keyboard cover. The keyboard is the input channel for Air.
-- Hot room (in summer). Fix: turn on the A.C.
-- Dust bunnies build up in the fan housing. Fix: Take apart and clean the fan area.
-- Using the computer on the bed. Fix: Take it off the bed.
-- Fan is faulty. Fix: Take apart and replace the fan.

Answer
Macbook Pro from the choices you gave, but Macs are not built for gaming.

If you're interest is for gaming, get a PC which provide far better system specs and will smoke a Mac at that price.

However, if you're a casual gamer and don't care much for gaming, the Macbook Pro would be the best investment for the long run. But, I would just wait till the new line-up of Macs come out which should be announced near April 2011. They probably will release a new line of Macbooks before or this summer when they launch their new OS x Lion.

If you have to buy asap and if it has to be a Mac, the 15in would be the wisest choice. The newer models run the (currently older) Intel i5 and i7 processors while the 13in Macbook Pro runs the 5 year old Duo Core 2. IMO, if you want a laptop that can play games, you can find some with the newest and latest Intel Core i7 Sandy Bridge, have about 8GB of RAM, 620GB 7200rpm or 1TB 5400rpm, 1600x900 res, and still have about 400-500 bucks left depending on company you buy from.

If you can wait about a month, just get the upcoming Sony Vaio F series 3D that will release at the end of Feb. It's loaded with the new Intel Core i7 2630QM (Sandy Bridge) Processor, 8GB of RAM, 640GB 7200rpm, 16in Full HD 1080p Display, 1920x1080 res, Nvidia GeForce GT540M with 1 GB memory, Windows 7, Blu-Ray, New 3D feature, etc etc all for about the same price as the current 15in Macbook Pro

Best Upcoming editing and gaming laptop laptop for 2011(After Summer)?

Philip

I'm looking for a good laptop that can play games at about medium high settings and edit video footage. I have about 1100$ that I can spend after this summer maybe a little more. I was hoping I can buy a pretty good one on black Friday but I'm not sure how that work with laptops. I was looking at the m14x in alienware but not sure about the price tag on it(Can Black Friday help?). If anyone has any good suggestions feel free to help thanks. =)

Answer
aliewares do not go on black friday discounts

you can NOT get even close to "best upcoming editing and gaming laptop for only 1100 US dollars. Dell precisions, alienwares and falcoln northwest can run 3-5 TIMES that amount.
You CAN get a VERY good one though. There are some terrific bargains. At 1100, I'd be looking at XPS, asus, quosimo,

You are smart to wait as long as possible. MOST companies will have a product refresh in june and most companies put sales on latops during july/ august.

You can get good deals on black friday, but most are on ENTRY level systems, not "entrtainment" class or "gaming" class computers.

Good luck!
