I know this sounds peculiar but I'd like a laptop that is great for gaming and writing. I've been considering the Lenovo Gaming Laptop, but its a tad over my budget and the reviews are a bit mixed. I have a budget of $900-$1,000. Thank you for reading.

I don't feel like going through the trouble of finding you something, i just wanted to tell you that the first answer you received is completely wrong. They're a moron and know absolutely nothing about computer hardware. I have no idea why he is recommending hard drive space. The literal space that a HDD can use to store information effects nothing, you don't even need a 500gb HDD. You need to look at the RPM's it has, or better yet, get an SSD. (7200prm or better, never less.) and even THEN these specifications only effect the launch speed of the program, not actual fps. Next, you abso-fucking-lutely do not need 10gb of RAM. You won't even find a laptop with 10gb, it is just such an uncommon number. You'll be safe easily with 6gb, maybe even 4gb. Just don't play more than two games at once and you are a-okay. Third, graphics cards aren't necessarily measured by the gigabytes. You could have a 1gb GPU out perform a 2gb GPU. While it does effect performance, it certainly is not a number you should really take into consideration. You want to look at the graphics clock, and the texture fill rate. (this is going to take some research by typing in the gpu the computer your looking at buying is using.) For example, a clock speed of 700 with a texture fill rate of 11+ is going to give you pretty steady fps on most games, at low-medium settings. You'll have trouble on high. Obviously, this is pretty bare-minimum (for me, atleast) so any increase in these numbers will do you wonders. Fourth, you can't "rate" a processor good or bad by simply stating that it is dual core or quad core. Get a processor of 2.4ghz+ and you'll be safe. From all of the above, you'll be able to play all games. Increase these numbers slightly and your fps will increase. When looking at gaming pc's specifically, you always look for the one with the better GPU, then CPU, then RAM, in order from most important to least important as far as fps. To be completely honest i just wanted to make the person above look like a complete idiot, this is probably mostly gibberish to you. Good day to you sir.

What is the best laptop to get right now?

I will be using the laptop for college mostly. Something I will be able to take to class and take notes with and such.

I will also be using it to play World of Warcraft on so it would be nice if it had enough memory and etc to run the game at decent settings.

As for price I'd like it to be below 1,000, but laptops over 1,000 are still a possibility if they are really worth it.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Here is my two cents: I will not suggest a particular model but I will tell you this, stay away from netbooks at the moment because they are limited in expansion so not a good choice at their current price.

Here is my recommendation to help you decide better:

As laptop specs change often, it is good to get non-vendor information so you should do some checking on these review/guide sites to help fine tune your search.

At each site, check the basic guides at first and then you can choose different options using boxes and drop down menus to customize the search and get what you want in your laptop ( there is even a way on some of those sites to look by inputting the budget (price you are willing to pay) to get choices which won't blow up your wallet ).

Your time will not be wasted (after all, you get all this from the comfort of your home) and you should find something to your liking and budget.
