Hi, I am planning to get a decent gaming laptop which will play all the latest games maxed out above 30 or 40 fps but I don't know which one to get. Pls suggest

Answer
If price does not matter than go for ASUS G75VX-TS72 which has the price of $1500. It has good features and also designed specially for gaming as well. So you can go for it if you want to play every type of game.

It has really good features which include:

Intel CoreTM i7-3630QM Quad Core Processor (6M Cache, 2.40GHz - 3.40 GHz) 45W which is really powerful and efficient. It has Operating System of Windows 8 x64. It has Optical Drive of Blu-Ray Player SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW Dual Layer. It has RAM of 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz and Hard Drive of 750GB 7200rpm which is really huge storage. So overall it is really good and efficient laptop which is perfect for gaming.

For further details I would like you to see the comment from an actual user which will explain that how it actually performs:

If want to see other options in the market then here is a list of laptops which includes many of the gaming laptops as well from which you can also decide:

What is the best gaming laptop for around $1500? Also what is the best screen size?

I am looking for a good gaming laptop and I was also wondering what would be the best screen size. Also, i was wondering what external/portable hard drive i should get (if any).

Answer
Depends on what kind of games you're going to play. Most laptops come with the newest series of GPUs from Nvidia or ATi and with 2GB of RAM, you should be able to play most games. For $1500, you're not gonna get too much gaming power, try to see what you can get from AlienWare if you're a serious gamer. PCs deliver more performance though, because the GPUs on laptops are designed to be smaller and consume less power, so it has lower quality than a full blown PCI-E card.
