I have a budget of £800 Im looking for a new laptop. I want it solely for gaming, skyping and for the internet. Unfortunately I know nothing of hardware so I don't know what Im looking for. I currently have an Acer with about a 17inch screen and a large keyboard to match. I would prefer large for both and I would also prefer a webcam and mic built in but if not then I can buy them elsewhere. If any more information is needed then I will do all I can to provide. Im just tired of my old laptop struggling to run minecraft and being unable to run pretty much any new game and overheating with youtube if I don't hold it the right way.
The problem is that I have to buy a UK version otherwise it wont have coverage and there will be problems with repairs and compatibility. I cant find a HP Envy but I can find HP Pavilion. The only Envy I could find was http://www.amazon.co.uk/dv7-7201sa-17-3-inch-Notebook-Processor-Integrated/dp/B009YY80P0/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356006906&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Other than that I found a couple of things close to your recommendation:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-NP355V5C-SuperMulti-Graphics-Premioum/dp/B008EJGJHC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1356007095&sr=8-13

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pavilion-dv7-6c01ea-Quad-Core-A6-3430MX-Processor/dp/B006W7B2WA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1356007095&sr=8-3

Am I getting close? I think Im willing to go up to £1000ish but Id prefer to stick to £800

Answer
The annual PCWORLD Survey last result was December 2011, and Dell and HP did not fare well.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/244419/laptop_reliability_and_satisfaction_macbooks_rule.html
And, Specials seem to end today at Dell unless extended, but, the best specifications I could find for you is with Dell Inspiron 17R SE at Dell.com
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/configuration-compare.aspx?ocs=n0017s51,n0017s15,n0017s08,n0017s46&returnURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dell.com%2Fuk%2Fp%2Flaptops%23!facets%3D93410~0~1450395%26p%3D1%26results%3D30
For models, shipping at VAT included from £699 to £799
All 17.3" Full high def 1080p display, Windows 8, 1TB 5400 rpm HDD, 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GT 650M, DVDRW, aluminum cover switchable colors, 2x2 Intel Wireless-N 2230, 6 cell lithium ion 48Whr battery, 3.28 kg
The lowest at .£699 is a core i5 ivy bridge, and the other 3 are core i7 3630QM

Passmark 3836 vs 7616 CPU power performance
In base specifications, the 749 priced one showing an extra 50 off seems to be the same or better than the two more expensive.
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-17r-se-7720/pd?oc=n0017s15&model_id=inspiron-17r-se-7720#TechSpec
There are a few options available.
Pricing may be different tomorrow, but this appears to be the best today and is in budget.

GT 650M gaming can be looked up. The 1080p screen may slow the frame rate for low-medium-high, but I cannot find a better GPU/CPU combo at under £800

The HPs in the price range are not even close. Lenovo Y series is 15.6" not full HD
This Samsung is a better brand and costs a bit more:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-5-550p-17-3-laptop-silver-17563638-pdt.html
It is x900 resolution instead of x1080.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M on first you show is garbage compared with GT 650M
cheaper Samsung NP355V5C 7670M is similar to GT 630M, has a weaker A10-4600M CPU at 3158 score, is not full high def, is 15.6" where I thought you want a 17.3"
HP Pavilion dv7-6c01ea has a dismally slow CPU compared to everything else presented so far, and is still only HD 7670M.
At your price point, you want GT 650M, and only Dell and Lenovo show that so far, and dell is 17.3" full High def at under 800.

USA prices are irrelevent. There is no VAT here and instead prices without local sales tax of up to 8%. The competition is also higher here, so pricing is lower. Totally a waste to look at USA prices.
The 739 pound Dell ordered today is the way to go (prices go up or down later) or pay more for a Samsung of lower specs. Unless you find another GT 650M or higher graphics.
Samsung at Amazon UK is available:
15.6" Core i5 with the GT 650M in x768 lower def screen:
£705 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-15-6-inch-Graphics-Windows-Premium/dp/B008S7LCIQ/

Beautiful Gigabyte system is out of stock at about £900 due late january

Specifications are here:
http://www.excaliberpc.com/622840/gigabyte-p2742g-cf1-17.3-gaming-laptop.html#TabSpecification
GTX 660M is even better than GT 650M. Also at Amazon UK out of stock.
FINAL:
Others at www.laptopsdirect.co.uk
You need to open details of each laptop with dedicated graphics from £500 - £1000
GTX 660M is better than GT 650M
17.3" appears to be more desireable to you than 15.6"
Higher definition screen better than lower.
Core i7's better than core i5's.
i7-3xxx and i5-3xxx better than i7-2xxx and i5-2xxx
Samsungs are there in stock with GT 650M

What laptop is best for me?

I'm looking at buying the Asus UL80Vt. Is that a good laptop? Does it have a DVD Burner? What is another laptop that you recommend if not this one that is priced under $800?
