What type of gaming laptop?

Matt

So I have a need a laptop for around 1000$ that i can use for gaming, such as league of legends, skyrim and hopefully the new elder scrolls coming out. Another thing I need is to be able to use it for everyday school work and internet surfing etc.

The biggest thing is that I need something that can have a strong connection to my wifi. I live in a rural area and I have issues with dependable all-game connection when I play league of legends, and all i want is to be able to run it at an optimal speed.

My friend owns an Asus laptop which he said he bought for around 1000$. whenever we play together he always loads into League of Legends faster than me and has a better constant ping rate than I do an my Macbook Pro even when we use the same wifi, so would that be a good option?

Answer
Look for a decent GPU and decent display at the same time, as those are what'll affect you most. The GPU for game performance, and the display as a general thing.

**Sager NP7355** (NVIDIA GTX 765M GDDR5, 15.6" 1920x1080 display w/ matte finish and good contrast) - **$999**
- http://powernotebooks.com/configure.php?special=1687
- Select Windows under Operating System, unless you can get a copy for cheaper. Default selection is No OS.

**Acer Aspire V3-772G-9653** (NVIDIA GTX 760M GDDR5, 17.3" 1920x1080 display w/ matte finish and good contrast) - **$999**

**MSI GE60** (NVIDIA GTX 660M GDDR5, 15.6" 1920x1080 display w/ matte finish and good contrast) - **$929**

**MSI GE60** (NVIDIA GTX 760M GDDR5, 15.6" 1920x1080 display w/ matte finish and good contrast) - **$999**

- Note: I'm not sure about the battery life on this one. The higher-end i7/765M version of the GE60 (not listed here) had battery life issues, but I don't know if they fixed them with this newly-released one
- Note: Windows 7.

**Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p** (NVIDIA GT 750M GDDR5, 15.6" 1920x1080 display w/ matte finish and good contrast) - **$839 tax**

- These are among the 1920x1080-display-equipped models. These are the models you want to be looking at, out of the Y510p line. Avoid any of the models that come with the 15.6" 1366x768 display and not the 15.6" 1920x1080 display.

Is this a good gaming laptop FOR THE PRICE?

Ryan

Hey I'm looking for a cheap gaming laptop, and I've heard this one is good for the price. I'm not too good with laptop specs and such, so could someone tell me if this laptop is good for gaming for the price it's being sold? Thanks

Answer
/For the price/ yes. The Radeon 7640G GPU integrated into the AMD A8-4500M is one of the better-performing GPUs you'll be able to get for ~$400.

If the price goes back up to $500, then no. Check out some of the "Gamer's Choice" laptops listed under the "Budget" section of the "Quick Picks" in the sidebar on http://reddit.com/r/SuggestALaptop/
