I'm sick of my old Toshiba Satellite with its 3.2base score according to windows, and i really don't want to pay for a new battery and a HEI gaming graphics card when i could buy a new laptop for the same cash. I'm preferring a 17-inch laptop that isn't a Macintosh. Any suggestions?

A gaming laptop under 1000 is pretty hard to find, but if you know where to look, you will find a perfect one!
Fortunately, I found a couple that you can look further into.
To start, Alienware has a gaming laptop for $899 called the Alienware m11x. The only bad thing is that it has a tiny 11 inch screen (the computer was meant to be an ultraportable mini powerhouse).
Another good laptop to consider is Xplorer X7-5000 Gaming Notebook from Cyberpower. Even though it is a little bit more than $1000 (price is $1039) it has EXTREMELY good hardware. This laptop features an 8 core Intel i7 processor and 1gb VRAM Nvidia Geforce GT 560M. It also has a 17 inch 1080p hd screen. Also, the computer is 100% customizable. You can change ANYTHING you want on the computer (except for the body case :/)

I need a new laptop that can play the newest 3D games, and I only have $900-$1,000 to spend.
Please state why you feel it is the best, not just the laptop.

Gaming herdware + laptop = more than $1000 price tag.
Not a ton more, but if you want to play the NEWEST games you are looking at about $1500 and up for a laptop. You can get a good one for $1200-1400 but it's not going to play the very top-end 3D games.
Anything with an intergrated graphics card it going to kill high-end gaming. You are going to need one with a decrete graphics card and at least 2GB (but 4GB would be a lot better) RAM. At least a 2.0 Dual core processor, but 2.4GHz+ is best (like an Intel Core 2 Duo or better). All that's going to be tough to find for under a grand.
Sorry to say, but for a true gaming laptop you've got to shell out fifteen hundred or more.
