I'm a student, i'd use it mainly to write, to brows the web, and listen to music. Occasionally i'd watch a movie online, play a computer game..

I know i want it to be at least 14inch screen, and i'm looking for something cheap, inexpensive. I have considered buying a used laptop, but my friend tells me that's not a wise idea.

Thanks all.
oh, and i'd also use it for video conversations.

Answer
Since you probably will be sharing programs and files with other students and you don't want to have compatibility problems, I would recommend you to buy a PC laptop instead of an Apple.

A good way to decide which laptop you should buy is by looking at the best selling laptops list, because that tells you what most people are deciding to buy right now.

The most sold PC laptop with the characteristics that you require, and the one that I will recommend to you, is the Toshiba Satellite L755-S5271. It has a 15.6-Inch LED, and 4GB of RAM, which is something necessary if you don't want to have speed problems while opening various programs or web pages at the same time. You can buy it new for $499.99, but if you want something cheaper with these same characteristics, you can buy the HP ProBook 4530s XU015UT for $449.99.

How Much GHZ, GB, and RAM Should I Get for Laptop?

Brian Yu

Im planning to buy a laptop and i dont know how much GHZ, GB for the hard drive and, RAM i should get.

im using the laptop for gaming(i game sort of alot), homework, music(i have lots of songs in itunes), and internet.

Answer
Although the speed of the computers' processor is no longer measured in GHZ, but in benchmarks, you don't have to worry about it because this is not the most important restriction. If you want your computer to go fast you have to focus your attention in the amount of RAM. If you open various programs or web pages and you don't have enough RAM your computer will become slow. In my opinion, nowadays, 4GB of RAM memory is enough to don't have to worry about the memory issue. I have windows 7 with 4GB of RAM, and though I use to open a lot of programs at the same time, I never had a memory problem with my computer.
